The Riolu Egg is obtained in the game after you go through Iron Island with Riley and at least one spare slot for a pokemon.

If you don't have a free space, go make a space and then go through the place again until you find Riley.

Riolu can also be found with a trainer you battle in Oreburgh Gate after obtaining Surf. This is only if you want to see Riolu though, but going this way also leads to Focus Punch and Brick Break.

Has all of the ingame coding for Platinum been established? I was wondering if there could be events we dont know about within the coding.

Ozzy March 12th, 2009 1:16 PM

Like most people, I use Amulet Coin on my Monferno and my Shaymin. I think theres 2 trainers on route 202 (Maybe another route) With a roselia and a Chatot, if you keep rebattling them using the Vs. Seeker, you can get 200k+ in less then 4 battles. Which is definetely enough for a lot of max repels and ultra balls, for your own Chaining greed.

to get a happiny, Simply breed a Chansey, Or theres a hiker in the bottom right corner of hearthome city. Beware, to hatch it, it takes ALOT of steps. 16k I believe.

(Sorry if i mispell words alot, My keys on my laptop are suckish :P)

IV = Individual Value = Random numbers(up to 32) added to every stat when you catch a Pokémon
EV = Effort Value = Read here
Shiny = ... = A Pokémon in "wrong" color, that has a chance of 1 on ~8200 of appearing in the wild
PKRS = Pokérus = A sort of virus that also has a chance of 1/~8000 of appearing and doubles EVs
Crit = Critical Hit = An attack that does double the normal damage, has 8% chance on normal attacks, and 15% on attacks such as Slash, Blaze Kick and Sky Attack. You'll get the message "A Critical Hit!" if you manage to land one
KO = Status: FNT = The Pokémon has 0 HP left
ANNOYING ******* MOUSE!!!!!! = Pikachu = An annoying little electric mouse -.-
AR = Action Replay = A Cheating Device
GS = Game Shark = Another Cheating Device
Dual-Type = Pokémon with two types = Pokémons like, for example, Blaziken is BOTH Fire AND Fighting
Single-Type = Pokémon with only one type = Pokémons like, for example, Alakazam is ONLY Psychic

400/Double/4x Weakness = 400% weakness = Attack damage multiply gotten by attacking a Dual-typed Pokémon with something both its types are weak to(like Heracross(Bug/Fighting) -> Flying)
200/2x Weakness = 200% weakness = Attack damage multiply gotten by attacking a Dual-typed Pokémon with something one of it's types are weak to and the other is not resistant against, or a Single-Typed Pokémon with something it's weak to

== GAMES ==
R/B/Y = Red/Blue/Yellow, first generation games
G/S/C = Gold/Silver/Crystal, second generation games
R/S/E = Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, first of the third generation games
FR/LG = FireRed/LeafGreen, 1st generation remakes, second of the third generation games
D/P/Pt = Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, fourth, and most recent generation games

Hope that helped!

Meh... no one noticed it? IVs go from 0 to 31, not 32.
You have less of a chance to get Pokerus than you do to get a shiny. It's more than 1/8192, which is the chance you have to encounter a shiny poke.

And finally, the crit percentage is 6.25%, raising to 12.5% with higher crit percentage moves.

What are you referring to?

"Events", as in event Pokemon, are given away at events and distributed via Wonder Card. They aren't pre-programmed into the game.

The key items for Arceus, Darkrai, and Shaymin are still there, and Japan has already gotten Darkrais and is set to get Shaymin's soon.

Haza March 12th, 2009 1:54 PM

I mean like the downloadable items lie the Gracidea flower. I was curious of like a new hold item for Arceus, like the LifeJewel from the new movie.

doubleeh March 12th, 2009 4:46 PM

what do ppl think about AR on this site?

Tinhead Bruce March 12th, 2009 5:05 PM

One word to describe what AR is on this site: Taboo.

bearsfan092 March 12th, 2009 6:10 PM

Not entirely true on AR Usage. There are several codes that a lot of breeders use (Fast Egg, Fast Hatch, IV Check), as well as a lot of item hacking going on that's been accepted to a degree. I've seen a lot of people offering TM's, Berries, and the like from an AR.

doubleeh March 13th, 2009 7:56 AM

if some1 helps me with move sets for my pokemon i could borrow my friends AR and trade TM's or w/e u want for the time u spent helping me

D&P Advice Needed.

Hey Everyone.

Due to a faulty card my Pokemon Game has gone Bye Byes.
But I have found a store in town that my Boyfriend is going to take me to tonight.
They sell D&P for £8.00 but I can't decide which to go for.
Any advice?

