Reserving Pokemon Diamond...
Well a couple of weekends ago at eb games there was this sign that said you can reserve Pokemon Diamond and/or Pearl. I have some questions though about it...
1) If you go to reserve it, do you have to pay there, or when you get the game? 2) How long will reservations be of availibilty? Like, my mom says I have to do something for her first before she reserves it for me, but I don't want her to wait to long so that you can't reserve anymore.. 3) How much does Pokemon Diamond cost to reserve? Like, how much is the game itself? |
Well, it may be a bit different based on where you live but when I went to go reserve my copy of Pearl, they had me pay 5 dollars down so that when I came to pick up the copy I would have one reserved for me and I would be discounted 5 dollars off the total price. The game costs 34.99 at original price IIRC.
I'm not too sure how long the deadline is to reserve, but the sooner the better. Sorry I couldn't be too much help on the last question. =/ |
I think they stop reservations a week before the game comes out
|
I can't imagine that they'll be impossible to find without a reservation, so unless you really want the special stylus that comes with pre-ordering, I wouldn't worry too much.
|
I chose to just pay off the entire cost of the game when I reserved it a few months ago. It saved me the frustration and temptation of holding onto the $40 for the game. :P
|
how reserving works: it's usually 5 bucks for reserving. when you go to pick it up, those 5 bucks work towards the purchase. however, just about all stores are selling the games at 39.99 when the retail price is actually 34.99.
you must also consider that your reservation may be overceded when it comes to the supply of games at just one store. i remember reserving Diddy Kong Racing at Gamestop and having classes the day i was supposed to pick it up. i showed up, but i showed up 2 hours before the store closed and they didn't have any more copies left. they weren't able to get anymore of them until a week later, which screwed me over because if i would have ordered it on Amazon, i would have gotten it for 6 bucks less (including standard shipping and handling) two days after it released rather a whole week. it would have been cheaper because of (1) the retail price is below the price sold at the store and (2) the difference between S&H and the tax given at the store. so to sum up, i ordered on Amazon for Pearl and the total with S&H came to $39.50, while the store price is $39.99, and with tax, it'll come to a total of about $43-44. i'd rather pay less and have it be taken to me after a few days wait then pay more and go to the store and find out that they don't have any more copies. |
I'm not real fond of Electronics Boutique myself, so I preordered mine on Amazon. I got the Free Super Saver Shipping thing, so that was taken care of, and it came to $51 Canadian altogether. ($43 US Dollars) That's because taxes are a bit higher in Newfoundland and Labrador.
I never have and never will trust ebGames when it comes to the fact that I want something within a few days of release. Amazon is usually great with that. My last pre-ordered item arrived on release date. |
If i were you i would pre-order. So i can escape all the crazyness of getting it on game day. I would pre-order but i am going to spend all of my $ buying new game from target.

Well thanks a lot for the info guys, it really helped me out. :) Maybe if I can convince my mom that it's cheaper getting it from Amazon then she'll let me..*hopefully* |
I've never had a problem getting a reserved game on its release date—stores shouldn't be taking pre-orders before they have their allocations, and once they do, they shouldn't exceed them. o.o; Just bare in mind that with Amazon, you will have to wait for it to be shipped. I personally think that it'd be faster to just go out and purchase it. Again though, up to you.

I'm just afraid they'll run out before I get a chance to get one. x__x My mom said I couldn't buy it from Amazon. *darnit* But the money problem's with her...I don't mind reserving it as long as I get it the quickest x.x |
I don't think that'll be the case. Pokemon, while still popular, isn't the phenomenon it used to be, so I'm sure you'll be able to find it at a local store like Wal-mart or Target. If you're still concerned, a pre-order from a games store will almost certainly ensure that you get it at launch, plus most places are giving away exclusive styluses with pre-orders.
|
I don't really understand the issue with pre-ordering. I mean usually the extras that come with the pre-order really aren't worth it and you can buy the game from a fully stocked store a week later. That's what I did for Pokemon: FireRed and I got the game about 5 days before my friend who pre-ordered it did.
I'll never understand why people pre-order. Importing is another story however. |

I'm contemplating pre-ordering mine from Best Buy's website. But I wonder... Do they ship it the day it comes out, or a little before? And will I still get my super cool stylus? Does anybody know?
|
I allready paid 22 for the game so I only have like 13 dollars for the game, but I could go and put some mroe down on the game today.

