Ensure Charizard

Maybe it's been said before, but is this moveset for Charizard good?

Jolly Nature
-Aerial Ace
-Rockslide
-Earthquake
-Flamethrower

I would say adequate instead of good, and only in-game.

Next time get Swords Dance so it can be an effective physical sweeper.

Ultimatelugia August 8th, 2006 11:43 PM

Mines just got a bunch of fire moves
Blast burn
Flamethrower
Fire-spin
and fire blast

shanecdavis August 9th, 2006 3:36 AM

Eww, you just ruined Charizard. Pokemon everywhere are lolling at your Charizard for first, being Fire-type of course, and second, only having one type of move. Having two attacking moves of the same type is not a good idea, having FOUR is just plain abusive. The Department of Pokemon Protective Services should be informed about this.

Please don't make suggestions here until you have a better understanding of the game.

Ultimatelugia, since you have no knowledge of good Pokémon movesets, please stop posting in this forum until you learn more about them.

Lugialord, Swords Dance is necessary on there since Charizard’s attack isn’t very high compared to other physical sweepers. Put it over Rock Slide, since Flying+Ground take care of most types in the game.
And if you’re going with a Jolly nature, you might as well put Overheat instead of Flamethrower so you can still OKO the likes of Skarmory with your decreased Sp Attack.

Atleast I have more sense than to give my charizard four fire moves, and my moveset isn't all that great. If he only has fire moves he'll get creamed by water and rock types.

shanecdavis August 10th, 2006 2:25 AM

It still gets creamed by Water and Ground types and a Poke that can Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Rock Throw. Charizard was good years ago, but Fire-types are just too weak in the current metagame.

Charizard can still do some damage in NB today. The variations of this set are how it does.

[email protected] Berry/Petaya Berry
EVs: 252 SPD/252 SA/6 HP
Nature: Modest (Salac) or Timid (Petaya)
Flamethrower/Heat Wave
Hidden Power [Grass]
Endure
Dragon Claw

This is a nice Swampert counter. Someone will switch a Swampert in to take a fire attack, it gets weakened, then you kill it with HP Grass. Also kills anything Rock/Ground type. The Salac version has the advantage of speed and the Petaya version the SA advantage.

Meh. Bringing in a Water type against Charizard wouldn't be very smart. Switching to a special wall makes more sense, especially since you would typically lose in a foot race. Snorlax can Return, Blissey can Thunderbolt, and Regice can Ice Beam.

Considering that 60% of all teams nowadays have Tyranitar, any Pokémon that relies on Endure + Berry Boost has their effectiveness greatly decreased.
