This is the first map I've ever made, appropriately for my new hack. Using AdvanceMap is so easy. :D

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get it right dimension-wise, as it ends up being larger than Pallet Town's actual dimensions. Another problem I have is finding the right border... and the scripts I made not working. =.= Anyway, here it is.

hey,

this is my first map, so don't go off your nut, this is the top of a route that i made for my hack, it is between a foresty town and leading up to a more modern town.

i know there is a missing tile on the tree and that the stairs weren't really needed, i put them in cuz my bro wouldn't stop anoying me until i did it,

Well, that's certainly an interesting map. It's got more grass than it needs, but it's not too bad overall. It has a forest-maze kind of feel to it, which, in a way, fits your description, but to me it feels like it's lacking something. The stairs aren't too much of a problem, but you can obviously get rid of them later. :D

I'd personally give this map a 6.5/10, and the only thing I could suggest is to make it feel more like a maze. Remove most of those bushes and add more trees, mixing it around a bit until you have something that fits your description perfectly.

COMMENT: Your map has a lot of tile errors and misused tiles. The map doesn't even have the 'feel' of being a map.

honestly I prefer the gbc one! I'll rate the gbc one 4/5 because of it's awsome vegitation and yet it still looks like a penencula (thats a good thing). The houses are nicely placed and the playability rocks. but why is the water empty?

gba: The same thing goes except that the vegitation it's not quite as good.I don't like the pallets as much and the flower blends too much. the playability is better though. the water is empty here too? all in all 7/10

Comments: There is no wild grass above the waterfall because you don't have you're first pokémon yet. You can't go down the stairs until after some events are finished. The path leading into the tree is an entrance to a forest.

Mm, I really love the combination of tiles and palettes. Especially the path.
Anyways, the map itself is also very good. That row of flowers at the very top looks a little odd. I'd shorten it to two (by removing the right-most flower) but that's up to you. Besides those three, all the other uses of flowers are perfect. Hm, you got the waterfall right ;) Grass placement is good but there's not a whole lot of it. Adding more would probably make things too crowded but at the same time, is doesn't take much to traverse the Route. I'm not too fond of the usage of small trees. I dunno what it is but I suppose it's passable. One thing I definitely don't like is the way you've used a set of stairs directly above another level of stairs. It looks bad the way I see it. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about that as I'm afraid you would have to expand the mountain to accommodate for an extra level and that would, in turn, invade on the space of the lowest level. Speaking of that mountain thing, the vegetation on it is a little iffy. I think there are just a tad too many bushes and small trees for my taste. Maybe try to vary it up a bit? Finally, the ledge is odd. If I were you, I'd just keep it simple by making it straight.

COMMENT: It looks really nice, but in that path leading north, the signpost is like, blocking one of our ways...

Pretty good map. The shape of it is pretty good, and the spacing of things is great. I know this is not a tile rating thread, but I think you should either change the grass tiles, or the path tiles, since they don't really match each other.

Well, I gotta say, it is a bit square, but it isn't terrible.
I think you are using a bit to much grass... just a thought...

I call it "The Nightmare World Of Darkrai!"
the story behind this map is an event which you feel sick and go to an evil doctor called Zinger,he says that he's got a new healing method which you just need to sleep in the bad for about a 5 minutes,and then you will be automitacly cured,sounds weird isn't it?,if you say him yes you will go to sleep in the bad and after a second you'll find yourself in the The Nightmare World Of Darkrai,there you'll face Darkrai who tries too kill you,after you beat/catch him you will wake up and Zinger will discover that you haven't died and then you will have a pokemon fight against him,if you beat him officers will come to arrest him.nice story isn't it?(too bad that I won't be able to script it -_____-)anyway darkrai should be in the middle of the stairs mountain(I couldn't find a picture that would be good for him....)hope to recieve nice comments

Misuse of tiles,
127 Tile-Errors... o.o
2 moons?! (Different planet?)
Straight mountains... Ugh.. >.<
Border errors

Up's:
Graphically nice tiles
Good insertion of tiles
Good map "concept"
Good story? xD

Comments:
Fix the sky so that the sky tiles have the same color as star/moon BGs.
Fix the other 33 tile errors,
Remove a moon
Try to not make TOO straight mountains.

Fix this and post again, and you should get better comments -.-

This was a project I was doing when I first found Pokecommunity. I was making 3 caves/dungeons that contained the 3 legendary bird Pokemon for emerald. I came here to learn scripting so I could add a small team rocket-based plot to go along with it. For some reason when I started to add text scripts the text got all messed up, and I have no clue how to fix it (pm me if you think you can help btw) so I just gave up.

This is my favorite area in the whole planned hack, and one of the first areas I worked on. (I said planned because I only did like 2 areas other than this one lol.)

I have a full cave to go along with it... should I post the rest? Oh and btw, the cave is called Frost Cave, and once you enter this particular map (and the one below it) it's call Frost Cave Depths. (The first 3 levels above this one don't have ice.)