i have all ready got some Pokemon stylus 4 the ds on ebay from japan all i got to do is to know when Pokemon D/P came out in the uk then i will just preorder it on play. com
it better to preorder because u know you will get it |
Scratch what i said earlier. I have just pre-ordered from target yesterday, and i got the stylus and a cool looking gift card. I think if you have atleast $5.00 then go and pre-order. It is really worth it, not only is the stylus and gift card cool, but with target they hold your game for 7 days so that you can wait out the crowds before you get it. Plus i'm getting it a day earlier on the 21st. =]
|
I wonder if I should hold a copy @ Target for a $5 deposit. I wouldn't NEED the stylus, but It'd be cool to have. Do they take your name down? Or is it like a raincheck, where you fill our a form and they give you a carbon copy or something?

That's what the target guy said, and another reason to pre is that the stylus works well with Pokemon ranger for some reason. I recommend getting your pre at target 'cause while your there, they have every single ds game at $24 each. Just another reason the pre there. =D
|
I'm rather lucky...Since I am from England I would have waited until like June 30th but thanks to ebay I can it the same time as you guys I've already put £100 in my paypal JUST to make sure
|
Yea I'm also getting mines a day early
:t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~ |
Most places that offer pre-orders tend to use overnight shipping on their stock, so yeah, if you pre-order, you should get it sooner. If you really want the game, it's almost guaranteed that you'll have it by release if you pre-order it. You should go ahead and do it, unless I've missed a reason why you can't. o.o;
|
Same here, i live in england but now i have pre-ordered i should get it at the same time as the usa for a cheap price.I am crazy about this game,i can smell the games in the air.I wonder if ill get the free ds stylus...
|
I just pre-ordered. They were out of Diamond, so I had to settle for Pearl.
Is it just me or is Pearl looking like the Blue version of this generation? Less people interested... Anyway, I got my super cool Palkia stylus. Something about playing Metroid with my new stylus makes me rule ten times harder at it. I love Pokemon. |
teehee i knew pearl would sell less... that's why i ordered it! XD
|
Why is that?....Do people prefer the Box Art lol

Plus yeah. Everyone wuvs blue lol and if they do get Diamond I would see why they choose it for the color/Dialga, because what else is different from the two? |
More people chose Red version because it had Charzard on the cover.
Palkia looks weird if you're not used to it. Dialga looks less odd at first, I think. Plus, Diamond, is the hardest substance on Earth. Definitely more notable than Pearls. |

ho-oh says
This is what i know 1. You must deposit 5$ for the reserve 2. for gamestop, you get the stylus after the release of the game. at target, you get the stylus of your choice as soon as you preorder. 3. Usually, pokemon games cost 35$ 4. The reserve copy is held 2-4 days after initial release hope this helps, ho-oh |

Of course it is. just pointing out the max number of days before the game is taken off hold.

Paying it off fully when i go to is more convinet 4 me cuz i dont need to worry about not spending my money b4 the game comes out and not having enough to get it the day it comes out and il be mad so i just pay it off all they when i go to pre order
|
I reserved Diamond but now that I think of it, I'm gonna go back to my local Target and see if I can switch my preorder to Pearl instead. Reading that Pearl would be unpopular, there would be 2 advantages to it:
1) All the Pokemon I like are on Diamond (the version exclusives) but I figure, if there are less Pearl versions out there, that would make finding trades relatively easy 2) Probably, if I didn't pick up my copy the day after its release, I could probably have a better chance of finding Pearl copies rather than Diamond. I think too much don't I? >.> But what is all this talk about Target releasing it on the 24th for preordered customers? I don't remember them telling me that when I reserved my copy >.> |
I went down yesterday to preorder... after noticing the only people in the mall were near hometown buffet, I remembered what day it was -.- The ONE day I have time to go and preorder, and it HAS to be easter -.- store closed
and to above poster, people who preorder online have to wait 3 days for it to ship to them =P |
OH! those are for those who preordered online... I see, that makes sense.
That sucks though, the only time you're free is on Easter? =/ But still, even if it ships on the 21st for them, UPS/USPS/FedEx don't deliver on Sundays, so they HAVE to ship on the 21st. |
