How many people aim/will aim for EVs?

With Diamond and Pearl coming up which includes the Wifi capability, is anyone going to, or are preparing pokemon that are getting EVs? I personally do not aim for them nor do I think about it when I play.

Lunux April 11th, 2007 11:41 AM

I definately not going for EV's. i just don't think about it either. i raise the pokemon naturally not caring about those.

idontnoWHOiam April 11th, 2007 11:44 AM

I'm not going to care about them until after I beat the game, when I begin to play competitively over wifi.

Same here.
I'm going to beat it once then afterward, make a team.
I care about EVs, but they're so hard to do when you can only train on a couple of pokes in the beginning.

The Holy Shoe April 11th, 2007 12:03 PM

When/if I get it... I'll probably play through first without really paying attention to EVs and then, later, once the game is through, I'll worry about them.

.Bastion April 11th, 2007 12:29 PM

I'll definitely work on it post elite four. Since Wifi will encourage me to battle more competitively, I've got to make sure that my team's potential can be fully maximized.

Forci Stikane April 11th, 2007 12:58 PM

See my sig.

...Isn't this more of a general Pokemon discussion than D/P-specific, though?

I was referring to this game because this offers online play.

Astinus April 11th, 2007 1:54 PM

As soon as I play through the game and know how things work, then I will focus on EV training. It's the way I always do things in a Pokemon game: wait until I have more control before planning things. In the beginning, I focus on getting through the game.

Kuri-Chan ♪ April 11th, 2007 2:06 PM

I don't bother with EV's until I beat the Elite - when I start to really breed and search for EVs. I mainly even EV train JUST to beat my brother...

ChrisG14 April 11th, 2007 2:47 PM

I'm not big on EVs, what happens is what happens.

Billiken April 11th, 2007 3:59 PM

I don't acctualy know what EVs and IVs are? so obviously i don't know what i will be doing in regards to aiming for them...

Gary, the Magic Fairy April 11th, 2007 4:53 PM

No. I don't care about them at all. I just play the game. If I'm going to waste my time playing, I'm going to actually do something instead of training for something I don't even notice.

Samson April 11th, 2007 8:06 PM

wow Action Replay > you all.

i'm going to battle wild pokemon with perfect EV values early on in the game (in the first route to be precise lol). i cheat with class XD

_Prince_ April 11th, 2007 9:31 PM

When I get the games, yes I will EV train my pokemon for the Wifi battles.

Te-em April 11th, 2007 11:10 PM

I only EV train in the game I'm good at. I will go through my Diamond without EV training and then start from the beginning again, and EV train. I EV train at the older games right now. But I dare not train to much at my Ruby, since I think the pkmn ruby game's batteries will run out soon (have saved and loaded so much), so I trade the Pokémon to other versions. I expect the save file will disappear anytime.

You HAX0R, lolzerz

Anyway I am going to EV train but just like Samson, I'm gonna hack (Only Wi-Fi random battles, with my lvl 100 Charizard with 999 in all stats, Muha) I won't hack in direct friend code battles though.

Are you serious? Because that's so lame, I thought that was only in PBR, that it could check the stats to see if they were legit, Did you try it out on the Jap version of D/P? (If you have it?)

That, and you'd probably be removed from the battle group for having such bad stats. So the only thing cheating would be good on is live battling and NPC battles.

Not that you should be abusing NPC matches this way, unless it DOES give you fun in the game. ;x

(Oh, and Pokémon with incorrect stats and moves cannot be uploaded into Pal Park.)

I figured as much...but what about EV-boosted stats? Are the EVs themselves re-adjusted to fit the level or what?

Ichida April 12th, 2007 9:38 AM

All I'll do is buy 10 vitamins for every stat and one for HP, feed it to my Pokemon after it's hatched, then powerlevel it with EXP Share against the Elite Four, them being the highest level pokemon available to earn EXP off of. That's pretty much what I did with the team i have now in Emerald/LeafGreen.

Te-em April 13th, 2007 1:17 AM

I have heard that Lv.100 Pokémonn get better stat for their ev. (You put them in the box after training since they cannot level up). I think that is becouse, for instance if you have a pkmn at, say, lv20. For each 4th ev one stat increase. This Lv.20 gets, for instance, 21 ev before level up and thus one ev is wasted. 20/5 is 4 so the stat increase by 4 but the 1 remaining ev is useless. By training a pkmn that get all the ev before level up, like a very high lv pkmn defeating very low lv, will be stronger.

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ April 13th, 2007 3:02 AM

I didn't want to AIM for EV in any Pokemon game but now I have to all because there is wifi connections

:t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~

Te-em April 13th, 2007 3:13 AM

It would have been easier wihtout the Evs and instead have something like the Seiken Densetsu Level up system.

Sammi April 13th, 2007 3:19 AM

I won't. I never have, I won't start with online play. I doubt I'll be online much anyway, so why does it matter? I don't have the patience to find and battle specific Pokémon just to take advantage of certain stats, even if I do have the Macho Brace and Pokerus or whatever it's called. And don't get me started on breeding for IVs and egg moves. -_-; Okay, so maybe I'd breed for egg moves, but not IVs.

Elmo's Fabric Of Time!! April 13th, 2007 3:26 AM

I'll do it before and after the Elite Four because I want to use the game to it's full potential. :3
