What the differance...?

Between a cloned mew and a legit one? oO I'm just confused.

wakachamo May 24th, 2007 12:26 PM

A legit Mew is a Mew obtained/traded through an official event. An illegit Mew was obtained through either hacking, entering codes etc.

Cyan Goggles May 24th, 2007 12:27 PM

Right, I caught that, but are they're stats differenet? Are they still able to be nicknamed? Can they still learn all the normaly moves?

wakachamo May 24th, 2007 12:28 PM

Stat and game-wise, there is no difference.

Cyan Goggles May 24th, 2007 12:32 PM

So if someone tells me they'll trade a illigit mew for something, I have no reason to worry?

CyberCyndaquil May 24th, 2007 12:32 PM

There's no difference in a cloned mew and a legit mew,if the mew cloned is legit, the clone is legit as well...lol...

The difference between legit and non-legit is what wakachamo said....

You have no reason to worry, except that the forum doen't like illegit pokemon!!

Cyan Goggles May 24th, 2007 12:37 PM

Okay, I think I got it. ^^ Thank you very muich you guys.

No prob Chi. And yeah, like CyberCyndaquil said, we here at PC don't really accept illegit/hacked Pokémon up for trade, so if you see anyone suspicious, just go ahead and report the post. ;)

...I didn't know you were still around...

Not quite. If you try to use an illegit Legendary (like Mew), it might not obey you, regardless of how many badges you have. While I haven't looked into it in D/P, this held true in the GBA games.

But otherwise CyberCyndaquil's answer is good.

A few words of notice…

When you find a Mew, there are some points that allow you to identify a hacked Pokémon. I'll list them:
• Mew cannot, as of the Advance Generation, be caught below Level 30. Any Mew with a physical level below that is not legitimate.
• Mew MUST have been migrated "from Hoenn" in the Trainer Memo. (In the case of Emerald players, it must be caught at Level 30 be and from Faraway Island. It must also be obedient, in that it cannot disobey you while you have a sufficient amount of badges.
This does allow a hacker to identify what they need to modify to make a Mew seem legitimate, but I can't do anything about that. Having the information is essential to those who care regardless. These conditions may be invalid if Nintendo offers Mew in a Nintendo event.

Additionally, the obedience flag does not appear to apply in Diamond and Pearl, so the Mew will obey.

The only real benefit of owning a legitimate Mew is that it can battle and be entered in tournaments that check for illegitimate Pokémon.

Oh so it isn't still around? Okay, thanks for that...but weren't the Toys-R-Us Mews a low level, like 10 or something (I have no idea, since I didn't get one)?

There were two Mews offered at Lvl 10. One was an US event, and the other the Japanese Movie event.

Yeah, I thought so. So it's possible to have a legitimate level 26 Mew.

Ayano Katagiri May 25th, 2007 2:53 PM

Yeah, but you still would have to watch what's being traded. There's a list recently compiled on Serebii that gives you all the Pokemon ever released in events, including OT numbers and special moves they may have had, like Pika with Surf.

No, it's not the weirdest thing. There are two ways to get it at a level between 10 and 30.

1. Read my earlier post, Mew was offered at Lvl 10.
2. Cheating.
