Level Cap For Pokemon in D/P

Do u guys think they should raise the max level for ur pokemon jsut a lttle and make it a harder to get there, because i mean i could sit down and really play it and get a pokemon to level 90 in no time and i think that is just way to easy so i think the max level should be raised to make the game just a ltlle more harder for all us hardcore POKEMON players

Canthinkofaname April 7th, 2007 8:55 PM

the cap is 100 not 90, but yeah i agree. lvl 100 is a cool lvl, but its too old. Theres hardly any games that go past 100. i think they should make it like, 150 or 200 or something. that would be much cooler

diamondisgonnarock April 7th, 2007 9:12 PM

i knew the lvl was 100 but i was just saying that they shoukd raise it to 175 i think

Samson April 7th, 2007 10:52 PM

no. not past level 100. what they could do is increase the EXP pts needed. they've done it a couple times.

Innagadadavida April 7th, 2007 10:57 PM

I don't think it's a very smart idea to raise the exp points to level up. That only appeals to the hardcore audience. I think more casual gamers would get frustrated having to battle constantly just to keep up with the game.

Samson April 7th, 2007 11:05 PM

true, which is why it's silly of the other two casual gamers who've posted in this thread to think that raising the level number is any different/smarter.

Ichida April 8th, 2007 2:11 AM

Raising the level cap?

...um, no. <.<;;

diamondisgonnarock April 8th, 2007 5:55 AM

its just what u like ur self, i mean if u like siting down and playing and have fun that lvl 100 pokemon is good, but if u like a challange and working real hard to max out what ur doin then i think 175 is perfect for us

Gummy April 8th, 2007 6:11 AM

And what do you plan doing with a Lvl 175 Pokemon? The Pokemon League will become childs play to you (as it already is at Lvl 100) and online battle will be EXTREMELY boring. The current Lvl cap is good.

There was a bit of a discussion about this a while back, before D/P were released in Japan. The general feeling was that it was a bad idea.

For one thing, raising the level cap would result in having to spend a LOT more time raising your Pokemon for battles, as the in-game Pokemon would have to be raised in average level to even this out (can you imagine a LV125 E4? *shudder*). That wouldn't be very fun for the more casual players, would it? On top of that, you would probably have Evolution levels raised along with the level cap...

So, my answer is NO. We need to leave the "level cap" where it is.

diamondisgonnarock April 8th, 2007 8:52 AM

The cap is good dont get me wrong BUT it could make the game just a little bit better for players that like to spend time

Captain Arcane April 8th, 2007 8:54 AM

In my opinion, I'm tired of only training my Pokemon to Lv.100, I wanna go so much farther. Plus, its really unrealistic, but Pokemon is not based on realality, its based on fantasy.... still, my opnion stands strong, I want higher lv Pokemon *bashing podium with fist*

diamondisgonnarock April 8th, 2007 9:11 AM

yah thanx, c it would make it a totaly new game if they did that it would be sweet means more time playing and not wondering that im 100 and cant do anything else...

Trainer Kat April 8th, 2007 10:02 AM

I suppose they could always have a hard mode where the level cap is raised..but the game would be way too big for the cartridge. O_o

.Bastion April 8th, 2007 10:10 AM

I think the level cap is fine as is.

What I think they should do, is increase the difficulty level so others will have a more challenging time rather than breezing through the game and wanting pokemon past level 100 in the first place. They need an easy, normal, and hard mode. Like where the opponent actually switches and has a strategy. ._.

Whats the point of that? If they ever raised the level cap, some people would want to be original and only train there Pokemon to lv. 100, or some people will train Pokemon until they get tired of traning them, and others will train to the very top. So, I see no reason to make a hard mode, or any other mode. Also, D and P mark the end of Pokemon games on the GBA I think, so in this case it would fit on the cartridge, seeing how much the DS cartridges can hold (TONS).

While a majority of members on this forum are hardcore Pokemon players. Hardcore Pokemon players represent a vast minority of the total audience. Think about all of the little kids, who just barily know how to read, you have seen play Pokemon.

Diamond and Pearl are on the DS...
That would work, except, the people who had their Pokemon on LV. 175 would want to showcase them, and wouldn't want to lower their level to fight those who hadn't trained as far.
Plus, no other games have levels over 100, at least, none that I can think of...
You'd just breeze through the game.

Okay when I frist started playing Pokemon (when it first came out), I was in first grade. I had no idea what I was doing, I didn't even know how to walk out of Red's house, I didn't even know that that was a door mat by the door. I didn't even really understand the game, but I had tons of fun, and I played it all the time. And after a while, I knew exactly what I was doind, I understood the game, and everything. So, if they raised the Lv. cap, by the time these little kids got there Pokemon to, oh, lets say lv.200, they would completely understand the game, and what was going on. We're humans, we adapt and learn.

What are you talking about??? You can't trade Pokemon back to Emerald and the other games once you've entered them into Pal Park.

diamondisgonnarock April 8th, 2007 11:08 AM

just insert them into both slots on the DS, so yah u can...least thats wut i heard

Dragon Leader-Shadow April 8th, 2007 11:53 AM

They based kinda like what happend in FR/LG, where after you beat the elite four everyone becomes harder. The elite four also get a lot stonger.

Gulpin April 8th, 2007 12:02 PM

What I think is that they could put an item in the game that anyone can find, that you can give to a Pokemon of you're choice that will let it go to a higher level than 100, for people who want more levels. And, so people who think lv.100 is fine just don't have to use the item.

that sounds lik it would work best for the poke plsyers and not the little kids who dont o what hey r doin :)

O.o What I'm talking about is you said "Also, D and P mark the end of Pokemon games on the GBA I think, so in this case it would fit on the cartridge, seeing how much the DS cartridges can hold (TONS)."

My response was that Diamond and Pearl are not on the GBA but on the DS. What any of this has to do with trading, I have no clue...
If you're talking about "no other game has levels over 100," I wasn't referring only to Pokemon, but any game. My point was, I cannot think of a single game in which you can get above level 100. I should have made myself clearer.
But getting back on the topic at hand, I think Wooper's idea would be good. That way, the level cap stays at 100, unless you choose to raise it. And you don't inadvertantly level it up.

diamondisgonnarock April 8th, 2007 1:18 PM

this is the last game of pokemon on game boy so it wont happen for the game boy BUT, they are going to make games for the wii so we could see this happen sometime in the near future, an yes u can trade pokemon between games just not on wi fi.
