Rate my FireRed team.

This is my main Fire Red team, (Please keep in mind I use my Mewtwo as a special attacker/trainer for my weak pokemon)

Charizard/Lv.85 (I need better move sets for him)
Fly
Blast Burn
Fire Bast
Dragon Claw

Meganium/Lv.60
Solarbeam
Earthquake
Body Slam
Giga Drain

Umbreon/Lv.78
Shadow Ball
Psychic
Moonlight
Bite

Lapras/Lv.70
Hydro Pump
Surf
Thunder
-

Donphan/Lv.68 (Never really changed his moveset)
Take Down
Roll Out
Rapid Spin
Earthquake

Mewtwo/100 (Can't decide what Pokemon to replace Mewtwo with..)
Ice Beam
Psychic
Brick Break
EarthQuake

So if you have any ideas, then post here!
Btw I don't plan on changing Mewtwos moveset, just replacing Mewtwo xD

And I would love a new move set for Charizard, and don't look at my trainer card xD It has nothing to do with my Pokemon team.

Thanx

Cool team the best pokemon to replace mewtwo with is metergross i think but that might just be me because metergross is my best pokemon in my team. For Charizard's moveset ancient power, earthquake, sunny day and flamethrower and a held item leftovers if you can get hold of them.

Krobelus October 13th, 2006 10:45 AM

Well i have almost every Pokemon/Item (I'm an item collector upon a pokemon collector) so i will try those moves for Charizard, but my Metagross is lv.45, so if i do us him, I'll have to train alot xD

Here are a few tips for you:

- NEVER give a Poke two attacking moves of the same type (i.e. Fire Blast AND Blast Burn on Charizard). It is redundant and only limits the effectiveness of your Poke.

- NEVER give HM moves not called Surf to a Poke on your team. That is what HM slaves are for. Fly on Charizard is no-no. Use Aerial Ace or Wing Attack.

- NEVER use crappy two-turn attacks like Hyper Beam or Fly. Attacking twice with Earthquake does more damage than one Hyper Beam attack. Not to mention the fact that you aren't stuck for a whole turn.

- Avoid putting Normal attacks on non-Normal Pokes. Normal-type moves aren't Super Effective against any type, meaning they don't have much benefit compared to different type move.

Now for your team. Fixes in bold:

Charizard/Lv.85 (I need better move sets for him)
- Aerial Ace/Wing Attack
- Dragon Dance/Swords Dance/Rock Slide
- Earthquake/Rock Slide

- Fire Bast

Charizard just isn't the terror that it used to be. Changing the berries to activate at 25% health instead of 50% took away the Bellyzard that used to terrorize the metagame. It is now totally outclassed by Salamence and Dragonite. Personally, I would have you switch to Dragonite, but it is your choice. Just don't use Fly or Blast Burn. Don't use the Sunny Day idea either. It is more effective by pumping up its Atk stat with DD or SD.

Meganium/Lv.60
- Giga Drain/Razor Leaf
- Leech Seed
- Light Screen/Reflect
- Synthesis

Meganium is more of a defensive Poke than offensive. Its base attacking stats are low-80's while the base defenses are 100. LS/Reflect help out the rest of your team and Solarbeam is one of those two-turn moves to avoid. Leech Seed is just a great move.

Umbreon/Lv.78
- Baton Pass
- Mean Look/Substitute/Toxic
- Protect
- Wish

Umbreon is another defensive Poke, inasmuch that it shouldn't have an attacking move. My favorite version is WishPassbreon. This thing can come in practically on any Poke, Wish, and then Pass and heal a teammate, while passing on its great defensive stats. The second slot is up to you. ML traps a crappy Poke so you can set up, Subs are great to pass, and Toxic allows Umby to do actual damage.

Lapras/Lv.70
- Confuse Ray
- Ice Beam
- Sing/Surf
- Thunderbolt

Standard Lapras that is good defensively, but can deal a fair amount of damage with BoltBeam. Sing or Surf is your preference.

Donphan/Lv.68 (Never really changed his moveset)
- Rest
- Rock Slide

- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake

Donphan is a great physical wall. Excellent choice. Just give it more staying power with Rest and add Rock Slide, if you can.

Mewtwo/100 (Can't decide what Pokemon to replace Mewtwo with..)
Ice Beam
Psychic
Brick Break
EarthQuake

Alakazam @ Leftovers
- Calm Mind/Fire Punch
- Ice Punch/Fire Punch/Recover
- Psychic
- Thunderpunch/Substitute

Alakazam is your special sweeper. If you have access to Emerald, go with the elemental punches. Recover isn't the best option since its defenses aren't that great, but that plus Sub can give it some staying power, against the crappy AI at least.

Definitely replace Charizard with Dragonite and Mewtwo with Alakazam. A little too much on the defensive side, but you still have strong versatility with a few changes.

Wow, this is exactly what type of evaluation i was looking for, thank you very much Shanecdavis!

Now I'm going to change everything and post back here when I'm finshed.

Thank you again xD

[EDIT] By the way, what natures do you reccomend per Pokemon that you suggested? (I'm going to breed my Pokemon team and EV train them).
