Do Nintendo events make you angry?

These events they do to get all the good Pokemon. They really make me mad, because I simply can't fly over to New York just to get a Pokemon. This is surely the same for loads of other people too - not all of us can get the legendary Pokemon without cheating.

I have an Action Replay, but I don't want to cheat. I want to play my game fair, so I battle properly. The same is for all the other games. What if I want Jirachi and Deoxys in Emerald? What if I want Celebi in Pokemon Crystal? I can't have them.

If the tagline of Pokemon is 'catch 'em all', what's the point in going to Nintendo events to get them? That's not really catching them. It's just doing small puzzles to get them. If they want the game to be challening, they should put in some huge tasks to get them.

What are your opinions?

Virtual Headache March 12th, 2007 11:38 AM

Well, I was never happy about that myself.
We only had just one event here, where you could get Mew and that's it.
So I never got them at all since I don't want to cheat.

But since D/P has WiFi capabilieties now, there might be an option to get them online.
I really hope it will be like that.

And yeah, you've got a point with the 'catch 'em all' thing, but the special Pokémon give aways are just a way to promote Nintendo, I guess.

ck1109 March 12th, 2007 11:49 AM

i agree. and i live in uk so i have no chance of hetting the event pokemon!

I live in the Uk, I have a deoxys, I got it from an event.

When D/p are released, we'll get a tonne.

Vampire March 12th, 2007 1:11 PM

Do they do events in the UK or not? I think I heard about one recently, but then I hear a lot of rumors and whatnot so I'm not sure.

pikachulover306 March 12th, 2007 1:18 PM

They should have them in more states instead of just NY, which really limits the rope for people who cannot fly to NY just to get a pokemon like some people which only leads to cheating for most.

Hippo March 12th, 2007 1:21 PM

They should just sack events and have a thing in the game where you put in a code, then it lets you play a game or something to get the poke. Events are just a pain, i know i'll never get the pokemon or anything. I hope they're done over WiFi for D/P though...

Vampire March 12th, 2007 1:21 PM

Exactly. It would be nice if they could do them in other places too, where people can get to easier. Flying to New York just to get Deoxys sounds rather pointless.

Or just quit events all together and give everyone else a chance at completing their Pokedex :D

Star★Seeker March 12th, 2007 1:37 PM

I wish they did them here in Puerto Rico :disappoin

TB Pro March 12th, 2007 1:39 PM

I hate the events as well it is not like I can just say like "I am going to NY for a couple of days for a pokemon thing" to my mom I mean she would have a cow!I think that they should have them in D/P because of Wi-Fi.
O_o

Forci Stikane March 12th, 2007 3:32 PM

...Yeah, it's the most annoying part of the games...but now we have Wi-Fi, so it should be fixed (and with the combination of PBR & WiiConnect24 on the way, there's no more excuse).

I predict that online tournaments will become the new events.

spike6958 March 12th, 2007 5:46 PM

even with wifi i think they should stop events i would rather nintendo put there time into making a good storyline for the pokemon they would put in events like in emerald they had a good story around groundon, kyroge and rayquaza, but then spoiled the game by hosting events to get deoxys im sick of it i would rather earn my pokemon by catching them in the game

~Night March 12th, 2007 7:01 PM

I've only been to an event once, but most of the time its really boring. If you're really lucky, you only have to wait in line for 3 hours! I missed all the events except the Mew event, so I can't get Celebi or Deoxys or any other pokemon that they give in pokemon events.

Prince Roserade March 12th, 2007 8:59 PM

Nah, it doesn't really bother me. I'm not totally happy about them, but I'm not angry. It'd be cool to meet other fans, but I really don't care about Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, etc. so I'm fine without 'em for the most part. However, I still wish I could for the other merchandise and stuff.

A statue stands in a shaded place,
An angel girl with an upturned face,
Her name is written on a polished rock,
A broken heart that the world forgot,

They NEVER Do anything in Canada. That's my Pokemon Pet Peeve. I want Celebi. I want Sheimi. They don't even do ANY Tounaments here!
Kuri-Chan :7:

Xylitol March 13th, 2007 7:15 AM

I'm pretty annoyed with them, because even if they keep the events here a few years later than other countries, I rarely hear about them or just can't get there for the event. I've never got any event pokemon. I'd love a complete national dex just once.

ck1109 March 13th, 2007 11:27 AM

theres events in uk? where?

Mooshykris March 13th, 2007 11:39 AM

I wouldn't have a problem if they were all like the "Lucario and the Mystery of Mew" event at every single Toys "R" Us in America.

But, these stupid PC ones...

Sakuya March 13th, 2007 11:39 AM

No, not necessarily. I realized that Nintendo does this to promote the games and their own company, though it would be nice if they had specials all over the country and in little cities, not just New York, Los Angeles, Chicago...etc.. Have it on the Internet or in a way that everyone can actually get to them and be able to have the pokemon their promoting or something. :/ But Nintendo events all around I don't mind. It's where they're located that bugs me. >>;

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ March 13th, 2007 2:44 PM

Yes they are all annoying. its not fair that you have to go to an event to get a certain Pokemon. Not all people have time to go to these evnets to get a Pokemon without cheating. This happens to me alot

:t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~

Barker March 13th, 2007 8:43 PM

They should at the very least have an event in every state..

