Pochama's English Name

I've seen that Pochama's English name is Piplup. What do you think ??

I prefer Pochama...

charizard_maa February 14th, 2007 10:46 AM

Last I heard that it was in debate. THat it is uncertain about what the name is.

I have no idea what to say about Piplup. Unlike the others I have no idea where it name comes from. It reminds me about fruit as in the plup but that is it.

Here here on Pochama's Japanese name. That one actually made more since to me.

Maybe it is how Pochama's name is pronounce like Palkia and Lucario are. No idea. I only know the 'R' and 'L' thing.

Arashi February 14th, 2007 10:49 AM

Piplup? Pochama sounds better, cuter and is easier to pronounce. Plus, it actually makes SENSE to me. (It is a reference to its being "noble" and hence its evo's being an emperor.)

Auron February 14th, 2007 10:52 AM

Well, it is supposed that comes from the Spanish word for Penguin, "Pingüino"...

pikachulover306 February 14th, 2007 11:43 AM

Pochama sounds way better and should stay the way it is I mean not all the staters have to have other english names and most people like Pochama better

Jim February 14th, 2007 12:55 PM

Pochama... The name Piplup is worse than the names Chimchar and Turtwig.

Shadez February 14th, 2007 12:58 PM

piplup sounds really stupid i like pochama much better

Samson February 14th, 2007 1:10 PM

turtwig isn't bad. piplup and chimchar are BAD.

Star★Seeker February 14th, 2007 2:32 PM

Piplup is better for swallot,Pochama is way better

.Bastion February 14th, 2007 2:54 PM

Definitely Pochama. It just fits it REALLY well.

I agree with Charizard_maa, Piplup does remind me of some kind of fruit. o-o

Gary, the Magic Fairy February 14th, 2007 2:56 PM

Piplup sounds cute; it's not the best name, but they could've done alot worse.

Random February 14th, 2007 8:51 PM

Piplup... i dont understand how that could relate to a penguin.

Pochama all the way, they should keep that name for the english D/P. :D

I mean if you sound out the names, pochama sounds a lot better.

Ayano Katagiri February 14th, 2007 8:56 PM

Piplup hasnt been 100% confirmed... but I think its okay. Not that bad. I prefer Pocchama though!

Dee Trier February 14th, 2007 10:10 PM

Somehow for this generation i prefer all the Japanese name Especially pochama. Can't they make a better name for the 4rd gen starter?

Auron February 15th, 2007 9:17 AM

The name was confirmed by a spokesman from Pokémon USA.

NO WE ARE DOOMED BY THE DREADED PIPLUP!

Auron February 15th, 2007 10:11 AM

You are right. We are doomed with this name. I'll be used to it...xD

How about the evolutions ?? What's their names ?? (I don't know their Japanese's names either...Just Enperuto xD)

Jim February 15th, 2007 10:35 AM

Potiishi and Enperuto I think...

Imagine their Eng names Piploshi and Emprulp XD that'd be dumb...

Auron February 15th, 2007 11:01 AM

Well, I don't like Potiishi...xD Looks like weird...

RSL February 15th, 2007 1:51 PM

Mind you guys, neither is actually correct. It's still being figured out as we speak.

EmeraldSky February 15th, 2007 2:32 PM

I like the Japanese name, but a name like Rainguin would make more sense in English. Piplup sounds better on a raindrop-like Pokemon, not a penguin

light_trainer921 February 15th, 2007 3:34 PM

It's not currently 100% sure yet.

Virtual Headache February 15th, 2007 6:10 PM

To be honest, Pipulp made me giggle when I first saw this name xD
Pochama is way better, but I don't care that much since i'm not getting the English game anyways.

It also hasn't been confirmed yet...

electricgrass February 15th, 2007 6:29 PM

like all of the other new names just found, I feel that the old name is and was better...

Sprite February 15th, 2007 6:36 PM

I think Pochama sounds way better.
