Are you on your bike? Since you gotta be walking to use the Poketore.

Also, you need to charge it (by walking 50 steps... or was it a 100?) once after every use.

It's 50 steps.

!!**Alex**!!, you must be off your Bike in order for it to work. It can only be used in Tall Grass to (Normal Grass, not the real tall grass). And somtimes the Poketore won't find any pokemon, if so then just walk 50 Steps and try again.

Also, as an added information bonus, if while you're using it A tile of grass glows diffrent colors: GET YOUR REPEL OUT AND DASH TOWARDS IT cuz you just got yourself A Shiny.

Wow, so you can get shinies with the poketore? If you get in a battle before you reach it, does it go away? Will you still fight it if you have a repel on, wouldn't it repel the shiny too? =^_^= That's awesome!! Maybe I'll FINALLY find a shiny in D/P.

Nope not on my bike... well I'll go and try it again. I havent played in a little while so I dont know... I'll just test it again. Then maybe.... XD

It goes away when you get into another battle, that's why I mentioned A Repel. Also, the Poketore is also meant to garuntee A Pokemon battle, so even with the repel it'll still appear. This is also how I came across A Shiny Kirlia (score!)

p o k e m o n, search around the DP Discussion board, Your code should be there.

Haven't gotten the game yet so this is a simple one i can't look up myself. When a poke has Misuse as an ability does it mean it can hold an item but it doesn't work or it can't hold an item at all.

Example...

Mimiroppu : Toxic/Burn Orb
Timid <+Spd / -Att>
'Misuse' - <Cannot use Held Items>
* Heal Wish
* Sneak
* Agility
* Baton Pass

Would this mean my poke wouldn't get the Burn/Toxic from the item and then he could switch it <SNEAK> to the other poke and he would get the status effect? Or can he not equip an item at all?

Mimirop can hold the item, but it won't take effect, thus allowing you to sneak the item onto the opponent safely.

But not all item effects can be negated with Misuse, like the Macho Brace, Kuroi Tekkyuu etc

Although this is the most used Mimilop tactic (I've fought at least 2 people with this build... maybe more), it's unique to Mimilop, and is the most effective IMO.

Volta. February 16th, 2007 7:34 AM

For the glowy effect on the Pokétore, how long does the shininess last?

Chibaymega12 February 17th, 2007 9:55 AM

You know how if you have a fr/lg/r/s/e cartridge in your game and you go to a certain place and the pokemon is there i.e. With lg cartridge in the game, you can find a magby in hard mountain. Can you do that with an english cartridge and a japanese pearl game??

I didn't try it out myself, but it's been said not to work.
So you need an English game if you want to transfer the Pokémon from an English cartridge.

Dsaerno February 17th, 2007 1:18 PM

Do the Japanese Pokemon games come in different colored cartridges like the English ones do? If so, are the DS game cards light blue and pink for Diamond and Pearl?

No, they just have the color DS cards usually have.
My Diamond is dark grey.

to answer my own question and any one else who might be wondering, it does work. I tried it, and i caught my self a magby!!

ok, ive got another question, ive been trying to evolve rhydon into dosiadon, ive given him the defence thing (red blocky thing) and he doesnt evolve, ive even level him up with a rare candy and he still wont evolve, please help

EDIT: ok, i figured out from serebii, you gotta trade

also, ive said it before, ill say it again, this thread is SOOO boring

Tormentedsoul14 February 20th, 2007 2:06 PM

what zone is exeggute in ive spent over 50k in the binoculars.

EDIT:English carts work to see stuff like emerald to see pineco. Just pal park wont work with english carts only jap carts at the moment.

fatpappa911 February 20th, 2007 6:28 PM

what is the diffrence betwean diamond and pearl?

i dont know what to get what is the diffrence

Volta. February 20th, 2007 7:04 PM

As with all games, there are certain Pokémon exclusive to either one or the other. Another difference is that in Diamond, you get Dialga, and in Pearl, you get Palkia. Idk about any other differences tho...

Since it's a "change-everyday" Pokemon in the Safari Zone, it doesn't come out all the time.

So be sure to check the Safari Zone everyday, because you may just be lucky on a particular day.

