is there any downside to...
evolving your pokemon late/ not evolving you pokemon?
at all? cos i like some pkmn better before they evolve, also if it only makes a difference to some then please tell me that |
Evolving your poke late or early doesn't effect its final stats - but not evolving it to its final form would leave it's stats lower.
|
so do i get a stat boost on evolution?
|
All pokes have IV's - <0-31> extra stat points -
these never change no matter what stage of evolution. You can add EV's by fighting different pokes - you can only add 63 stat points to any one stat. You have 127 to spread out on the stats you like. These also don't matter what stage of evolution you're at. When you evolve your base stats grow so any poke at stage 3 <Slaking> will be stronger then when they're at stage 1 <Slackoth>. Some pokes stats totally change when they evolve like Scyther - high speed ----> Scizor - much lower speed but better defenses. So check out info on pokes base stats to find out what you want to do with them. |
It isn't a bad thing not to evolve your Pokemon. Sure, the stats will be lower, but if you truly like the Pokemon unevolved, then keep it so. You don't have to battle with just strong Pokemon, you should always go with your faves, evolved or not.

That is fine if you are playing in-game against the pathetic AI that was made so a 6-year old could beat it, but get used to losing if you ever play against another trainer that knows anything about battling. Besides a few exceptions (Slowbro instantly comes to mind), unevolved Pokes put you at a disadvantage the second they hit the field. Again, against the AI or against a noob trainer, you could still sneak in a win, but you will lose and lose badly otherwise.
