IBMs cost an arm and a leg. And IMO aren't better.
But that's just me, and me being a BIG HP fan. In this house there's 4 HP computers, two Compaq (HP owns them, but I think Compaq sucks), 4 HP printers, and 2 HP digital cameras. And if I could find them and could afford them then I'd have an HP HDTV. XD

I can't help it if my dad likes to buy a new computer every year (if he buys a new one next year then that's a new computer for 5 years straight). XD

Hmm...I can't seem to find the number, Andy. All I can find is a sticker that says "DV6000" and has some other crap. Maybe I just need to look harder. o.o

WidowMaker October 29th, 2006 10:08 PM

Why does your father buy a new computer every year? Can't he just buy new hardware, or is that not the case?

If you don't call that wealth, I'm a crapball of nothingness XD
We have - a multimedia printer (the only good printer we've ever had XD), an IBM latptop, an ASUS desktop ( know you've never heard of them), two digi-cams, and... uh... yeah, that's it.... which means Andy IS rich.

It should be on the bottom. On a sticker next to the Windows sicker. It should say something like....
HP Pavilion dv6000
barcode stuff
barcode stuff
dv6xxx
(the numbers and or letters after "dv6" is the model of your computer. Like mine is "dv4165cl").

I am not rich. I'm in pain trying to think of how I'm going to pay for the Wii. XD

And you were in the right to go with an HP. *Nods nods* I don't know how many people I've told to get an HP, it's crazy. XD

Sammi October 30th, 2006 9:52 AM

I miss the laptop we had. >: It was a Compaq. It worked well except for the battery. I guess it didn't charge well. Oh, and one of the keys fell off. The parents gave it to my stepbrother. I wanted it to be mine someday! T__________T

We have an HP printer though. It worked very well with our old digital camera, since the memory cards plug into it (it's a photo printer). However, the camera died. >:
I wanted to kill it awhile back, since it didn't want to work for me. The computer and the printer did not want to talk to each other. Now they do and it's all good.

Arcanine October 30th, 2006 11:41 AM

Just get your parents to get you a new HP laptop and you'll be just fine. XD

Drummershuff October 30th, 2006 11:43 AM

My parents won't spend that kind of money on me. I'll have to save my own money. :/

I might get a laptop if I get a job of my own. This computer is old; I'd like something not as bad. XD;

Virtual Headache October 30th, 2006 12:13 PM

My laptop is the best :P
about 300 MHz, battery doesn't work, no idea how much space I have, won't work properly with Windows 98, so it's running Linux, needs an extra cooler so it doesn't get too hot + it's 298506403196 years old :D

I still like using it sometimes though, I just don't trust it...

The highest priced thing I ever got was my laptop. Other then that most of my Christmas/Birthday stuff was around $200-300 (at the most, I tend to get forgotten sometimes.... XD). XD

If it's a good laptop then there's nothing wrong on keeping it. XD

I do too, but I needed the portability of a laptop for college. o.o

Ho-Oh October 30th, 2006 3:17 PM

Yeah, I never liked laptops..too breakable..but normal computers are better because they are cheaper to replace.

Brittany October 30th, 2006 3:57 PM

Laptops... I'm overdue on a new one >.< I'm waiting for the price of Samsung's(and whoever else) pretty little flash-based drives to go down.

Lighter, less breakage, generally faster, and less power usage. Until I can not worry about the computer going dead in 4 hours or adding extra weight(batteries) to compensate, I'm not ready to go through that hassle again.

I'm gonna either sell my computer or give it to my cousin, I can't risk bringing such a heavy breakable monitor/screen to campus. It may be 11 months from now but I better start on packing some things and decide whether to buy a dell or a vaio one.

Kylie-chan October 30th, 2006 4:20 PM

Ahahahahahaha. I've had the worst luck ever with laptops, I've melted over four motherboards and burnt over ten power packs. >___>; IN TWO YEARS.

Hi Brittany. ^_^ Nice to see you back. :D *misses a lot of older members ^^;*

Sorano October 30th, 2006 4:25 PM

Unless you're getting the XPS for gaming you shouldn't get a Dell. An XPS is great for plaing games on it. But in the end it's a Dell, and Dells aren't all that good.

Well it does cost a bit. You have to remember, the price you saw on HP.com was just a starting price, you'll have to get a larger HDD, more memory, RAM and other things.

Over all on specs and stuff desktops are better. But I like a laptop because I can take it on the go. Right now I'm in my brother's room, if I had a desktop then I couldn't move from my room to his room to the living room to the office and so on.

Well a Dell is a.... well a Dell. Lots of "pretty" stories has been told about Dells. And a Vaio is Sony after all. You got the whole PSP probs, PS2 probs, PS3 probs. And then you got the probs about Sony batteries sort of.... well bursting into flames....

Do what I did, get a nice wireless mouse. You don't have to play $40 bucks like me (I would have went for one that was $80 if I had the cash XD), most Logitch mice are good.