Shiny Umbreon February 21st, 2007 12:03 PM

Two questions:
1-Can I transfer Pokémon from my English LG to a Japanese D/P?
2-Can I trade Pokémon from a Japanese D/P to an English D/P?

fatpappa911 February 21st, 2007 12:49 PM

what is better diamond or pearl?

i know the difrence but which is the best one to get and what would be a good starter

I'll answer your questions :D

1- You cannot transfer pokemon, but you can get the pokemon that require a cartridge to be inserted to be seen regardless

2- No

Now, im adressing this to both of the questions, a jp game cannot read an english game when you actually have to pick which pokemon you want in vice versa

EDIT: First post on page 10 (not that amazing)

Volta. February 21st, 2007 5:01 PM

Well, on the list that I showed you, depending on which Pokémon you like more, you should choose the version with those Pokémon! Also, the starters are pretty evenly matched (or they say they are ;D)and therefore are very equal. You probably wont be using much of them late-game anyway! :3

fatpappa911 February 21st, 2007 5:36 PM

thankx for the help but isnt like the other versions where choosing the grass starter is easy fire is hard and water is moderat

How does PorygonZ's abiltiy "Adaptive" work? It supposedly gives you an extra damage if using a move with the same type as it. (Sounds like STAB) But how much does it raise?

slash106 February 22nd, 2007 4:06 PM

Ya im just asking if there are any important clues I should learn before I go off and buy dimond or perl like any stupid glitches I should hear about anything about the pokemon and im a noob to this website so ya Im still learning about all the stuff here so plz answer me back incase there is a down side to dimond and pearl.

fatpappa, that whole second post was spam.
You shouldn't mini-mod either, Shiny Umbreon.

Adaptitive boosts any move that matches PorygonZ's type by 50%. So with Adaptive and STAB, PorygonZ's Normal attacks are doubled in power.

Well, in the JAP version, there were glitches galore! Like being able to get Sheimi, Areuseus, and Darkrai all in the original game. But Im pretty sure by the time the game is Americanized, theyll have removed all that by then. Even JAP versions you buy now will probably have glitches removed...

Just some more questions about that.

1-How is Silk Scarf's bonus applied. Is it added, too? (210%) Or it works by multiplying x1.1 ?
Correct me if the bonus isn't 10%.

2-How much does the Concentration Band raises physical moves' power? How it works together with STAB? (Again, multiplying or adding?)

Since when can you get Areuseus? Even if you use the E4 glitch its impossible without cheats since you have to go above tengan mountain. Also the glitches are already removed from the jap games I preordered diamond and that had the glitches bought pearl in november and glitches were removed.

There arent really glitches that you should worry about really. As long as you know what you are doing if you do decide to use the E4 glitch (got stuck in black 3 times, had to restart each time).

About the pokemon I would suggest getting Murkrow or Misdrevous depending on your version Sphinx (electric looking dog) is a good one to catch early in the game also. Don't worry about catching Buizel he sucks later in game. As for starters go for the grass one, he is the best overall. Penguin is to slow to hit anything, Fire monkey is good for being one of the three fire people you can get. Enough with my splurge.

White Lotus February 23rd, 2007 8:16 PM

Poison Spikes works just like regular Spikes correct. The only difference is the that <Steel> is immune instead of <Flying>.

That means the rest is set damage so all those 1/2 damage resistances to <Poison> doesn't matter right?

When Pokemon Diamond And Pearl come out in Australia, will it just be the American version, or will the language be changed to Australian, ie; Mum instead of Mom?

I dont think it will. Its highly unlikely for that to happen. Also there has never been a difference like that in the older versions and such small changes due to the country's slang or use of terms probably wont be considered.

I dont believe so. I haven't actually tested this but as your Pokemon dont come with you into the Underground and the Underground is more for games then battling.

I think it would be normal STAB (1.5x) then the additional 50% of that, giving you 2.25x damage, rather than just adding the bonuses. And the Scarf would be 1.1 x 2.25... which is... 2.475... i think.

Argh, i just forgot my question...

Oh yeah, what are Adherence Glasses? I see people use them as held items, but what do they do?
Thanks!

AquaLeaderMatt February 25th, 2007 3:19 AM

Are there any trainers in D/P that have Buuburn and Electivire? I need to complete the National Dex, but I can't unless I have seen those. I've beaten (nearly) every trainer in the game so far(I'm just about to go the 8th Gym) and I haven't found them. I'm guessing they will be late-game. are they?

Amoblaz February 25th, 2007 5:07 AM

I think you mean Sinnoh Dex, because there are no trainers that have buuburn or elekible.
You don't need those 2 in the dex to unlock anything

Volta. February 25th, 2007 8:57 AM

Yeah, youll want to find Elekid and Magby if youre travelling down that line... wait, what exactly does unlock the NatDex?

All in all, its fairly good imho...

AquaLeaderMatt February 25th, 2007 10:03 AM

I mean, I'm trying to complete the Sinnoh Dex. Completing that unlocks the National dex after speaking to Rowan. I want the Pokétore! So I need to complete the Sinnoh dex. Aren't Buuburn and Electivire in the Sinnoh Dex?

