What needs to be done for the next handheld generation

You (Actually I) need the ability to transfer your characters identity to the next games.

Like your Name, ID, and secret ID.
That way when you can import you Pokemon back from the older games, you can rename them and stuff.

Sort of how (I think) Ash left his Kanto Pokemon in Kanto but they're still his.
(I could be wrong, he might have released them, if so then disregard that)

RLan69 May 13th, 2007 6:34 PM

I wouldn't want that, since it would just make the replay value of future games much less to a degree. The way they have it is find. They MUST get rid of sweet honey tress, however, since, although a good concept, SOME PKMN are impossible to find*cough*Munchlax*cough*

Ichida May 13th, 2007 7:30 PM

Yes, Honey Trees and PokeRadar must be sacked. I Pal Parked and GTS'd all the Pokemon you could only find by those methods.

Samson May 13th, 2007 9:01 PM

how about more than one character?

gym replayability?

character advancement (like becoming a gym leader)?

more than one breeding center?

character customization?

also, since you guys mentioned things that should be sacked, the new contest tactics are just dumb. they need to return it back to it's simple, yet challenging two-step process.

Law07 May 14th, 2007 7:55 AM

What? I like the dancing thing :D

Also yes I wish you could change the character's appearance.

Storm-DC May 14th, 2007 7:59 AM

Pff.. I finally hope that somehow we can keep playing a while on this cardridge.. Or atleast; with this account.
Contests are stupid anyway.

EDIT) But if I must think about something; when using fly the user should just go up quite allot (like with those elevators in that gym) and be able to fly over the whole map.. that'd be cool!

Either that or make Pokeradar exclusive ones more common than the regular ones when using the radar. Because honestly I found it kind of nifty.

Typhoon May 14th, 2007 11:18 AM

They definitely need to restore the encounter rates to their original RBY settings. Too many encounters makes me annoyed. I'd rather put in extra effort to find pokemon than to avoid them.

Rivvon May 14th, 2007 11:28 AM

I've always wanted to be able to choose between multiple girls and multiple boys, and then be able to further customize them still (clothes, hats etc.) so then in places like the Union Room (which should be WiFi enabled, not just DS Wireless) other people can see your actual character and not just a common trainer. Also, remove Friend Codes! WiFi isn't WiFi if you know the people - not that you shouldn't, but it's really hard to "battle with trainers all over the world!" if you have to have met them prior and exchange FCs.

And whatever happened to multple regions? Sure, in GSC the Kanto felt sort of..."rushed" to me (the game developers didn't seem to have taken much time on it) but if they put a little bit more effort into it it would add a great amount of replay value.

Also, I've always wanted to be able to eat. In-game. Yes, it sounds stupid, but there are always tons of restaurants and stuff and all the people are claiming to be "eating" but your character never gets any! That's probably why you're so short and skinny in DP...

And in addition to Shinies, I've always wanted to see Albino Pokemon. I don't know why but I think albino things are cute and when I picture some Pokemon as albino I feel all happy and squeally inside.

Well Kanto and Johto could pretty much be called a single region. I mean they're right next to each other.
Sort of like North and South Dakota.

Sinnoh is like way up North, and Hoenn's way down south.
That is, assuming they all fit together just like Japan does.

So anyway what I mean is unless you think they should made two NEW regions, I think you should cut them some slack. Plus Sinnoh is huge.

Or I could be wrong.

Storm-DC May 14th, 2007 12:12 PM

And you're stilling playing a kid, really young one.. Isn't it logical your target audience is the - now older - players that played blue as a kid?

CowFreak5 May 14th, 2007 4:54 PM

Customizing your character would be great, and eating would be cool, also. I've noticed that in some "restaurants" there aren't kitchens...

They should get rid of the Honey Trees... they're just stupid. And either make Pokemon Contests a larger part of the game's storyline or get rid of them altogether. Right now, they're kind of pointless.

People should stop having funny-looking hair, and there should be a wider variety of trainers to fight.

Pal Park is just stupid. We should just be able to trade our older Pokemon in...

I would really like more realistic cities/towns. They could be a bit larger, because some "cities" don't really have that many people in them.

