This is my first actual project. I’ve messed with the program for a while, but never actually done anything with it. Now, I’ve decided to make a game, but it isn’t actually a game. What I’m building is more of a database of cards for Yu-Gi-Oh! Fans. But, unlike any other database out there, this one will actually organize cards BY THEIR EFFECTS! Now, some of you may say sites like Netrep allow you to do such selective searches that it’s essentially the same thing. But what if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for? Well, this solves that kind of problem with general categories like “ATK Modification Spells” or “Negation Traps”!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/BarStory.png
You are a young scholar studying the game of Yu-Gi-Oh!. You have just stumbled upon the Yu-Gi-Oh! Library, and have gone to the Head Librarian. He allows you to study at the library, and wishes you well. When you begin to explore it, you find that it is much larger than initially expected, extending far underground. Not only that, but, unlike any other place you have ever found before, this library organizes its card information by effect, instead of other attributes like name or ATK. Unfortunately, a recent flood has damaged most of the collection, and the only available reference materials are on the first booster pack, Legend of Blue Eyes. Still, you plan to stay and learn. Soon, you find that you can visit the founders of the library, who live to the north. Glitchfinder, the initial founder, it the only one who will see you at the time, but the others will reveal themselves as time progresses.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet but looking at the information above the "game" looks quite good. The first and last screenshots are a bit...plain, try to fill them up more. Other then that your doing great

Good luck!

Well, I may be good at mapping, but I tried to give the library a sparse appearance. I guess a common mistake it making "sparse" look "plain". Still, Thanks for the compliments! I'm working on addin MRD, but I'm also adding the remnants of my old weather system project to this game, for apparently no reason whatsoever. After I finish with the weather system, I'll add the rest of MRD. (Also, something you'll see in the newer versions that wasn't in the original is that when you're underground in the library, it's much darker, and the "light" has become a flickering candlelight. It took about 10 minutes to make, and on darker moniters, it can be more detrimental than cool)

Wow, this looks very unique! I've never seen a Yu-Gi-Oh! 'fangame' before. Good job.

Well, it isn't even CLOSE to being complete. I need to add in Metal Raiders, as well as finish my wether system I added in. Then, I'll take a break from adding booster packs and work on the battle edition. (Which will be seperate download from the normal game, and you add and overwrite sprites and map files to play it) Finally, I'll have to eventually seperate the main edition from the card pictures to make the download a more reasonable size. (You'll have to download the pictures and replace the maps once I do that. Eventually, I may be forced to seperate the download by spell, trap, and monster cards)

Megaupload doesn't like me... looking good tho, I always wanted to make a Magic: The Gathering game in Rm2k3, but it's impossible.

Aww... Very nice, I stopped playing but still... Always wanted to do some big database thing. Rock on!

Interesting idea. I wanted to get around to making a Yu-Gi-Oh Card Library, but I never got around to it. This one looks promising, and I look forward to it. Good luck!

Once again, thanks for all the comments! I won't be able to work on this project for a couple of weeks (finals and end-of-year projects) Still, I'll be back on this project in about 3 weeks, and I'll be working on it as quickly as I can then. (I really want to try out a functional lite version of my weather system) Also, expect new updates during that time period on what I'm actually doing with the new functions. (Oh, and I'm pretty much done with updating the maps, I just have to work on the maps I'll add for the new cards). Have a nice day!

It's cool seeing that people are making other fangames other than pokemon. I've got a few questions regarding the program (since it's house rules I can't d/l anything).

Have you edited the Battle System so that it's an actual duel yet? Or is that feature still in its planning stages?

Actually, I won't be editing the battle system. I'm not nearly a good enough scripter for that. Instead, I will be using the DBS to provide a completely new type of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel, where you will actually be battling Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters as a character, with "Spells" and "Traps"that are actually items. (Including ones that can be used and actually activate later, like Mirror force will be, although bosses will be invulenerable to it) Also, I may need help in gathering scans of card pictures that I will be able to use int this. (Unless the monster would actually be really big, it would have to be almost completely in the picture, which really limits the selection) This is still in the planning stages, mind you, but I think it might turn out to be a really cool feature. Right now it's just a card database. Thanks for the great question.

OK guys, school's out! That means I now have time to spend on this project! And, in the spirit of things, here's some updated screenshots of the project! (I've been updating the old maps too, as the first few show)

First, here's two old screenshots of maps that were a little bland, as well as their new counterparts!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/Screenshot6.png
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/Screenshot_New_1.png

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/Screenshot1.png
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/Screenshot_New_2.png

Now, keep in mind that this WAS originally intended to be a database, not a pretty game. I mean, think about how boring MOST databases are compared to this...

Now, for some screenshots of the weather system I'm adding in. (Mostly based off of that unfinished DTSW starter kit I was making until I realized I was being ignored, although the D (for date), T (for time), and S (for season) are all left out in this)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/Screenshot_New_5.png
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/Screenshot_New_6.png

Now, for this next screenshot, I think I need I to explain something. I'm actually a little proud of this. This screenshot is of the underground part of the library, if you don't have the person in the aboveground story of the Spell Card wing turn on the "lights", which are just magical spheres of light. In this case, when they're not on, the underground portions are actually lit by candlelight. Not only that, but it flickers! See, the flickering is what I'm proud of. I got the time to a point where, if you can figure out why the screen is flickering, it's actally a rather good candlelight effect. Oh, and did I mention I added in a fog that darkens the area away from the candles?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/Screenshot_New_4.png

Now this is simply a screenie of what I named the "Gardens Annex". In other words, it's an intersection of different areas of the library, and it's a garden.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/Screenshot_New_7.png

Finally, we have a little bit of ego. I put myself in the game as one of the library's "founders". Not only that, but I live in this luxurious mansion! Now, the gardens annext is the next map to the right, the fountain is animated, and you can find me in the study in the mansion. I also am the one who gives you the updated Warp Book, and I take away the Warp Scroll that the head librarian gives you. Now, the Warp Scroll will warp you to the entrance to the three main buildings of the Library, as well as the main office. The Warp Book, on the other hand, will warp you to every specific card room, as well as the main office and the entrance of the founders' homes. (Though they don't all live in mansions like me. Still, they got to choose...)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/glitchfinder/YuGiOh%20Library/Screenshot_New_8.png

Now, I won't update the demo until I finish Metal Raiders, and it probably won't yet have the weather system in it. But, it will have me, one of the other founders (Setosama from www.pojo.com), and updated maps, as well as the Warp Book.

Edit: Sorry about this, I didn't realize that I was double posting until I checked above this post. Is double posting allowed for updates?

Are you going to make NEW cards that there is no such thing or they haven't made? Like Exodia the Foribidden One on one card? Or what?

Well, first off, since this thread has been dead for over a month, it's technically not allowed to be revived.

Second, I'm actually not turning the game into a standard Yu-Gi-Oh! game (as in, where you're playing the card game, only against a comp. etc.), but I am actually going to use RMXP's DBS (with some modifications like variable maxHP and exp) to make it where you battle "real" Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters, using items and equipment related to the game/anime. (For example you start out in the battle area with a Slifer Red Uniform as your armor, and a Sword of Deep Seated as your weapon, and some healing potions will be called Goblin's Secret Remeby, etc.)
