Consider...

Hey, just registered and I was wondering.

Considering the 'standard' Sunnybeamer Houndoom moveset;

Houndoom @Leftovers
252 SPD / 252 SP.ATK / Remainder HP
Trait: Flash Fire | Nature: Timid (+Spd, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Crunch
- Sunny Day
- Solarbeam

come Diamond/Pearl time Crunch will be classed a Physical attack and rely on the Attack stat, whereas it is now Sp. Attack (or so I believe). I am just wondering how, knowing this, you would alter the EV Spread if at all and what Nature would be chosen over Timid. Houndoom's defenses are rather low so I'd be cautious to choose one that further negates them.

Moreover, is it a great injustice - statwise - to choose a nature which gives no bonuses, such as Quirky or Docile?

Thanks for your time.

Nyah, first of all, Sunnybeamer Houndoom is a completely outdated set. The most popular one currently is Flamethrower, Crunch, Will-O-Wisp/Beat Up, Pursuit. Secondly, yes, a neutral nature is always a sin. Also, altering the nature or EV spread accomodate a single physical move would be pointless, especially since Houndoom's Attack is pretty weak. I'd say ditch Crunch for Shadow Ball in D/P (Since that move is special over there) and live with it. Sure it loses the STAB but it will still be super effective against psychic and ghost types and will certainly be a far better option than weakening the other moves by changing nature or EVs.

When D/P comes, just replace Crunch with Dark Pulse, a 80 Power special Dark attack with the ability to Flinch.
No need to change anything else.

BUT, it does get Scheme, which is like a Special Swords Dance.

Yes, don't use a Neutral nature. There is always a stat that is most important and another stat that is least important.
