By anychance did you have a 3rd gen game card inserted into your DS? FR/LG/R/S/E?
If so that is why it would of appeared pretty much like when you have leaf green inserted and you have the national dex Gengars start appearing and are able to be caught in the Old Chateau.

You only need to touch the screen to see where're treasures in the wall. When you find one step right infront of the wal and press A button. ;)

How do I get into Mt. Coronet?

I'm at Mt. Coronet and I can't get through the door I followed a walkthrough and everything worked until I got to the door and it was closed.

This is assuming you're referring to Platinum at the point where you go up to Spear Pillar.

It probably means there's something you forgot to do beforehand. After you beat Cyrus, did you remember to go into the back room/laboratory, defeat Saturn, then press the switch to set the three captured Pokemon free?

Hi this might sound like a stupid question but is the Battle Frontier Island the same on Diamond as on Platinum? I mean with the Fight Area and everything.

Thanks

Only the Battle Tower is in Diamond, not the rest of the Frontier facilities. However, the Battle Tower is pretty much the same in both games, including Tower Tycoon Palmer and his Pokemon team and their movesets.

This may seem lika a dumb question but i would like confirmation....
Is Rotom a legendary?

Christopher November 23rd, 2010 1:14 PM

yes and no yes as in there is only 1 catchable in-game No due to its stats and the fact you can breed it with a ditto. so more No than Yes IMO

Pokeradar chain question

So, I'm trying to chain a bagon to eventually get a shiny salamance. The problem is, whenever I get much past a chain of 5 I run into a different pokemon and it breaks my chain. I ran into the right type of grass and everything. Is there some trick to stopping this? Perhaps there's some tiny difference in the way the grass shakes? (This was the sparkly grass that shakes 3 times.)
thanks!

This chaining guide is phenomenal.

For Bagon, you must always walk into grass with white flecks. Also, walk into a patch of grass that is on the 4th ring from your starting position; you'll have to watch the video to understand better. Certain patterns are luckier than others, too, if only I remembered the source....

sanshroo November 27th, 2010 2:19 AM

Abilities that activate weather on entering the battle field are snow cloak, sand stream, drought, and Drizzle.

When two pokemon that have these abilities enter the battle field at the same time the SLOWEST pokemon's is the one that works. The other just gets canceled out.

But but but choice scarf.

Take an example and consider:

Abomasnow @ Leftovers
Speed=233

Tyranitar @ choice scarf
Speed=231

What happens? The actual value for each pokemon's speed stat would mean there would be sandstorm, but if it depends on the in game speed, the prevailing weather condition would be hail.

Also, I have an abomasnow and choice scarf, so if anyone with a slow tyranitar would like to test this I would appreciate it.

Rotom cannot breed, and there is only one per game, however it is not considered a legendary. Some call it a psudo-legendary, but that is a matter of opinion.

I think you confused snow cloak with snow warning.

Are Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum the same games?

And Is Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald the same games?

Just with little changes? If so on both gens, which games should I get?

Chatot Lover November 29th, 2010 8:20 AM

Diamond and Pearl are the same games just like Ruby and Sapphire are the same. The main difference is which Pokémon you can catch in each version.

Platinum is just slighty different from Diamond and Pearl, for example, the story is not completely the same and there is a new area with a battle tower and stuff.

Emerald doesn't even change in the story compared to Ruby and Sapphire, but there is a Battle Park or something. Also, the Pokémon move in the battle.

I would suggest getting Emerald and Platinum as those games have new features which the older ones didn't have and you won't miss anything.

Amore November 29th, 2010 11:56 AM

Emerald doesn't change?

It changes completely.....you get both evil teams......different 8th gym leader and champion.......different version mascot, and capture r/s mascots (like Platinum, where you can capture D/P's version mascots too)......there's a Battle Frontier (like Platinum, only better).....graphical upgrades(both games needed this).......different pokémon (like Platinum, except Platinum added 50+ onto the pokédex too).....

Platinum is a lot faster than D/P too...so I'd definitely recommend Emerald and Platinum...sorry, I just felt the need to advertise how good Emerald is. :D

Incorrect, Rotom can in fact breed, it is in the Indeterminate egg group. However, Rotom is not a legendary, despite the legendary encounter theme playing when you battle it.

Haunter stats increase when evolving

Hey!

So I'm running an emulated pokemon platinum, and I cannot use trading to evolve the pokemon that require trading, so instead I'm hacking the save file to "evolve" them, the problem is, I want to be as legit as possible, but I haven't got the faintest clue how the stats should change.

I've now got a level 35 haunter I'm going to change in to a gengar, but I'm sure there's some kind of a stats change when evolving, so I need to know how the stats change, approximately, so I can adjust accordingly.