I see why they did Pal Park. RSE aren't prepared to handle DP pokemon, plus there are new attacks in DP even for old pokemon. That's why trading is one-way.

I don't think Pokemon Contests are pointless. It's optional. If you don't want to do it, you don't have to do it. Seriously, I wonder why people complain about optional mini-games or side-quests. It adds to the game. It doesn't make the game any worse for wear unless you're peeved by its presence, which would be pretty irrational.

Eating would be awesome, especially if you could eat some of that Honey off the tree. ROFL. But Honey trees are annoying, I agree.

Customizing your character would be cool too, but don't get rid of funky hair! Lol. Just give more options.

CowFreak5 May 14th, 2007 5:09 PM

Seriously? Like the purple Gym Leader's hair? (Can't remember her name.) It's so ridiculous.

And the Elite Four/Gym Leaders dress weirder and weirder with each new game. They should look cool, like Cynthia.

No, not make two new regions for one game. Have the new region for that game (say, Shinnoh) and then afterwards an OLDER region, like being able to go back and forth between Shinnoh and Hoenn.

Caleb290 May 14th, 2007 7:18 PM

I would love to be able to dress your character up that would be great and I like the contests just not the dance part it is to annoying.

I hate the honey trees and that you have to wait like a day to get a pokemon that could be a wurmple :( I liked the headbutt way better.

Yes the cities should be way bigger, jublife city and sunnyshore city were the biggest ones its kinda sad really.

and with the battle tower make it wifi completly because I saw they put me on wifi and then took me off it should be a real wifi battle I dont want to battle computers when I came for wifi.

The underground is a pretty good idea I hope it is in the next game. The way they have secret bases is ok but I still liked it better like in R/S/E. Plus make the underground wifi

The poke rader is ok but its has like the same use as sweet scent but it just has like a 5% chance of getting a old pokemon :( I spent 3 hours trying to find kecleon

Also in the new region I want to be able to go to multiple regions like in G/S/C but maybe with another region even I know that is alot of memory but they could atleast let us rebattle the gyms as much as we want and they could get strong enough to go to level 100, I want some more difficulty seriously I beat diamond in 3 days

AnarchaArcana May 14th, 2007 9:57 PM

Here are my ideas;

Interface improvement: make a button at the top left of the touch screen that 'switches' the top and bottom screens, so that both screens can have 'touch-driven' buttons. Make the top screen come down and put the Poke-watch up top when you go into the menu or pokedex, so you can more easily touch your way through menus.

This is funny, I was just talking about eating in pokemon games today... What came to mind was this,... Just what DO people in the pokemon world eat? I mean think about it, just about every animal is a Pokemon, respected, Loved, and all that, and most plantlife seems to be pokemon too.... I can't imagine a family getting together for roasted Pikachu in the fuzzy happy pokemon world, can you?

I can just imagine something like this (You would know what I mean if anyone has played rogue-like games such as Nethack or ADOM)

> You finish eating the pikachu corpse
> You health currently feels amplified!

Ok, on to serious stuff!

They really need to have more pokemon pre-E4 or at least more variety. The honey trees are just too annoying really. Against they can improve them whole thing, honey trees should be dropped.

A few other things I can mention but they are really too minor to gripe about.

Shiny_Latios May 15th, 2007 8:09 AM

you ca choose what you want to do like if you are offered to join the evil team you can or you can be in the elite 4 ora gym leader a much more user choice so we can have different stories and even have exclusives to the soryline you take up making the GTS more usable in some ways so if you chooseto be a gym leader those rarer pokemon are easier to find than if you joined the evil team which zubats etc are easier i mean there have been many times like when i first played red and completed nugget bridge and thought i could really join team rocket but then found out you couldn't :(

Caleb290 May 15th, 2007 9:01 AM

I would like it to be a gym leader or a member of the E4 I could see how that would work you could get calls from trainers that are waiting at your gym and then you get to battle them :D and when your score gets higher you will move up a gym and you like start as the first gym leader once you beat the E4.

I would like more things to do underground because all their is to do when you are alone is dig for spheres :( I want to battle people.

