Haven't been here in a while..T_T..soz
Well I haven't played MKDS much since I posted here. Just played some balloon battles vs. cpu on hard mode and no teaming (see how they pick on you). One time I got like 7 cpu players chasing me after I hit them, coincidence? xD Also, here is some more advice to become a master at balloon battles: - Block Fort: The name already says it, best way to win here is by building a fort atop somewhere and watch how your enemies hurt themself before you finish them off with a shell/mushroom. What you are gonna do: Start off with a power boost foreward and go left/right at center, depends in what direction you prefer to use sliding (R-button). Drive as fast as you can to the end of what way and grab the item box while already starting to slide left. Go up the hill, turn left again, drive forward (across the bridge) --or go up the hill near you-- and go up the hill at the end of it. If you did corrently you're now atop one of the 4 highest points of the map. Grab the item box when it's aviable there and start laying banana/fake box fields at every way the enemies can get near you: those are the 2 bridges and the hill you used to get up there yourself. Once everything is 'mined' get your item box filled with shields or mushrooms (work good here) so you can strike someone after the hit a banana/fake box and take care of the enemy before they start firing stuff at you. Oh and, you can use a bomb also to attack them long-range and make them lose their shield before they get in your banana/fake box field. If you don't, they'll use a shield to open a gap and activate their red shield to track you and smack you off the pilar (smart players). If your enemies don't have patience they will come for you anyway so this'll work. Either take them on long-range (bomb) or go in ambush mode and attack with shield after they drive in. If they got too near you immediatly jump to bottom ground, armor yourself and get back to your position. Maybe I should write a FAQ for this...what you guys think? |

Balloon Battle on Hard difficulty is tough, I've been playing it a little lately aswell to find effective ways to play. |
Balloon battle is hard maybe, but after you found the right tactics and use them on the right maps you'll see it isn't that difficult ;) Brute force won't help you at any map, that's clearly.
What maps do you guys dislike on the balloon battles? I don't like Palm Shore and Tart Top at all, they're kinda crappy maps to me :X Also MUSION I added you at MSN yesterday (the msn in yer profile) so if you see some "captaineirikr added you" it's me ;) |
I like Pipe Plaza and the DS one. I dont do balloon battles much, i just like to race on Wi-Fi.
|
I like Pipe Plaza and Block Fort. Twilight House is alright but I'd like it more if some of the rooms weren't empty.
|
My favorites are Pipe Plaza, Twilight House, Block Fort and DS..but I think my all-time favortite is Twilight House, just 'cuz I played soooo much on it xP
|
I was owning them other racers yesterday. I think we did about ten races, because my last racer dropped out because i was beating him. Badly. And i think i lost ONCE. Im really good at Cheep Cheep Beach, and Desert Hills. But Delfino Square is really neat. I like that short cut. And have you guys noticed that sometimes the bridge moves? I dont know how to activate it. Do you guys know how?
|
The one with the boosts on it? It just constantly moves up and down slowly.
|
Nice work Croco ;) Maybe we should start a MKDS clan or something and put some tags at our name at Wi-fi to indicate we're in it...what you guys think ^^
Every course has shortcuts. The one at Delfino Square before you arrive at the bridge--best is to have a mushroom or 2 to boost you through the mud. In Bowser Castle is also a shortcut at the part with the rotating floor and the whomps, any of you found it yet? |
Yep, i know ALMOST every short cut. What do you mean by tags?
|
The Bowser Castle shortcut is great, the one Hayate mentioned.
Quote:
For example, if the clan was PokeCommunity (example only) the tag could be (PC) and the names would be like this: (PC)Hayate (PC)Croconaw (PC)MUSION or whatever name you use. Space is quite limited too. |
Meh maybe something more orignal :P But the example is good ^^
<-=MKPU=-> Mario-kart Players United...xD |
Cna I join? I happen to be a Mario Kart pro. In Battles, I would recommend using Bowser because he can knock people out of his way. The classic "Fake Item by Actual Item" is a classic and I use it all the time. I think I know all the shortcuts in the game, and I can snake really well. Does anyone here know how to dodge a Spiny Shell?
|
you mean a blue shell? well you have to hit something like a shell right before you get hit and when you're in stun time the explosion won't hit. i happen to be pro at MKDS. i can lap 150cc coms on certain courses.
|
Sorry I asked. That method that Lunux said happens to me a lot, but after playing a quick game, I realized myself that power sliding left and right really quickly will keep you safe from a Blue Shell. I think its called snaking. Only do this if you feel comfortable and you mastered power-slides.
|
Mastery of power slides is my middle name. i can power slide anywhere, anytime. but i've never had that happen to me before, i'll investigate further on the method. thnx.
did you know that different karts have different powerslide boost lengths? |
Wow I'm 1 hour gone and 2 new members already ^^;; Well welcome here Lunux and Yoshistar ^^
And for the good record, I think all of us are 'pro's' at MKDS, it really isn't THAT difficult ;) |
Wow. 2 more members. Are you guys gonna stay here, or jus fade away after a few days? I despise people who do that. But if your here to stay, welcome.
|
I'ma here to stay man. MKDS is the best MK besides 64 in my opinion. but ds is really great nonetheless. Thank you for the welcome.
|
So whats up my fellow MKDS peeps?
|
Nothing much since last time. i just want to know something, does speed really matter in MKDS or as a matter of fact for all the MKs? my guess would be no, but i could be wrong.
|
Well, i guess at certain courses yeah. And against other people yeah. But thats my opinion.
EDIT: hey hayate, musion, you know how we were talkin about some way of recognizing ourselves as some MK clan? Well, all i did was put MKDS Clan for my little user title thingy under my name, you think that would work? And if you have some better ideas jus tell me. |
Maybe change our emblems slightly to show we're part of the Clan? like put a mark in the corner or something. i'm not really sure how the WiFi works since i've never done it before.