The current stats of my haunter are:

Max HP: 86
Attack: 50
Defence: 43
Speed: 72
Sp.Attack: 98
Sp.Defence: 56

IVs are:

HP: 25
Attack: 23
Defence: 13
Speed: 17
Sp.Attack: 31
Sp.Defence: 22

EVs are:

HP: 16
Attack: 35
Defence: 31
Speed: 39
Sp.Attack: 27
Sp.Defence: 1

Sassy nature if that matters.

So now that I'm changing this pokemon in to a Gengar, what should change and approximately by how much?

Thanks.

bobandbill December 1st, 2010 6:32 PM

I used an IV calculator - it spat out the following stats for a level 35 gengar with those IVs/EVs:
Quote:

Max HP: 97
Attack: 61
Defence: 54
Speed: 81
Sp.Attack: 108
Sp.Defence: 71

No, I believe trading is one-way (like with 3rd to 4th gen games), and even if it did go both ways you would not be able to transfer gen 5 Pokemon to 4th gen games (as there is no data for them in said 4th gen games).

Yes - in D/P/Pt they're catchable in the trophy garden (accessible ~ halfway in terms of gyms at the latest I believe, maybe earlier).

OldPokeGuy December 4th, 2010 7:49 AM

Hey again folks

Need help with generating IVs for a level 1 squirtle.

I have to make the pokemon from scratch, but I need as close to legit IVs for it as possible. It's just for my peace of mind though.

The pokemon doesn't have any stats yet, obviously.

I don't really get the whole IV thing so, any help would be appreciated :)

Kenshin5 December 4th, 2010 9:14 AM

If you engage in IV battle which is Level 100 Single, then calculating the IV's will become easier because the stats will be boosted as if it was leveled to 100.

Platinummaster1 December 4th, 2010 11:10 AM

How often does a wild pikachu hold a light ball because when ever i went to catch them ( looked a few hours for one ) they wont be holding a light ball.

Kenshin5 December 4th, 2010 11:13 AM

Chances of Light Ball being a Hold Item are 5%.

I'm sorry, but somehow I didn't get at all what you meant. What is this IV battle you talk of, for starters?

Griffinbane December 4th, 2010 3:02 PM

An IV battle is just a regular Lv. 100 wifi battle. Your pokemon is temporarily boosted to level 100, their stats included. Those stats are what you plug into the calculator to find out their IVs....but then again, you're on an emulator, aren't you? So moot point. =/

OldPokeGuy December 4th, 2010 3:58 PM

Yeah I am, and that wouldn't work obviously since there are no stats to boost, and IVs to "find out", even if I could do that with the emulator.

Basicly, I just need to know how many points of IVs I can place for a squirtle, and what is the logic in how they are distributed between the different stats?

Because I figure the only way is to just type in random numbers. I just don't know how many and how to distribute them.

Griffinbane December 4th, 2010 9:04 PM

http://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/Calculators/IV.aspx

After tinkering a little with Squirtle stats, here's what I've got:
Lv. 1 Adamant Squirtle
Stats: 12/6/6/5/6/6 (this is HP|Att|Def|SpA|SpD|Speed, mind you)
IVs: 12-31 HP|4-31 Att|0-31 Def|0-31 SpA|0-31 SpD|14-31 Speed
(oh look, I think I got high stats)

Elekid cannot breed as it is in the No Eggs Egg Group. You will have to evolve it into an Electabuzz.

but wait

some people who play pokemon are harxcore gamers who want to do EVERYTHING. this includes the national pokedex.

and you can only get glaceon and leafeon in D/P/Pt

so, how would that work if it was only one way?

Griffinbane December 5th, 2010 10:10 AM

Simple, really. You obtain the Glaceon/Leafeon in DPP and transfer it to B/W.
Edit: Or trade. Eh, the one thing I forget...

Above Solaceon town there's all those trainers and there's a breeder on the other side of the ledge, use the Vs. Seeker. She had a Happiny that gives round about 900-950 Exp, use the Exp share for 1200+ everytime, she also has an Elekid or Magby I think, along with a togepi so thats about 1900+ Exp for one battle :o

Hatch and release them. There's no other way, unfortunately. But hey, maybe you'll get lucky and one of those eggs turn out shiny or has high IVs.

I just got Pearl and I still have no legit shines but after my first legit can I cheat to get my favorite Pokemon and that is Flaeron. Back in the days of yellow version(I have that and blue then my brother has red the originals BTW) Flaeron was my best Pokemon with the move body slam I got him to 75 which is the highest lvl Pokemon I have on it. I just want to know if I can cheat to get a shiny one and admit I cheated.

