Is cheating THIS bad? [question]
Back when I had my gameshark, I used to use my Emerald version as a sort of experiment. I'd just have fun with, catch myself a Deoxys or Mew, get him to level 100 in a night, and totally destroy the Elite 4. But after a while of using gameshark, I noticed that all of my berries were gone. None of them were growing... nearly every patch of soil was completely bare. Then I traded between that version of Emerald, and my Ruby version... and after a few trades, I realized that there were no berries in Ruby either! The same thing that happened in Emerald happened to my Ruby. (and it wasn't this Berry Glitch I've been hearing about, I patched it with Emerald on both Ruby and Sapphire... not to mention I haven't even had the game for half a year at the time).
I'm just wondering if this is a common side affect of using a gameshark, or other cheatring device? Because it was really quite annoying... I lost some rare berries. Of course, I just bought them again with my gameshark! haha Anyways, I have since restarted my Emerald version with a clean slate (no cheating for me), and want to trade some of the rare pokemon from my "tainted" and rather berry-less Ruby, but I don't want the glitch to spread to my new game of Emerald. I'm just curious if anyone knows what happened, if it was the gameshark, if it'll spread if I trade? |
I did hear about a glitch in the gameshark that would stop your berries from growing. I also heard a glitch about how it would lock up your TM/HM case, so you couldn't use them. When you restarted you Emerald, did you do a Factory Reset? (A Factory Reset is where you push a bunch of random buttons at the title screen-I forget which ones, and then it resets your game like as if you had never played it) If you didn't do a Factory Reset, some of the Gameshark codes could still be in your Emerald. Well, if it spread like it did the first time, I personally wouldn't risk it. It could spread the glitch, or you could luck out and be just fine. Try to be more careful in the future. (:

I have used the Action Replay without this problem in Emerald. Maybe it is just a Gameshark problem?

I'll be honest in saying that all the sites I've checked, this is the first case I've heard of this happening. Maybe I'm just lucky. lol ;-) |
I have used an AR cheat once to get all the berries (including the enigma), but eventually the game froze whenever I was in the TM section of my Trainer Bag. (I did post this once)
I would only resort to cheating in order to get Deoxys and Mew, since I can't attend any of the Pokemon events. |
I use tyranitar, sceptile and wailord, dragonite or garados. ( I think)
|
using the gameshark/action repay has many radom and very harmfull effects i have had many differant things happen to my games using the gameshark I(this is not advertising) would recmend the ction replay becuase its much safer and glitch dont happen that ofthen and the not near as sever.

Anyway, Berries gone? well I suppose it is what you get for cheating. |
Yeah it does sometimes stop berries from growing
But dont make this slow you down. I would just buy new berries |

I don't ever plan to use Gameshark on my Emerald, now that I got Pokerus and have formulated my ultimate Steel Pokemon team. I even intend to go all the way to New York to go to the Pokemon Centre there and get the Legendaries. (I think they can give them away there? I hope so. Even though I refrain from using Legendaries in battle, they're still neat to flaunt around.) |

I knew someone who actualy got pokerus and didnt use gameshark. This is possible but it is almost one in 189537.472 to 1 But the berry glitch happens to me a lot of the time. But I rarely use berries I just use potions and antidotes |

But anyway back to the berry thing The glitch does exist but usualy it doesnt. But anyway what berries do people find problems with? |
its's weird when i borrowed my friends emerald i traded my Firered pokes and I got Pokerus just from battling the E4 one time on all the pokes i traded o.o And his poke NEVER had pokerus so i'm freaked out that mine got it from HIS game
|
Well, using GS to get PokeRus is just... weird. o_O
If you want to get more EXP or EVs, just modify them, hm? (not that I use AR/GS) But, anyways, I highly discourage cheating. :( |
Whats fun is trading a pokerus pokemon to fr/lg since theres no time feature your pokemon will have pokerus untill you trade them to a game with a time feature.

Just to update anyone who's interested...
I've discovered that berries disappearing is actually a normal part of the game. I did an experiment on a freshly opened Emerald game; I planted two berries, and kept a close eye on them. One I would pick each time I got to it in time (as a control, as we say in the science geek world), and the other I left alone, didn't even touch. It took approximately 5 days for the untouched berry to vanish. So I don't know why it happens, but it's normal (annoying as it may be). I've also noticed some berries NEVER vanish, like Leppas. I've yet to see a Leppa Plant just up and say bye bye. It's also possible that others berries take longer to vanish, I chose the Pinap berry to test it on, because it's one of the fasted growing berries out there. Maybe one week I'll do a test on EVERY single berry possible, and write my own guide. I'll call it...the "Brownian Berry Glitch", Brown, of course, being my last name. ;-) Although it's not really a glitch... it just sounds cool. But the lesson is: DO NOT PLANT BERRIES UNLESS YOU PLAN TO PICK THEM. This is especially important for those rare berries. Plant them, pay close attention, water, and pick. Do not plant another one unless you intend to repeat the process, as they usually do not last forever, like that little chick in the Pretty Petal Shop tells you. She's a liar!! haha |
