Why does a ball wiggle during battle sometimes?

Before you select to fight, the upper-left section of the touch screen has pokeballs and sometimes one of them rocks side-to-side. I don't think the wiggling pokemon has super-effective attacks against the opponent. I've been told that it means the pokemon is close to leveling up but I haven't been able to test it yet. Does anybody know for sure?

i noticed it a couple times. the level up thing makes sense.

Yah, it means that a pokemon is close to leveling up.

I saw it in the instruction booklet for my Diamond.

Awesome; I wasn't sure anybody would even know what I'm talking about. Is there a certain number or percentage of experience a pokemon will need for it's ball to wiggle?

SilverDragon May 30th, 2007 6:59 PM

Hmm..i never noticed it..=/

I have....I always wonder what that meant...

i was under the impression those are the pokemon that would be a good match against your current opponent... so your electric types wiggle while fighting a goldeen for example..

I've noticed that and it was a good thing that they put this new feature in the game

I'm 90% sure that means it's close to leveling up.

I believe, though I may be mistaken, that the Pokéball will wiggle when the Pokémon is capable of leveling up from the EXP gained from the Pokémon you are battling.

Thanks everyone! I tested it and it's definitely about leveling up. Also, when I put out the wiggler they level up after defeating the opponent. So you guys were exactly right. :)
