Blaziken in Emerald

How much potential do Torchic, Combusken and Blaziken have in Emerald? I'm just wondering if I made the right choice at the beginning..

Blaziken is an okay Poke to use. Its problem is that it has a HORRIBLE typing. Fire/Fighting is weak to four of the most used moves in the game - Aerial Ace, Earthquake, Psychic, and Surf. Another problem with Blaziken is that it cannot get its best moveset until well after the Weak5.

Swampert is the best starter ever, but you can go with Blaziken if you want a little more of a challenge. Just make sure to get Lotad or Feebas.

Torchic/Combusken/Blaziken learn good moves, but they are weak to a lot of other moves, as mentioned before. Swampert has only one weakness, grass, and grass isn't used as much as any other type. Also, Swampert is Water/Ground so Electric moves can not hurt it.

A great moveset for a Swampert is:
Surf
Ice Beam
Rest/Protect/Substitute
Earthquake

These moves can make it virtually unbeatable. The Ice Beam can take out it's weakness to grass, and the other moves are powerful, and used a lot. Blaziken is good, and fun, but all in all Mudkip is the best (weakness wise) starter to choose. It has 1 weakness while Blaziken has about 4. Hope this helps.

Doesn't mean you should spam. And if you make 15 quality posts, that would be ideal...

I always choose Blaziken... I dunno why. Probably because i think he looks cool, and hes really good for beating the E4. (Crushes like 2 of them, Dark and Ice) and is fairly decent all around. I don't do PvP, so i don't really have too much of a problem with weakness because i'm usually like 15 levels higher (I only train 3 pokes so its easier to be high leveled on them all) so weakness doesn't matter as I'm strong enough.
I really with i picked a Mudkip though...

^^^ I personally think Torchic-Combusken-Blaziken is the best starter line to go with in Sapphire, since you can catch Kyogre later on.

Kind of pointless, did you read the rules?

Anyways, yeah Blaziken is picked mostly because the fire starters in previous games were all powerful, but in fact, Blaziken is weak to many gyms. It's powerful because of the moves it learns, but easy to kill because of lots of weaknesses.

Ive raised a blazekin from lvl 5- 67 He is good, has lots of good moves and stats in my opinion but then again any pokemon can be good with the right moves and training. Good luck on your choice.

I don't care what anyone says about my Blaziken, its strong to me here are the moves

Earthquake
Aerial Ace
Flamethrower
Sky uppercut

I think thats a great moveset for a Blaziken

That is the biggest problem about this game. You can give a Poke whatever moveset you want and battling against the weak AI, it will appear good. On one hand, it really is a good thing because you can take ANY Poke in the game, give it whatever moveset you want, and it will still perform pretty well against the AI. On the other hand though, it is a horrible thing because it teaches very bad strategy and if you took one of those Pokes and battled against someone else, you will probably get your behind handed to you.

For example, if I were to battle you I would have no worries about bringing in my Salamence against your Blaziken since you don't have a single attack that would do much damage to it at all. It is immune to Earthquake, and resists the other three moves. Against a regular Blaziken set though I would have to worry about Rock Slide, probably preventing me from switching it in.

I don't want to discredit your moveset since you like it so much, but taking out Earthquake (which isn't needed on Blaziken) and using Rock Slide or even Thunderpunch would make Blaziken even stronger.