I don't think Nintendo has even heard of Utah. :|

Shiny_Latios March 14th, 2007 9:35 AM

If you live in the UK you're screwed if you don't live close to a nintendo event if it ever happens in the UK like the Dexoy's your screwed so overall yes I make me angry as i fit in both of these things

Auron March 15th, 2007 9:48 AM

True. I wanna all Pokémon. For example, I have Latios in Emerald, and I want my Latias !! And...Well...I want Nintendo events, but not for getting exclusive Pokémon, I want them for meeting new people, bragging, fighting, trading...You guys know what I mean, right ?? xD

Naito March 15th, 2007 11:14 AM

Like someone else said before, it's not the event themselves, but the locations. Nintendo should realise not everyone has the time to travel all over the world just to get one freaking Pokemon. If they're to dis-encourage glitching, importing (since some versions of the Japanese Diamond and Pearl are glitched), and cheating, they should at least put more in other major cities and countries (Such as the UK). Having the first few in Manhattan didn't help either. It's only an one hour drive from where I live, however for other people, they'd have to spend hours, even days, in order to get to events in locations like that.

Bliksem March 18th, 2007 10:14 AM

Events are incredible fun to go to and attend. Getting special Pokemon is a bonus to me. If anything, events should be more widespread and frequent, though I understand that it may not be possible due to expenditures. As for exclusive Pokemon, it's really a SOL for me. I may not get one, but I'm not going to get upset about it.

7se7en March 18th, 2007 5:44 PM

Meh, so what if you cant "catch em all". I killed the Groudon im my Ruby and killed the Kyogre in Sapphire, big deal. But if ur one of those ppl who want them so badly but the Nintendo Events arent in your town, cheat or get over it

(trying to say in the NICEST way possible)

DiamondDust March 19th, 2007 2:44 PM

Obviously, my mum wouldn't let me go because there's a thing called patience and in the UK they came only once and in AMERICA they had lots events.

And seriously it was like the best game in the UK for GBA.

.Bastion March 19th, 2007 3:54 PM

They do make me pretty upset because they make me unable to get some of the cooler legendaries like Celebi and Jirachi. They should make them obtainable in otherways. I mean its not like people can just skip school or something to go to a Nintendo Event.

But with Wifi coming with Diamond and Pearl it'll be a bit easier to get pokemon only obtainable by event right?

Okay it just sounded better when It was in my own head.

piplupbetterthanturwigandchimchar March 21st, 2007 12:47 PM

You know, if you mix records with someone with one of these tickets, you can get your own and they will still have theirs. We got an Eon ticket to southern island from an e-reader card and we mixed records with the others. Try it, it works. That's how I have both Lati's

Red1530 March 21st, 2007 6:08 PM

My main problem with Nintendo Events are that they are located only in a few select cities. If they did what they did at Toys R' Us, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Captain Arcane March 21st, 2007 11:52 PM

Oh yeas, very very much. But hopefully, since that the games are wifi, we might be able to get the tickets or whatever they are from a download!!....... But if Nintendo somehow makes a profit from those events, then they probably wont stop! -_-

Bliksem March 22nd, 2007 12:47 AM

Like I've said, Tickets are merely incentives to go. They may be your main priorities, but most anyone who went to the JAA in the United States can attest to having a great time. You can meet new people (a bunch cute guys play Pokemon *_*) and make new friends, and there's *nothing* better than cheering on a battle on stage, especially with an announcer.

+They're Really Annoying! ^.^ .::. I Hope They Make Events On Wi-Fi.

Lunux March 22nd, 2007 2:48 PM

I really don't care. i have all i need on my team, really.

aquariumboy March 22nd, 2007 4:50 PM

theres always a way to get what you want lol... ill leave it at that.

AC March 22nd, 2007 6:08 PM

Yes I agree with everyone. I am not particulary happy with the events, and I will never cheat on the game. ( I hate gameshark noobs -.-) But since I live in a small town in North East Texas im stuck with never having any events coming to me. Its not a big deal since I really dont care about Jirachi and Deoxeys. Only thing that really iratates me is that even if I have Wi-Fi my computer is still to slow I belive... And I have DSL -.- So to put it in easy terms to understand. I am screwed no matter what... >=[

Volta. March 22nd, 2007 6:48 PM

I dont like cheating, nor do I want to go to an event just for one purpose. I think most of us think that Wi-Fi is the best idea. But Nintendo may think its too easy... =/

I think youd have to beat the E4 first, then download the thing off Wi-Fi, and still have the little quest you have to do (like going to the islands and stuff) only its a lot harder, since, after all, theyll all be availible on Wi-Fi. So youd need like a good long quest thatd take a few days to complete, then youd feel like you'd earned that Pokémon youd been trying so hard to get =P

ethernet March 22nd, 2007 8:26 PM

yes because i cant recieve them because i live in australia

Ledgend of the UnKnOwns March 24th, 2007 6:52 AM

I voted "Yes" on the poll but I would like them (as someone previously mentioned) If they came where I live (Canada) Insted of always being in the US the UK or Japan. I hope they make events over wi-fi, but ... Nintendo is a buissnes. Buissneses like money. (To my knowledge of nintendo events) Nintendo events make money. If im right, nintendo might not let up on the events any time soon.