Iron Mankey February 25th, 2007 10:49 AM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fourth-generation_Pok%C3%A9mon

Sure, it's Wikipedia, which means anybody can mess around with it, but I find the info pretty reliable, and matches everything else everybody is saying anyways. As for who the Legendaries are, ya got:

-Giratina
-Palkia
-Dialga
-Regigigas
-Agnome
-Emrit
-Yuxie
-Arseus
-Crecilia
-Darkai
-Manaphy
-Sheimi

Hope it helped some. :)

That Shinou Dex doesnt contain Buuburn or Electivire. If you want those, you need to have Magby or Elekid like it was said above.

Some of them show up in the games themselves.
Some of them will only be catchable when you've got a certain game cartridge in your DS' GBA slot (for example some Pokémon will only show up when you've also got your LG game inserted).
You can transfer a lot of them from your old games to D/P (but not back).

These are the only unobtainable Pokémon in the game: http://serebii.net/diamondpearl/unobtainables.shtml

Yes, you can catch Pokémon from your FR/LG in the Pal Park once you get that far.
All you need is to insert your FR/LG cartridge into the DS and D/P will recognise it (you can't do this before reaching a certain point in the game though).

2.how many pokemon will you have to trade from other versions

Paranoia February 27th, 2007 1:39 AM

Pokemon Pearl

Ok, because i have the Jap Rom, and i dont know much Jap (only a little) What colours symbolize a stat dropping, as in emerald if you did growl the pokemon would glow red symbolising they lost a level in the attack stat.

In DP they glow blue down for every stat downer and red/orange for every stat increaser.

Why Do Some Pokeballs get "thrown" back at you, because im trying to catch a ponyta and i cant catch it coz the ball keeps flying back

Shiny Umbreon February 28th, 2007 11:57 AM

I heard somewhere that "Your name's PC" has been changed with the Pokéball stickers thing. Does that mean you're now able to carry infinite items?

Paranoia February 28th, 2007 12:38 PM

No, but i think its up to 999, because i was watching some videos on youtube and they all had 999 items, unless they gamesharked...

Volta. February 28th, 2007 5:22 PM

Are the event Pokémon (e.g. Manaphy, Phione, Sheimi, Aruseus, Darkrai) needed to complete the SinnohDex?

Absolitude February 28th, 2007 7:25 PM

No, i'v heard that they aren't because they are event pokemon and not all people are able to get them. It just wouldn't be fair if nintendo made the game so that everyone needed one when not everyone can get one. Plus i think there is a one per person limit so no. My final answer is no.

Yes, pretty much. There's no longer a items box on the PC meaning all items are carried in your bag. And I'm pretty certain its infinite items... I have loads of items in my bag and it seems to keep letting me carry more and more.

No, the Shinou Dex is actually quite simple. Not all of the new Pokemon have been included in it and you only have to have seen the Pokemon to complete it, not capture them.

Myzou February 28th, 2007 11:51 PM

Are bonsly and Mime Jr. Version exclusive or was that an old rumor? ^^;

No, but this is how it is:

Bonsly:

Diamond (Rare) Found in Pokémon Mansion
Pearl (Common) Found in Routes 209 & 210-South, Pokémon Mansion

While Mime Jr is the opposite:

Diamond (Common) Found in Routes 209 & 210-South, Pokémon Mansion
Pearl (Rare) Pokémon Mansion

Virtual Headache March 1st, 2007 2:42 PM

Sure, just use the "Battle Search" in the key items pocket.

For example, this function was implemented through the Cell Phone in Generation II, Trainers' Eyes in R/S, and the Match Call in Emerald. Is there a similar function in Diamond and Pearl?

The item "VS Seeker" presented to us in FR/LG is once again repeated in D/P.

Too bad it wont work on Gym leaders.

Questions!

Ok People 3 Questions,

1.) With The GTS If I Wanted To Search For A Specific Item Is That Possible, ie look for a Pokemon thats holding a lucky egg thats being traded? I Want To Know This So That I Can Trade Rare Items For Rare Pokes, Such As Lugia Celebi etc

2.) Is There A Way To Tell If A Pokemon Is An Official Pokemon? Not Hacked nor Glitched?

3.) With The Old D/P Glitch The 2 Pokemon's (Darkrai, And Sheiemi) That Could Be Acquired Through That, If I Traded Them Would They Count As Real Pokes?

Thanks Alot

pikachulover306 March 3rd, 2007 2:05 AM

What does Mimiroppu's ability Disuse actually do?

Paranoia March 3rd, 2007 5:59 AM

It Means It Cannot Use Any Hold Items

White Lotus March 3rd, 2007 1:26 PM

Does 'Humble Heart' work with a botched Focus Punch?

In other words if Lucario started a Focus Punch and was hit with an attack - would it activate 'Humble Heart'?

Focus Punch description states if user is hit he will flinch.

<EDIT> Nevermind. The answer is NO.

Absolitude March 3rd, 2007 4:03 PM

Is it true that Pokemon D/P will have voice chat capabilities? I think i saw something about it on seribii but now i don't remember.

