What preparations did you make for D/P?

(I wasn't sure if this went in this form or D/P but whatever.)

Personally, I got a male Kirlia, a lower-level Magneton, I hatched a new female Snorunt, got the lowest-level Dusclops possible, a female Roselia, and a new Nosepass, all to evolve. What did you do?

Red1530 February 18th, 2007 3:54 PM

I have done nothing to get ready for when D/P comes out.

Richard Lynch February 19th, 2007 5:20 PM

Actually, when I train, this is what's on my mind. Because you can transfer the Pokes to D/P, I've been attempting to get a team of killer Steel Pokes with amazing IVs, fully EV trained, maybe to level 50 so I'm not too far ahead. Besides that, no preperations otherwise, because I'm sure that many of the Pokes that have new evolutions will be available in-game in D/P. So it takes away from the hunt if you just transfer them.

Oh, and I played the crappy Pokemon Ranger, which gave me a sore wrist, just for the Manaphy egg. That's devotion, my friend. ;-)

White Lotus February 19th, 2007 6:24 PM

<Cracks Fingers>

I just got done transfering all my good pokes - around <50> + around <30>Dittos all with different Natures and a Max IV in each Stat (for breeeding purposes) / <150> Rare Candies + All my TM's to XD so i could start over Emerald this time with Mudkip as my starter.

I haven't played it since around Thanksgiving and i thought a run through would get me back into the swing of things for Pearl when it finally lands in my Filthy Hands. I'm planning on running a Sandstream team based around a Newly Devastating 'Dragon Dance' Tyranitar. Now that Crunch is physical + Lowers Def this things gonna be a killer. Add into that all the Element-Fang Possibilities and he can specialize to cover something you're team is missing. He will own in the 4th gen. <in my opinion>

I tried running a similar team last year but with no Jirachi i was sorely missing a good Special Sweeper immune to SandStorm. All that's been rectified with Lucario and although i usually frown upon using the new "kewl" Pokemon of the generation he just fits my T/S/S team to well to pass up on.

With just these 2 pokes you can build an awesome team. Drop in a Gaburaisu maybe Choice Banding and I'm getting all worked up just writing this team down on paper. I can't wait to get my hands on Pearl. :classic:

So i guess to answer the question i'll be training up an Tyranitar Egg <Larvitar> 'Adament' with 31 IV's in HP / Att / Spd :and: 20+ Def / SDef. But that's after i beat Emerald again and right now i'm about to fight the first Gym Leader with a <Lv.13> Mudkip / <Lv.12> Ralts / <Lv.12> Shroomish / <Lv.12> Swellow / <Lv.11> Zigzagoon - i forgot how fun it was to play with pokes that are this low a level. The beginning of these games are always my favorite part. About 1/2 through all the games your pokes get too strong and break the gameplay. But for now i'm loving this.

Bomberman February 19th, 2007 6:34 PM

I've moved everyone from LG, S, XD, and C over to E, and started LG over to get a Charmander / more rare pokes.

Voodoo Shaman February 20th, 2007 7:49 AM

I just bought Emerald yesterday in preparation for D/P. So far, I have a LVL 17 Combusken, a LVL 16 Shroomish and a LVL 12 Taillow. It's a pretty sh*tty team so far. I'm thinking of scrapping Taillow for something else, because it sucks right now.

Ayano Katagiri February 20th, 2007 9:04 PM

I havent done anything as I dont own any version apart from Diamond right now. And it'll probably stay that way. If I did own them, then I would have probably started moving my Pokemon to one game and creating level 5s for transferring to complete the National Dex.

Dee Trier February 20th, 2007 9:16 PM

Breed more eevee for Leavia and Glacia. I have all the eon with at least 393 stat in its speciality. So maybe i'll breed eevee for leafia from my flareon/arcanine(31 ivs atk ^^), and fo glacia from espeon/jolteon(both 30 ivs in SA) while hoping get shiny o_o

Kraka-chan February 22nd, 2007 1:09 AM

Hmm... <thinks> I suppose I should breed to get all the starters (Kanto, Jhoto and Hoenn) and any rare Pokemon like Porygon or Togepi.
I might consider leveling up my Legendaries.

Since it'll be a long while before D/P is released in Europe, I'll have plenty of time to prepare. <chuckles>

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ February 27th, 2007 5:13 PM

I moved all of my top Pokemon to Emerald and breeding those Pokemon and catching more Pokemon

:t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~

Iceman3k February 27th, 2007 9:30 PM

Worked on a MovesetDex, mainly to be used for myself. I might send it off to GameFaqs when it's finished.

Also, as far as in-game go, I'm picking to see what Pokemon I want to give away, because once D/P is out, I'll be training all of my stuff over again except for the ones I decide to keep, which isn't going to be too many.

donavannj February 28th, 2007 6:44 PM

I was going to restart my Sapphire(Level 72 Xatu, Level 73 Kyogre, Level 96 Blaziken) and LeafGreen(all level 100 starters), but my brother lost those, so now all we have left are his R(40-60)S(45-55)E(100) games. (He has all 3 of that generation, just like I have all 3 of the first generation) Months before this, however, this same brother also lost his FireRed(45-60), and before that, his first Crystal(Level 87 Dodrio) game. So I cannot leave my preparations for D/P with him, which means I will probably be out buying LG,FR (So I have that set, and probably with the money my brother owes me for losing my games), and either Diamond or Pearl, as well as a DS. (D/P and DS with own money)

Myzou February 28th, 2007 11:54 PM

Woah...that's a lot of try's. I've yet to meet a shiny Pokemon.

