Shiney Pokemon

Hey I just joined I’ve been looked for a good pokemon forum for a while and I think I’ve found the right place.

Back to topic, has anyone ever capture a shiny Pokemon besides the Gyarados? I capture a gold Caterpie which is now a pink Butterfree, along with Mew it’s one of my greatest poke-related achievements.

I met a gilt Rattata, but I didn't have poke balls.:'(

ChrisG14 April 13th, 2007 9:13 AM

I think I had a Shiny Bellsprout or it had Pokerus, I don't remember.

matt_the_master_trainer April 13th, 2007 9:16 AM

the first pokemon i cought after getting my Bulbasaur on FireRed was a shiny Pidgey. On Ruby as soon as I walked out of Team Magma's hideout I caught a shiny Wingull.

I believe on my Gold version I caught a red Machoke. Can't remember where it was though. These Pokémon really appear so unexpectedly.

I've caught a black Zubat, and now it's a black Golbat, and when I was fishing on the route above Vermillion city, I got a light blue Poliwirlh:D now it's a green Poliwrath

Well, i have just caught the red Gyarados xD

lilyc0ve May 7th, 2007 9:55 AM

Yeah, a shiny Venomoth :)

darksage78 May 7th, 2007 1:04 PM

I've caught a shiney Nidoran (male) in Crystal thats about it. But I did that thing where you trade Shiney Gyrados to r/b/y and then encounter a Ditto and let it transform into the Gyrados. I caught the Ditto after and transferred it back to my Crystal and sure enough it was Shiney. Then I bred it with several other Pokemon, I ended up with Shiney: Magby, Elekid, Squirtle and Charmander :)Of course it doesn't work 100% of the time, but it was nice to get some. Does this still work in D/P?

Always and Never May 7th, 2007 4:17 PM

Shiny Lugia :D

Caught it last month after talking to it a million times, DX

Barboach May 7th, 2007 4:47 PM

Atabas May 8th, 2007 3:18 AM

I got a shiny latias
that was pure luck and talkin to it with an Eon ticket
(It took age's)
Ive also got a shiny Torkoal which is worthless to me

on gold and silver
different story
I got six shinys on that game
Snorlax
Lapras
Lugia
Ho oh
Entei
houndour

the first four were me talking and reseting
the other 2 were pure luck
oh an as far as I know
shinyness don't get passed down through breeding as a deffinet (the baby won't deffinitly be a shiny pokemon)
you still get the 1/8000something chance of getting it

In GSC, you can pass down shininess through breeding. If one parent is shiny, the odds of the child being shiny are 1/64. (It's impossible to breed two shiny Pokemon, so the odds are never more than that.)

darksage78 May 8th, 2007 3:04 PM

Does the breeding thing still hold true for D/S?

Erimgard May 10th, 2007 7:41 AM

All I have is a shiny Ditto (blue) in fire red
so does breeding a shiny ditto with another pokemon in fire red increase the chances that the baby will be shiny?

Bekki May 16th, 2007 5:39 AM

I don't know about that.

In gold I had a shiny Tanglea and that's about it.

Elite 4 Sam May 20th, 2007 3:49 PM

No. Breeding only passes on shininess in GSC; it does not in any GBA or DS Pokemon game.