Funk March 3rd, 2007 4:18 PM

I'm curious about what Absolitude is saying as well; on Gamestop.com, where you click on the info for D/P, Diamond and Pearl packages come up and aside from that, there is an earpiece which includes a microphone and a headphone.

:O

Absolitude March 3rd, 2007 4:51 PM

Funk it may just be a coincidence. There is a Nintendo ds headset. And if you go here it will show you that it can be used with the ds and the ds lite, and also it shows you screen shots. I also read in something similar to that, that there might be a headset in the making or already out that lets you talk with the same sound you would get on a cellphone. Now I'm sure everyone knows the microphone that comes with the ds is bad, so if this makes your voice crystal clear it would be so perfectly awesome because you would be able to chat with your friends, and battle as if they were right there. I'm getting REALLY excited!

So if Mimiroppu is holding a Toxic Orb it won't become poisioned right ?

Absolitude March 3rd, 2007 9:06 PM

I think that's exactly it pikachulover306. Since it cannot use any hold items. And i have had to answer my own question to which the answer is yes. The supporting texts are: "While wireless battling is sadly limited to people with whom you share Friend Codes – it also lets you 'voice chat' online", "Players who explore beneath the Pokemon Center will find a new Pokemon WiFi Club. This area allows for players to battle, exchange Pokemon, and engage in voice chat via the internet.", "And the online experience is a solid one: the game supports voice chat" Hope that helps you Funk, and the other curious members.

No, It Can't Use Anything In Battle Only, It Can Hold Items, But They Arent Used, It Says This On Serebii, So If You Want More Info Just Go To serebii (google it as your not allowed to post weblinks) Then On The Navi Bar Go Down To Games > Pokemon Diamond / Pearl Then On The Right Navigation Bar Go > New Abilities And That Will Help You Out.

I Dont Know About The Toxic Orb Though. Why Would You Want To Hold It Anyway? It Induces Poison status to holder. Thats Not Good, At All.

Well whats cool about this site is that its not a Nintendo owned site, they have almost no authority over us! That means we can trade friend codes! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ^o^
I'm gonna post my friend code on my sig, great idea huh?

Oh, and I have a question that I have not been able to answer.

Is the new Region called Shinnoh or Sinnoh?
I've seen so many different sites with these two names, can somebody confirm this for me?

El Diabeetus March 3rd, 2007 10:54 PM

It has been Confirmed to Be Sinnoh see:

Under there up to no good

Captain Arcane March 3rd, 2007 11:17 PM

Yeah, terrific idea...at least, it would be if it wasn't against the forum rules to do so :(...

Absolitude March 4th, 2007 9:43 AM

Well i'v read the rules, and it says that you can send your friend code to other users by pming them. They just tell you to be careful. So everyone gather up a lot of friends, and hold on for one wild poke ride! Yeehhaw!

Tormentedsoul14 March 4th, 2007 9:30 PM

I dont see why you cant post your FC its not like they can hack your game or whatever. Its just a code to identify you in the WiFi community. If anyone has any questions I know pretty much the game inside and out, so ask away.

daniel1838 March 5th, 2007 6:49 PM

1)why aren't we allowed to five out friend's codes?

2)If there are so many cheaters who get event pokemons and put them in the WiFi Community, would it spoil the fun of the whole game? maybe nintendo should disallow the trades of legendaries?

3)Can someone tell me more about the level balancing thing?

Thanks

1.)This is quoted from a Super Mod, Scizz:
"Nope, sorry. Friend-Code sharing threads are not allowed.

~closed~"

So your probably not allowed to trade friend codes. Scizz if you see this, can you direct me to the part of the rules it says this as i cant seem to find it.

2.) Well depends, the people who give out the event only legis would want something really good for it, so probably not, i know that ill be waiting for the events to get Darkrai Aruseus and Shiemi because then they are yours as they will have your ID and Trainer Name!

3.) When you go into wifi your pokemons Lvl gets boosted to lvl 100 so you can go in with a lvl 5 pikachu and in wifi itll be lvl 100 pikachu with whatever EVs and IVs it has.

Also i do have a question, How Do i get Rotomu?! ive been looking for ages!

Virtual Headache March 6th, 2007 2:48 AM

Go to Hakutai City and then to Hakutai forest. The first thing you will see is a house. Walk in.
In one of the rooms there is a TV set (I believe it's the third), talk to it and you will be asked a yes or no question, pick yes and Rotomu should appear.
It will be at level 15.

I'm pretty sure you need to get the Nationaldex before though.

Paranoia March 6th, 2007 3:12 AM

Awesome, thank you so much, now to ad my sixth and final team member.

Just a question though, is it breedable, or is it classified as a legendary?

And could i get a good moveset for it and what EVs and Nature. Thanks all so much :)
