Berry Glitch

If you do not pick berries as soon as they finish growing, are they supposed to die? This is what is happening in my game and I am not sure if it is.

Die as in, restart? Or simply disappear?

Berry trees are supposed to die down and start growing again.

Yeah, it starts with three berries, then two, and then one. It dies and re-grows in the same spot with three berries, it will continually happen. It is no glitch.

Um, It looks like just loamy soil again, not like any berries are planted.
For example, I pick berries on a route i come to for the first time. I plant them again. I come back way later in the game when I have fly. Berries are gone.(no plants either)

After this happened I tried to experiment. It seems they die even if I stay in the route, but do not pick them for awhile. They don't seem to come back.

They do come back. The length of time depends on the how long it takes for the berries to grow. For example, a Razz berry takes 4 hours to grow berries from the time you plant it, while a Salac berry takes 4 DAYS. The only time the soil will never yield a berry is when you take the berries and don't plant one afterwards.

It allows me to plant berries again in that soil. If I just leave it alone, will they come back?

The format won't be too great, but as you can see, every berry has a set amount of time that it takes to go from planting the berry to picking them. When you water the berry during a stage, you increase the number of berries the tree/bush/plant will produce. Now, if you don't pick the berries when they are ripe, after a while they drop to the ground and the process starts over. That means the ground will be furtle for one cycle before the sapling cycle starts. During that time you are certainly able to plant another berry, but if you do you just lost the berry you planted previously.
