How to easily find the legendary dogs
If you are wondering if you should be playing your FR/LG all day to find them, then read this:
As you know, one of the legendary dogs randomly appear in Kanto according to your starter POkémon. Bulbasaur - Entei Charmander - Suicune Squirtle - Raikou This is an easy way to find them. Step 1: Fly to Viridian City. Step 2: Go to Route 2 (North) until the entrance of the Viridian Forest. Step 3: Enter the routehouse, then go out and walk into the grass for a short time using a repel. (Your first Pokémon should be below Lv40) Step 4: Repeat Step 3 multiple times until you find it. This should work because there are only 22 Routes where they can appear (3 are sea routes) so you would have to be pretty lucky to find one. But with this guide, you're sure to find it because its area totally resets each time you warp into a house or building. Finding it should be quick so keep walking just a short time and re-enter the building. This works with any building near the grass, so you can try in your own places. I use this place because I think it's the building nearest to the grass in all Kanto. Remember they will only appear in Kanto, not on the Sevii Islands. |
interesting,ill try this for Raikou
|
Thanks For The Info! I'll Try This One!
|
thanks
thanks for that!
i was curious why it toook me a while to find entei and suicune on older saved games, i was looking on the sevii islands catching new pokemon doing some stuff you know.... anyway thatnks hopefully i will get the last legendary dog for my collection. |
THANKS! I was just on google looking for this exact thing, thanx again!
|
You can do the same thing for Latios/Latias in R/S, that is how I got them.
|
I never though of doing that, I wasted so much time, well its great for the future
:t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~ |
pokemon
Cool im trying it too:) thanks!
|
I find that looking around for the roaming Pokemon can be quite a pain, so I just let them come to me, and when I see one I just use my Master Ball.
|
Can you get the other legendary dogs?
|
Good trick, if I needed it I would've tried it but I already have them :P
As for the other 2 dogs, I guess you'll need to trade them from other games to Fr/LG ;) |
I've got a similar way to catch Latios/Latias in R/S/E but it takes more time:
1. Fly to Lilicove City 2. Go west to Route 121 (Not sure about the number) 3. After walking some time, in the grass, fly to Lilicove again. |
you can easily find it at route 11 just run around

As for Suicune, I found her awful fast too. I went to Celadon City, and went on the route East of that, and wandered around a bit, using Repels. After about 5 minutes, I gave up and went to the Pokemon Center and came back. I didn't use any Repels this time, and guess who was the first Pokemon I saw? Suicune. I don't know if it's just me, but I always manage to get lucky with the Legendary Pokemon. I could elaborate, but maybe later..I'm not even supposed to be on the computer right now, so I can't type too much xD;; |
Thanks, I was wandering where to catch him
|
Dunno if it's closer, but I first encountered my Raikou outside of the area near the Rock Tunnel. There's a Pokémon Center, then not only is there grass up nearby, but you're also right next to a cave entrance. So (for the dogs) it's pretty nearby, and for good level training for lower level Pokémon, you have a nice, dark cave right there. ^_^
Anyway, I didn't catch it, then he sprang up down near Fuschia City. I was like :O waw! lol, but anyway yeah he ran again... (I was in the middle of training my level 30ish shiny Voltorb). Even LATER I found him hanging around a bunch of Oddishes and such... over by the Unknown Dungeon. I was pretty fried, because again, I was training and not trying to catch him. Blah, why don't I just throw the Master Ball, right? I know, I know. I'm trying to save it for that ultra-rare Pokémon. (Really, I'm just saving it for a Shiny Dratini... but we all know that I can't get one with a Master Ball, because they only show up in the Safari Zone.) *u.u* |
thanks for the advice! but i'm not looking forward to catching suicune, i heard he's (suicune) the weakest of all legendary dogs
|

Suicune may not have brute strength like the other two but it can beat both of them XD don't under estimate a pokemon based on its Att and SpAtt stats |
You Can Find The Legendary Dogs At East Of Celadon City Much!
|
Thanks for this!! Its really useful :)