Also would anyone be willing to give me a hand with the game? Kinda lost all my Pokemon so any would be GREAT!!!!!!
I do have the AR thingy to Clone Pokemon but refuse to use it to create them.

Thanks!

It's all about which exclusives you want. Bulbapedia and Serebii list what is exclusive to each game. It also helps if you have GBA games to utilize the dongle method.

The storyline is EXACTLY the same.

Personally, I'd just wait and grab Platinum. More wild Pokemon, fresh story, etc...

If you use it in even one in-game battle before it has competed its EV training, then it will already have excess EVs, meaning that you will either need to remove those EVs or find another Dragonair to train.

In other words, the sooner that you begin training, the better that the result will be.

jigglyppuff8 March 13th, 2009 12:14 PM

You should've done it while it was a Dratini. EVs are gained any time you battle, so that means you "EV trained" without realizing it. However, if you want to keep that particular Dragonite, you should use the EV reduction berries, the ones that say "lower base stat" or something to that effect, until it says that the stats won't drop anymore.

Question about gen4 games

Well i haven't played these games before and im getting tired of playing gen 3 games cause ive played them so many times, and im wondering if its really worth the money to just go out and buy a nintendo ds and pearl/diamond/platinum. Oh and since i don't know ANYTHING about the gen4 games can someone explain to me the differences between the 3 games and the differences between the gen 3 games and them?

Red-The-First-I March 13th, 2009 2:16 PM

EV Training in D, P, Pt

Hey,
Can anyone explain me how to EV train Pokémon.
Does this help for Contests too?
I never got that.

Thanks a lot

Forci Stikane March 13th, 2009 2:19 PM

EV training is irrelevant as far as contests are concerned. It only matters as far as battling other players. This sticky should have all of the information that you need regarding EV training.

jigglyppuff8 March 13th, 2009 2:28 PM

I'll list the differences in no particular order:

107 new Pokemon
All new region
Touch Screen Control
A new touch screen controlled Poketch that gains added functionality as you progress through the game.
Characteristics in addition to natures (Such as "Loves to Eat" or "Mischievous")
Split Attack and Sp. Atk. Attacks like Hyper Beam whose power was determined by the Pokemon's attack stat will now be determined by its sp. atk instead (since it's a beam and all?). Same goes for moves like Spark (used to be sp. atk, now attack).
New evil organization (Team Galactic)
Poffins replace Pokeblocks for boosting a Pokemon's contest condition.
New Super Contests which replace the old contests with touch controlled dress-up, dancing, and a 4-round appeal.
The Underground which allows you to dig up fossils, shards, and items called spheres which you can trade for decorations. This is also where your secret base is. You can connect to other people with this mode and do activities like capture the flag and trading decorations.
Wi-fi Connectivity which allows you to trade and battle online. Voice chat can be enabled as well.
A Global Trading Station or GTS which allows you to offer a Pokemon for a trade and ask for a certain Pokemon if you've seen it already.
Pokemon are animated when they come out of their Pokeballs like in Emerald.
The bag can now hold all items and the "Player" PC option now only deals with Mail and Ball Capsules.
Ball Capsules which allow you to decorate your Pokeballs and customize the way your Pokemon are sent out.
Pre-written messages for use in the Union Room, Mail, or Catchphrases.
A new Coin Case that allows you to carry 20000 coins. Note that the prizes will be much more expensive as well.
VS. Seeker returns from FR/LG.
Partners that team up with you allowing you to participate in Wild Double Battles.
A Pal Park that allows you to migrate Pokemon PERMANENTLY from your Gen III games after obtaining the National Dex.
A snowy area affected by hail.
Buildings and objects rendered in 3-D on the Overworld.
New Berries that allow you to reduce damage when held.
Day/Night has returned from Gen II.
Gender differences between some Pokemon. (Such as a female Pikachu having a heart-ish shaped tail.)
New moves, abilities, and items.
...And other features I'm likely forgetting.

Alternative March 13th, 2009 3:25 PM

When it comes to competitive battling, what items are defined as "Hax" items?

PlatinumDawnFtw March 13th, 2009 3:33 PM

Hax items are items that only work sometimes like the Quick Claw. That can also relate to items like Brightpowder, which lowers accuracy.

lolwut March 13th, 2009 4:40 PM

Sweeeet.. Looks like it's worth buying a DS and a game. Should i wait until platinum comes out or should i just get diamond/pearl?

jigglyppuff8 March 13th, 2009 4:46 PM

Unless 9 days is unbearable for you, I suggest waiting for Platinum. It vastly improves over some of D/P's unpolished features.