TwilightBlade December 6th, 2010 3:09 PM

You can do whatever you want in your own game. You cannot currently ask for cheat codes here, so use Google. :)

Remember that you cannot trade hacked Pokemon nor battle with hacked Pokemon here.

Then you can just trade them away.

Flareon can learn Body Slam via move tutor in FR/LG. I don't think cheating is a good idea, though.

Griffinbane December 7th, 2010 4:40 PM

What? Catching and hatching shiny has the exact same odds, 1 out of like...5000 something, unless you chain or breed with foreign pokemon. Sure your eggs aren't too likely to hatch shiny but hey, you might be the lucky one. And I'm pretty sure hatching and releasing those eggs are still way faster than trading them all away to someone who actually wants them.

^ The first that comes to my mind is Buizel, a fast physical attacker. You can get it at Valley Windworks (next to Floaroma Town) or at the south part of route 205 (also next to Floaroma.)

Dr. Montague December 9th, 2010 12:19 PM

Shellos also works out if you're into Gastrodon, with only a grass weakness, good HP, and later access to Recover. However, it's low speed may be something you're not into, so as rndm said, Buizel and its evolution Floatzel also work out fine for fast and powerful attacks.

Or you could go with Bibarel if you decide to go with a Bidoof

OldPokeGuy December 10th, 2010 1:44 AM

If anyone is familiar wiht hacking pokemon saves...

Do pokemon have IVs already generated when they are eggs, or are they generated at hatching?

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ December 10th, 2010 12:10 PM

IV's are set once you take the egg. However, other factors like nature, ability, and gender are set before you take the egg, so if you save right before taking delivery of the egg, and it turns out that upon hatching the baby has the right nature, ability, and gender but bad IV's, you can soft reset, take the egg again, and try for better IV's while keeping the same nature, ability, and gender.

Buizel is a decent option
Gastrodon is pretty good as well...
To be honest, Sinnoh didn't really introduce many good NEW water types. However all of the old ones that exist in Sinnoh are pretty good. If you do have the patience to train Magikarp into Gyarados, then that is one of the best options, as long as you go physically offensive, and have Dragon Dance, Waterfall, and Ice Fang. The last move is up to you. I reccomend surf just cause you will definitely need it to get around.

How do you access the two routes near the Battle Fronter? :)

JNottle December 12th, 2010 4:28 AM

Hi,

Quick question.

I'm usually not a cheating kind of person, but I wanted to start my new Platnium game with a both the grass/fire starter, so I looked into the "catch opponents Pokemon" cheat as I can't find any others to use, and I only have one console.

I was just wondering after I catch his Pokemon, will he just have one less Pokemon in all of our battles, or will he get the starter replaced with the remaining starter? etc.etc.

Thanks whoever can help.

Search for the locations, or trainers that have them, or even trade for pokemon to get in your dex entries(pending you have wifi). It may be easier if you tell us the dex entries you a missing and we can help you find the trainers or area's with the said pokemon you are missing on your dex. Or if you don't know the pokemon post the dex numbers.

Is Floatzel a good choice as My water Pokemon? Mines currently at level 40 with Surf, Crunch, Aqua Jet, and Whirlpool. He needs better attacks obviously but would he be someone I could count on going against the Elite 4?

Missing Pokemon Dex Numbers that I didn't see:

138
146/147/148

As long as he is trained up enough and drops Whirlpool, he'll be certainly fine for the E4. Type advantage over one of them is already a good start, and Crunch may prove useful too.

Hard to tell what Pokemon they refer to seeing that the order differs from the national dex mode (especially without knowing if you are referring to D/P or Platinum which differs slightly to the other two iirc...). Just go looking for trainers that you may have missed, as all of the Pokemon are held by a trainer somewhere in Sinnoh. Try exploring some caves/routes you haven't gone to yet as well as there can be trainers in them.

If you are talking about D/P though: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=4199775&postcount=21 And maybe the odd number in plat is the same?

Teach it an Ice-type attack like maybe Ice Fang or Ice Beam.

I have a Floatzel too. Level 58 with Surf, Waterfall, Ice Beam and Crunch. Good luck with yours!

Kenshin5 December 13th, 2010 9:18 PM

93 - Evolve from Bonsley or if you have Pearl Sudowoodo is on Route 214 and 221.
138 - Mt. Coronet (Super Rod) in Plat Foggy Room(Old,Good, and Super Rod)
146/147/148 - The Pixies are all located in their respective caves, Mesprit roams, but reveals itself to you so you get the dex entry anyways.
152 - I think you mean 151 since you don't need Darkrai to complete the Sinnoh Dex. I believe you can see a image of Manaphy at the Mansion off Route 212.

I would tell you where the trainers were for the non legendaries but, I couldn't tell you were atm.

