Dialga or Palkia

With the new games, D/P, coming closer to relese in the US what version exlusive legendary do think or know will be better, Dialga or Palkia? And why?

Rainy March 29th, 2007 4:03 PM

I have know Idea what their types are. But, I'm guessing Dialga.

Midnight Beat March 29th, 2007 4:17 PM

Dialga is steel/dragon and Palkia is water/dragon

Ho-oh arabia March 29th, 2007 4:39 PM

I think Dialga will be 100% better than Palkia

Any particular reason for your answer

RedGyarados March 29th, 2007 6:24 PM

Palkia will be 1,000% better than Dialga

Taemin March 29th, 2007 6:36 PM

I'm assuming Dialga will be the better of the two, but I like Palkia better.. its sort of wolf-like. <3

Demonic March 29th, 2007 6:42 PM

honestly i like dialga better, palkia's arms look weird...

Man, I'm right there with you. Plus I think he looks alot cooler

Paranoia March 29th, 2007 8:41 PM

I think Palkia will be alot better than Dialga, this is because of Dialga's type. Dialga is a Steel/Dragon, Whereas Palkia is a Water/Dragon. This makes Dialga weak to these following types:

Normal - Half Damage
Fire - Normal Damage
Water - Half Damage
Electric - Half Damage
Grass - Quarter Damage
Ice - Normal Damage
Fight - 2x Super Effective
Poison - No Damage
Ground - 2x Super Effective
Flying - Half Damage
Psychic - Half Damage
Bug - Half Damage
Rock - Half Damage
Ghost - Half Damage
Dragon - Normal Damage
Dark - Half Damage
Steel - Half Damage

What will screw him up is that he's weak to ground, And what is the most commonly used ground move? Yes! thats right it's EARTHQUAKE, And because Palkia can learn it, Dialga doesn't really stand a chance because Palkia's base speed stat is 10 points higher, so Palkia will always outrun him, He's also weak to Fighting, which D/P brought plenty of fighting moves in, Such as Pulse Bomb, with a power of 90, and it cannot miss.

Here are Palkia's weaknesses:

Normal - Normal Damage
Fire - Quarter Damage
Water - Quarter Damage
Electric - Normal Damage
Grass - Normal Damage
Ice - Normal Damage
Fight - Normal Damage
Poison - Normal Damage
Ground - Normal Damage
Flying - Normal Damage
Psychic - Normal Damage
Bug - Normal Damage
Rock - Normal Damage
Ghost - Normal Damage
Dragon - 2x Super Effective
Dark - Normal Damage
Steel - Half Damage

So yeah, Palkia has WAY better defenses then Dialga, although Dialga's Time Roar will be a ***** to Palkia,as 150 power STAB so thats like 225 power and it's super effective to Palkia, Yikes! Other than that move, I think Palkia will own Dialga.

some things i dont understand about your list (and theory) is that, based on the list, what you said you make palkia practically equal to dialga. heres what i think.

Here are Palkia's weaknesses:

Normal - Half Damage
Fire - Normal Damage : something tells me you just copied the two lists, or just forgot to change this. water and dragon together and fire doing normal damage?
Water - Half Damage
Electric - 2x Super Effective : Palkias dragon part voids his water parts weakness to electricity
Grass - Normal Damage
Ice - Quarter Damage
Fight - 2x Super Effective : since when has dragon or water either been weak to fighting?
Poison - No Damage
Ground - 2x Super Effective : same thing as fighting, water and dragon arent weak to ground.
Flying - Half Damage
Psychic - Half Damage
Bug - Half Damage
Rock - Half Damage
Ghost - Half Damage
Dragon - Half Damage : Dragon is weak to dragon in case you forgot, and since water isnt, id say that palkia (and dialga) are weak to dragon.
Dark - Half Damage
Steel - Quarter Damage

although i prefer dialga in image and on my personal likings, i think palkia has a slight advantage with their given types.

Omg, lol sorry i was looking at Water/Steel types not Water/Dragon, lol I just relised. I EDITed my earlier post so its correct now.

Ok, why do you say that? All the facts say that Pialga is better.

Gourmet Popcorn March 30th, 2007 7:57 PM

seriously, if you look at the all the attacks and there power you will see that dailga is 10000% better

But the weakness and resistance favors Palkia

Gourmet Popcorn March 30th, 2007 8:01 PM

but palkias attacks are weaker. anyway more than 1/2 of the people think dailga is better.

Fine, this is place of opinions and you are free to yours,

Canthinkofaname March 30th, 2007 8:07 PM

Well, id say their practicall equal. i mean, dialga is weak to fighting and ground. but his steel counterpart weakens his dragon weakness hed have without steel. seeing as palkia is still weak to dragon and dialga isnt, that could be bad. you have to take the moves they learn into consideration. dialga learns a 150 damage dragon move at lvl 40, meaning it already has it. palkia doesnt learn any fighting or ground moves until after 60. assuming the battle between them is after they are caught, dialga would most likely win because of the move it has. would good is a weakness if you dont have any moves of that type, right?

Gourmet Popcorn March 30th, 2007 8:08 PM

your not thinking about it. look at the attack powerful dailga and compare it with palkia you will see that dailga is 10000000000000000000% better

You have got a point there. But I guess that balances things out. Hey question to anyone with an answer, what level do you catch Dialga/Palkia at?

we realise you like to make up impossible percentages, but dude, there the same thing basically.
PALKIA:
Hp - 90
Atk - 120
Def - 100
SpAtk - 150
SpDef - 120
Spd - 100

DIALGA:
Hp - 100
Atk - 120
Def - 120
SpAtk - 150
SpDef - 100
Spd - 90

Dialga has more health, but Palkia has more speed. Dialga has more defense, but Palkia has more Special defense. other than that, they are equal. and considering all the facts, neither one is better. its a matter of opinion and personal tastes for which one you want

also, i think 47, thats what it says on serebii. they could be mistaken though

Master Trainer Empoleon March 30th, 2007 8:25 PM

I have a preference for Dialga. I think he/it looks better than Palkia. Other than that, they're evenly matched (When was the last time you've seen 2 pokemon so evenly matched?)

Midnight Beat March 30th, 2007 9:17 PM

Level 47, huh that seems off. But ok

RockLuke March 30th, 2007 9:31 PM

I prefer Palkia but I know that Dialga will sadly be far better.