Entei, being a Fire-type, is automatically the weakest one. Its strength is that it has the highest base Atk and HP (115 each) and has a good base Spd (100). What does it in, besides being a Fire-type and therefore weak to both physical AND special attacks (Ground/Rock/Water), is its average defenses. Even with its high HP, it faints too easy to be of any good use. Plus, with its higher Atk than SAtk, it also suffers the same fate as Flareon, the worst of the Eevee evolutions, - bad physical movepool. Raikou actually isn't too bad of a choice. It has the highest base SAtk and Spd (115 each) and a good SDef (100). Unfortunately for Raikou, Electric is weak to Ground, which is a physical attack, taking advantage of its average base Def (75). Typical Electric-type. Fast speed and great power, just too frail to last too long against a common attack. Very similar to Jolteon. That brings us to Suicune. While it doesn't sport a strong base Atk, SAtk, or Spd, it does have the highest base Def and SDef (115 each) and a good HP (100). What this does is make Suicune one of the better tanks in the game, capable of taking both physical AND special hits very well. You could compare it to Vaporeon, but you would be wrong. It really is a combination of Vaporeon AND Umbreon. It shrugs off damage like Umbreon, but hits back like Vaporeon. Easily the best of the three, without question. |
1.wait, do you go into the route house then walk into the forest or back out south?
2.and, if you use a repel, it wont work, will it? 3.and, does it HAVE TO be a repel or can it be a max repel? please answer my questions while you are looking through this thread, PLEASE TYVM! :) |
Quote:
2.) It will work, because the way a repel works is if I have a Lvl 49 pkmn in the front of my party, No pokemon of lower level will be encountered. 3.) It can be any repel. Although if you can't find him in a while, Fly to the town and try again as fly scrambles up the routes he visits. |
Quote:
2.how long do you have to keep on walking in the grass? until the max repel is out or 5 mins? how long? 3.can you do it on a bycicle or does it HAVE TO be walk? if so, can you run? |
Quote:
Flew to Viridian city, Put on max repel, Ran to route two, and ran in the grass, about 10 secs I ran into the building came back out and ran around again, I did that like 20 times, didn't find it then flew back to Viridian city Repeat Until Found. Make sure you use your masterball on it, as they always flee. |

but i feel bad when i do that, so i wil just put up with the consaquences. TYVM, your magesty! lol (jk) but, TYVM. and, one more question. if you had no masterball, how would you catch it? i NEED this help. |

Not if you are planning on using it as your lead Poke and using Max Repel.

but wait theres more lol
you can sr for shiny dogs or different natures by using the method the thread starter posted but with a twist make sure the dog is in your dex to get in your dex trade of course ok save before giving sapphire to celio go to a route with a building or underground tunnel passage and walk in and out until it is in your area{to do this you have to have it in your dex and also be able to track it by checking your dex} when i is in you area find and catch it with a masterball and check its nature and shinyness or evs/ivs or whatever it is you like if it is not what you like then soft reset by pressing a, b, select, start at the same time and proceed all of the steps over again until you get the one you like |

It Worked!

Thanks for this, i'll have to try and see if i have any luck finding Suicune. :]
|
I couldn't help but notice a lot of folk in this thread are mentioning Wobbuffets, do they have an attack or skill that prevents the epic pokemon from running? I'd definetley want to save my master ball for Mewtwo.
|
Awesome, thanks for the info, ive been trying for so long. i hope it works!

Helps a lot, you guys are awesome, thanks!
|
best way to catch it with ultras?
|
This actually sounds quite interesting... Since it seems to have helped many other people in this thread, I think I'll try it as well (once I actually get that far in LG, I turned on my game and it only had the New Game option?).
|
thank you so much!! I was getting extremely frustrated - more than trying to catch mesprit on diamond - but after reading this, I caught entei in a matter of seconds!
|
Empressjenf, please don't revive threads over a month old.