Just as a side note, you do not need to engage battle with Mesprit for the Pokedex to count it as "sighted".
A picture of Mesprit pops up when you speak to it, and you'll then have the sighted entry.

Is there any possible way to find out your Secret ID without the use of Action Replay or some hacking device?

If you have caught a wild random shiny or have chained several shinies, then you can deduce your SID... Alternatively, I can help via this thread.

I have been breeding Torterra and Roselia together and have gone through 8 different eggs and all of them have been Roselia's. Now the Torterra is Male and the Roselia is male and I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong.

There is your problem right there, for reproduction to occur you need a Male and a Female. Jokes aside I assume the Roselia is a female, which is why all of them turn out Roselia. The offspring is always going to be the mothers side, attacks get inherited from the father, which would be Torterra in this case. So if you want Turtwigs you are going to either need a Female in the Torterra family or a Ditto to breed with Torterra.

Thank you I was thinking that that is what happens I just couldn't get any proof Ty.

Stockpile and belly drum snorlax breeding help

hey guys i'm new to this forum and hope to get some advice from some more experienced players. i have just recently started playing seriously, but have been a life long fan of pokemon.

i am currently trying to set up a snorlax with the curent moveset:
body slam
stockpile
belly drum
rest

i am having some trouble breeding a snorlax or munchlax with both belly drum and stock pile. any advice is greatly appreciated!
thank you for your time--
Sean

Christopher December 16th, 2010 10:02 PM

Okay train your munchlax to level 25 (i think)thats when it learns stockpile, then evolve it go to the move relearner and you will be able to teach it Belly drum (Snorlax level 17)

seanday92 December 16th, 2010 10:10 PM

i was thinking of that earlier, but because the munchlax never knew belly drum, it cant be relearned? please correct me if im wrong

Christopher December 16th, 2010 10:15 PM

true but after you evolve it into snorlax you can relearn it

seanday92 December 16th, 2010 10:18 PM

okay thanks buddy i appreciate your help!

It's probably the seed you hit. Their natures are not pre-set.

For one thing, Synchronize has no effect on the Nature of a pokemon

No effect on an already released roamer, you mean. Sync has a 50% chance (I think) to make wild pokemon (non-roamers) have the same nature as your Sync. Natures are set once you release the roamers, that's why all your birds turned out Adamant.

There's a way to reset the birds...but I don't know anything about it. >_>

The way to do that is to save before you talk to Oak. After you do that, the birds are released, with set natures and IVs. If you save after talking to Oak, then the birds' natures and IVs will stay like that.

While playing Platinum Version, I've noticed that if you are traveling with a Stat Trainer and start a battle by talking to a trainer rather than passing in front of their vision (thereby avoiding battle with the other trainer who would also see you at the same time), the game initiates a single battle between you and the trainer as if the stat trainer was not even with you. This occurs even when the trainer you are fighting has two Pokemon. Has anyone else noticed this and does anyone know why it happens?

Accidently got Missingno....

My cousin, who plays Pokemon Diamond, has recently bought an Action Replay Media Edition, and whilst trying to clone a legend of his to trade to me, he accidently got Missingno. I don't know why, but he saved and now it's stuck in his party. The game freezes if you try and select it, or even hover your (cursor?) over it. is there anyway for him to dispose of it, or get it into a PC Box?

His Action replay is now broken, so that isn't an option.
He has a great save file with tons of good, sotrong pokemon he woudl be very disappointed to lose.

I know PC doesn't approve of hacking, but he was only trying to clone a pokemon to trade, which I think is OK with the trading section.

Any solution we'll try...

rstevenson1976 December 21st, 2010 7:24 PM

sounds like his game is hosed, that's the risk you take when using the action replay

bobandbill December 21st, 2010 8:35 PM

Indeed - AR can break your game if you are not careful and whatnot. (But however did it break? =/).

I wonder if it is possible to trade it off to someone else... probably not but who knows, maybe it could be dumped to a new game file? I don't think you can put Pokemon straight from your party onto Pokemon Ranch either (much less Missingno) but again if you have Ranch maybe it is worth a try (although if it breaks your game that badly...).

TwilightBlade December 21st, 2010 8:57 PM

Have you tried depositing 'Missingno' into the Daycare or GTS (or via friend codes...)? If that doesn't work, you'll have to obtain a new AR in attempt to override your first party Pokemon with another Pokemon.

It could be one of these:
1. Riolu's happiness level isn't high enough yet. (did you walk around a lot, keep it alive in battle, etc.?)
2. You're trying to evolve it at the wrong time. Riolu only evolves by happiness during the day.

KingBosco December 23rd, 2010 10:13 PM

my question is this:
do the black and white flute affect pokeradar chaining?
and what about sweet scent?