I would love to eat scrambled Manaphy egg for breakfast :D
but it is kinda wierd that they have mentioned eating pokemon before you may remember in the episode where ash caught krabby he wondered where he went and then ash was worried Pro. Oak was going to have "Krabby Soup" but Pro. Oak said that the krabby was to small for krabby soup and if he wanted to eat it he would have garys much bigger krabby for dinner.I thought they like pokemon dont like them as a meal

ROFL
sorry to get off subject

Chikara May 15th, 2007 9:21 AM

Honey trees need to be burned down, and an MMORPG that can be played over wifi ON your DS would be awesome

Yeah, I remember that! That was so funny! It would be funny if you could catch krabbys and other fish for some person who wants soup.

If the next generation has something like GTS (and why wouldn't it?), you should be able to filter trades by pokemon that you don't want to offer. For example, if someone is offering a pokemon you want, but they want a palkia, they should not show up on your list if you check "palkia" as one of your non-tradeables. That would save me a lot of crap.

Toadboy May 16th, 2007 6:14 AM

I would like the GTS to allow more than just i want this pokemon for this pokemon, it should be more of I have this pokemon, i would like any of these, or any pokemon, or i want anything BUT these. I also don't think you should have to have a pokemon in your Pokedex before you can ask for it. It should be restricted to the pokedex you have (shinnoh or national) but if i need a moltres, i should be able to ask for one... if i already have it in my pokedex, then chances are i already have one, why would i need to ask for it over the GTS?

Because the point of the game is to catch them all. It's gotta be a challenge. D:

Some people, whether intentionally or not, kill their legendaries.

Toadboy May 17th, 2007 7:25 AM

anyone who intentionally or not kills their legendaries need to have the common sense enough to move the power switch to the off position, then back on.

I killed Azelf because I was fed up with it and I realised that I only needed to see it to get the National Dex.

Back on subject.

Voice Commands. Like, when a Pokemon learns a new move, the game will have you record your voice command for that move, so all you need to do is say that command and your pokemon will perform that move. It adds to the experience.

Am I the only one who actually likes the honey trees?

JMS May 17th, 2007 2:07 PM

Make fire types more available in the next game. I mean, unless you pick Chimchar, the only other fire type you can really catch in the earlier stages of D/P is Pontya.

I think the starters should also be catchable in the wild, like it is in the anime, but rare. Like say I have a Turtwig/Grotle, I should be able to find Chimchar/Monferno and Piplup/Prinplup in some places rarely during a certain time of day, and they should be also tough to catch, but not Legendary tough.

I also agree with eventually being able to become a Gym Leader. Because then you'd have to start training Pokemon of a specific type, which would make things fun. Like..say I took over the 8th gym leader in so and so city, who specialized in fire types. I'd at least train up 5-6 pokemon, and they would have to be something like:

the first stage of whatever new fire type there'd be(Lv 41)
Infernape(Lv 44)
Magmortar(Lv 43)
Flareon(Lv 44)
Gabite(just to kill the monotony) (Lv 42)
the final stage of that new fire type(Lv 48)

Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this. XD

ihaveaquestion May 17th, 2007 4:31 PM

for the next games... i think that you should be able to customize your trainer... like wat he wairs... and it'd b tyt if he could cary around a sword and shield or wat not...

i also think that they should have regular starter pokemon, such as a growlithe or sandshrew or weedle... that'd b more regular... like every other trainer

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ May 19th, 2007 2:04 PM

I would like to see the following
*Voice commands (like what other people said) to tell your Pokemon what to do

*customise trainer

thats all I can think of now

:t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~

Ichida May 19th, 2007 2:49 PM

Customizable trainers, waaaaay more than just another hundred Pokemon, and NO new evolutions of old Pokemon. Try coming up with something original this time. >.< Speaking of something new, some new elemental combinations would be good. And you just know there's going to be another two Eeveelutions. I hope they end up covering all 17 types. Eight down, ten to go~

Unfortunately I don't think that's really gonna happen. GF is going to keep adding more Pokémon and regions to appeal to both audiences, I believe. It still is possible for them to just keep a certain number forever, though.