I have a wireless Logitech. I don't remember exactly how much it costed me, but it works nice. It was extremely sensitive compared to my old mouse, but it didn't take long to get adapted. I definately recommend picking one up if anyone doesn't have on already. I <3 mine. XD

doesn't matter October 30th, 2006 10:40 PM

Because of my dislike of batteries, I have blatantly avoided getting any peripheral such as a mouse or keyboard that is wireless.

And besides, I don't see any real benefit of using one over the traditional wired equipment.

I'm with Ray on this one. I guess I wouldn't mind having a wireless for my IBM, but otherwise, a wired mouse for my Desktop is fine. Plus, I don't like the idea of recharging/batteries, etc.

Mine came with software so I could change the settings on it to tone mine down.
I also love mine, it's sweet. I got my buttons set up on it where it's tied into WMP (I always got a song going). It's great. XD

If you mean dislike for batteries as in they die on you too quick, then you should buy the one I got. I got my mouse around Christmas of last year. 10 months ago, and I've never changed out the batteries (the ones I got in there right now is the ones that came with the mouse). This thing is great on battary life, and if you hate wireless mice dying because of the batteries then you need this one.

Because wires tend to get in the way? XD

hmmm, well why pay extra for a wireless mouse when I can get a device that does the exact same thing for less?

hehehe, I did say no real benefit didn't I? XD

MegaFuz October 30th, 2006 11:11 PM

The one I have only uses one AA battery. I've been using the same battery since I got my computer in July. Not bad for battery life at all, if you ask me. =\

hehehe, I did say no real benefit didn't I? XD

Because I HATE wires, there. XD
Why do you think I got a laptop? Or a $40 wireless PS2 controller (also Logitech), or a $50 wireless 360 controller? XD

The one I got uses two. But I can pull one out and it'll run fine on one battary.

I agree completely. Wires are so...restricting. XD

Huh. My mouse is a tad smaller than most mouses. That might be why it only uses one. o.o

I'm happy that there are no wiires on the Wii.

Nintendo did the right thing. Besides the connected analog stick, which is OK in my opinion.

No, because if you got a wire then you're tied down with it. And then if you're like me and move around a good bit with my laptop then the wires gets in the way and hang down and so on. It sucks.

You mean just like cell phones? XD

Your DS uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It is a battery. XD

Poor poor DCC. XD

So am I, the whole wireless controller, wireless connect with the DS, and Wi-Fi makes it great.

To me they need something to connect the Wiimote with the Nunchuck. So that wire is fine for me.

pokejungle October 31st, 2006 6:01 AM

Does the PS3 have PSP connectivity? Personally, I can't see Sony doing anything particularly smart with it anyhow.

Yea I'm pretty sure it does.
I also can't see what they could do with it. With the DS you'll be able to download demos, be able to use it as a controller on game like Pokemon Battle Revolution, and that sort of stuff.

Yeah.

I see the PSP and PS3 as more of a Gamecube and GBA sort of relationship frankly. I don't see much places it could go. Nintendo's franchises work much better in conjunction with each other for that sort of thing.

Drummershuff October 31st, 2006 6:34 AM

I can't believe it's nearly the end of the month already... it's gone way too quickly. @[email protected]

pokejungle October 31st, 2006 6:36 AM

Yeah, it really has ;<

Everyone like my MCR-licious theme?

I don't see it even that good. I mean like on LoZ: WW you could use the GBA as a map and that sort of stuff. I just can't see what the PSP can do for the PS3...

*Smacks* No, it wasn't a wind, it was just the month going bye bye. XD

Drummershuff October 31st, 2006 7:27 AM

Do you get pleasure out of smacking me or something, ass you do it all the time. XD

And I didn't know a month had a mouth to say bye bye... XD

MegaFuz October 31st, 2006 1:55 PM

There are a lot of things you don't know. XD

Ho-Oh October 31st, 2006 3:25 PM

I didn't want my DS to have a battery..well at least I don't have to replace it..which is a good thing.
And this thread isnt as significant to me since I only started posting here like a week or so ago XD

Xhaiden October 31st, 2006 4:38 PM

So, Hurray for my favorite holiday!! ^^-tosses candy and prances about in a Reno Costume- So what is everyone doing this year for it? I am terrorising little children as a evil vampire type thingy. ^_-

Yami Rui October 31st, 2006 5:05 PM

I gave out candy for 10 minutes, then after no one came I got bored and my parents took over giving out candy so I wen't down to my computer.

DarkCrystal October 31st, 2006 5:19 PM

I have a wireless mouse, but a wired keyboard. I admit, having to change batteries can be annoying, but I love not having to hassle about with a lengthy cord.

I hate having to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. Since I'm the only one home, I'm having to go downstairs and hand out candy in the middle of typing post.

Bomberman October 31st, 2006 6:47 PM

=( I didn't get to go Trick or Treating for the first time ever.
Oh well, tomorrow will bring be discounted bags of candy from Walgreen's and Thursday will bring DIAL M FOR MURDER in 3D! XD

Nell October 31st, 2006 7:33 PM

Meh. Trick or treating sounds a little too effort-requiring XD
Mmmm.... it's the first of november for me here -_-;;

Drifblim October 31st, 2006 8:17 PM

I worked the whole day.

I usually just give out candy anyway, as I have no-one to go with....
