Do you judge Pokemon on the way they look or their stats?
I was on WiFi yesterday trading with someone and I traded them a shiny Mew and they said " AHHH how pretty! ", but it was a low level and did not have very good stats.
Do you judge or catch pokemon on how they look or how their stats are? |
Depends, usually a combination of the two. I'm actually not too partial to shiny pokemon, but will catch them anyway.
im thinking about taking a Scizor.. and when i'd get a shiny one i might be in doubt if i'll train that one or a bred one with the right nature.. shiny scizor has the colours of scyther and looks awesome..
A bit of both for me, really. My first instinct is to pick the Pokémon that look cool or badass. But then I'll go onto Serebii and check their stats and movesets. If they're good, I'll keep them in my team. If they're decent, I'll think about it and use them if I find nothing better, but if they have poor stats or movesets, then I won't touch them.
And, btw, just because your Mew was low leveled and poor stats, doesn't make it a crap Pokémon. Once that person gets through training Mew and giving it whatever moveset he/she wants, you'll think twice about what you said. |
Yeah, I do. I dont want to be raped by a Arceus, I'd prefer to be by a little crappie thing like Caterpie or Magikarp.
Both. I won't use a Pokemon unless it has good stats AND looks awesome. Unfortunately this narrows the list down to about twenty non-legendaries for me :P
i catch any pokemon i like then i take a look at the stats if it weak i keep it in the PC if its not then my party
Neither. For me, typing comes first. If the Pokemon has a major weakness to some common type (like Scizor has against Fire), then I'm probably not going to use it, regardless of its stats. Of course, that doesn't mean that I'll automatically use a Pokemon with few weaknesses (*coughsableyecough*) or rule out a Pokemon with a 4x weakness...stats still matter. They just don't necessarily come first.

I like to use really ugly pokémon.
Pelipper and Dunsparce are just love <3 |

i'm all about stats. i think its unfair and discriminating to rule out Pokémon that are "ugly", and to do such doesn't make you a very good trainer. sure, there are pretty Pokémon that are good (such as Delcatty), but there's more "ugly" Pokémon that are very good (such as Torterra). i'll use it, even if it does have a weakness (4x or not). chances are the Pokémon i'm using will beat the "Super Effective, Pretty Pokémon" with one blow!
Torterra's ugly? Thought it was kinda cool...lol.
Anyway, I suppose it really depends on what purpose said pokémon is for. I mean, as a trainer, you should really want to catch anything and everything. Good or bad, cool-looking or ugly, useful or just a space-waster, I dunno...If we're talking about actually using it, I guess I go for a balance between what I think is cool (look-wise and skill-wise) and what will actually fill a certain role best. I mean, I don't see much point in using a pokémon you as a person don't feel attached to. No fun there. x_x |
good to know i'm not the only one that thinks Torterra isn't really ugly. lol i think its very strong and cool looking.
Torterra is a beast! I was stunned that a single Torterra almost took down my entire team (consisting of 5 Pokes at the time), but my Bronzong took it out with help from Hypnosis. It's times like this that you realize your entire team is weak against a single point.
I mean, I love my Empoleon, wouldn't have it any other way. But Torterra gives him a run for his money, especially when he's packing Earthquake. As for which I choose... I go by looks at first, and then stats. I'll catch Pokemon I like the looks of, and a few I don't, and I'll check their stats... if they're high, good typing and a good nature, I will keep them. Even when in-game, I refuse to use a Poke that has a nature which will depreciate a critical point. |
Torterra does look cool. Who can argue with a tortoise with a tree growing on its back? But, its lagging speed and 4x weakness to Ice - a very commonly used element - just negates its offensive usefulness, IMO.

Looks. I hardly ever battle online and me and my friends just play the game for fun.
I Got The Purdy Mew!!!!!!!!!!!
I judge a pokemon on how cool that look
Appearance doesn't determine how well a Pokemon battles. Saying that, nothing wrong with pretty looking things at times.
determine a pokemon well battles ok
I determine by there stats, unless if it is a rare Pokemon that everyone wants like a shiny then I'll raise it to the highest like my other Pokemon
:t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~ |
I prefer to choose Pokemon that I like, seeing as I am restricted to ingame play. If I had a competitive team I suppose I would start choosing by stats.
I'm quite shallow, so obviously, if a pokemon is ugly and repulsive to me, I won't use it XD
Honestly, I go mostly for looks. If a pokemon I like is high enough level, and can get me through the game, I'll use it.