Anyway, I have not made any prep. for D/P. I'm thinking of just buying then playing D/P without tradeing anything inbetween the games, at least not for a while anyway.

Auron March 1st, 2007 10:26 AM

I'll temporaly bring my Regis for getting Regigigas. Also, I'll bring some Pokémon like Magneton, Rhydon, Gligar, etc...xD

pkmntrainerkenta March 1st, 2007 7:52 PM

I cloned my deoxys 30 times. =) ill Wi-Fi trade. For any pokemon i want lol.

Dragon Tamer Ed March 15th, 2007 11:54 AM

In preparation, I tried for a shiny Deoxys...and succeded. However it has an Impish nature (+Def, -Sp. Atk for anyone who doesn't know) so now it NEEDS to go to D/P.

ChrisG14 March 15th, 2007 12:01 PM

I've caught every Pokemon I could for Emerald, minus Latios, the Mudkip and Torchic evolution lines, and Delcatty. I'll start over after I get my DS and Diamond and trade everyone over to it. I'll then trade Emerald for Ruby/Sapphire(Whatever have Lunatone, Surskit, Zangoose and Roselia)

FFX383 March 26th, 2007 12:05 PM

I traded all my strongest lvl 100's to emerald, but im not going to trade then to d/p unless i really need them in real life battles, for the game itself im just going to start from scratch, make it a new adventure.

GrassPokemonTrainer March 28th, 2007 7:05 PM

grass pokemon...

after hearing d/p is coming out i had already lost all my pokemon games LAWL
so i bought emerald, before this i was aimlessly catching random pokemon i thought looked cool
BUT NOW GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAASSSSSSS pokemon fer me all dual grass types (still working on it i just need a bulbasaur, lileep and celebi)

its coming out in 4 days and im still not so ready...
but ill be on a school trip wen its out so ill still have a few extra days ;)

Yoshi_Master March 28th, 2007 7:13 PM

Wow, I didn't really think that you can get your pokemon between games.

Can someone please explain how that works?

How do you get from a GBA game to a DS game?

And, I havn't played pokemon ruby, emerald, or leaf green in a while meaning I havn't prepared a single bit.

Paranoia March 28th, 2007 8:47 PM

Because D/P is a NDS game, you put your D/P game into Slot 1 of your DS, then you put Emerald (or whatever GBA game) into Slot 2. Start up the DS and go to pokemon Pearl, and on the title screen you get the option of Pal Park, which go's through your pokemon that are in your Box in emerald, and allows you to TRANSFER 6 pokemon per day. So once they are in D/P they can never go back to Emerald.

Jackie March 29th, 2007 4:36 PM

All I have right now is a Modest Mewtwo with 31 IVs in SPD, and Sp.atk and very high in every other IVs that I'm transferring.

Evan April 3rd, 2007 7:30 AM

I bought Fire Red And Emerald. I Had Ruby Once Upon A Time But It Broke. But Yeah so i can't wait for pal park. Also Isn't Pal Park Late In the Game?

Yeah, you need to have beaten the Elite 4 in D/P before your allowed into Pal Park and you need to have gotten the national pokedex, which is obtained by seeing the 150 Sinnoh pokemon.

Evan April 3rd, 2007 1:03 PM

you have to see them all?!!?!???

Iceman3k April 10th, 2007 8:42 PM

Although the last post on this topic is a week old, it's still on the 1st page of the thread and I'm posting here anyway :x

Now then, preparing for D/P, I've been doing a lot.

- Firstly, and most importantly, I've been preparing movesets. Some people who know me on NetBattle know I like to make movesets, whether it being something old, or something scientifically created by myself. I've prepared a MS Word Document with Movesets for ALL of the fully evolved Pokemon, along with Pikachu, and now I'm in the process of creating Pokemon Analyses out of them.

- Second, handpicking D/P Certified Pokemon that are on my Emerald Version. I've trained a lot of stuff, but from the looks of things, only a few things are going to cut it. Anything left over will be given away at no cost whatsoever.

- Third, Training D/P Certified Pokemon. I've been playing Ruby, so I can obtain another Groudon and Latios, as well as beef up an Adamant Blaziken, and a Naive Sharpedo, both of which are In-Game Pokemon since I can't trade because one of my GBAs were stolen from when I got mugged walking home =(. And I'm also Playing through Pokemon XD, where I have a Naive Togetic with Tri Attack, which is the only Normal Sp. Atk that Togetic will obtain, besides Hyper Beam. That, and not to mention that the 40% total stat inflict rate is hawt 8)

This kind of topic should probably be in D/P Discussion.

ChrisG14 April 11th, 2007 6:28 AM

Well, I made a new change. Since Shadow Ball is gonna be a special attack in D/P, I'll keep it on my Gadivour. Grass Knot will be taught to my Sceptile when it's traded over to Diamond, and I hatched a male Ralts.
