Garchomp>Salamence?

As the title says.

Please Discuse.

TwilightBlade May 31st, 2007 4:40 PM

Yeah I think so since I keep getting owned by my brother... Who usually sucks. :x Garchomp is a speedy and powerful beast that is so overrated though. I'm training an Aerodactyl now to overspeed that Garchomp and Ice Fang it. >_>

AztecSunshine May 31st, 2007 5:18 PM

i stil like salmence he is sooo cool and a great dragon type but why isit always garchomp and salmence every on seems to forgot flygon flygon can beat a garchomp and a salmence flygon rules

CloneD_Darkrai May 31st, 2007 5:25 PM

Isn't flygon a Garchomp with diffarent stats, and has Ground/Dragon while Garchomp has Dragon/Ground?

Anyway, it is my friend who can train either a salamence or a Garchomp.

Can you please look at the thread in Pokemon stategies/Movesets called Garchomp Moveset? Thanks!

Ichikool May 31st, 2007 5:26 PM

Oooh, I love Garchomp. He's definitely my favorite dragon type Pokemon... I don't have one yet in Diamond, but I'm seaching hard for Gible! I love how he looks too. Because I love sharks. <3

Sparks May 31st, 2007 5:57 PM

I just don't like Garchomp. No major in-depth reason. I just don't like it.

Psi Yamaneko May 31st, 2007 7:30 PM

I hope to become the first person I know (in Real Life™) to NOT use either Garchomp or Salamence in her team.

NekrosKoma May 31st, 2007 8:01 PM

i was going to link you to veekun where i compared but i cant link

but thiere is not much difference, but Salalmence has a much higher sp. atk

really i think their kind of each other antithesis of sorts (Ground VS Flying)

Richard Lynch May 31st, 2007 8:19 PM

Garchomp doesn't have ground immunity... but yet they both are 4x weak to Ice... makes Salamence better, although Garchomp gets a STABed Earthquake, which can simply massacre teams. I personally feel both of them are WAY too overused. I'd much rather see my main man, Metagross, as a more popular physical sweeper. That, and I just don't like Dragons.

Soulinferno May 31st, 2007 8:37 PM

Personally I adore dragons but I hate every dragon pokemon that their is except dragonair I mostly say this because im more of a superficial trainer i only have a pokemon in my team if it looks cool.

Did you use a Dragonite on your team when we battled?

Someone did... and my Milotic destroyed it. :P

Paranoia June 1st, 2007 1:05 AM

Yeah, I dislike garchomp aswell, and I got rid of salamence off my team, Metagross is SO much better imo, and a bad thing is, because dragons are so common, every team has Ice beam as standard, which kills dragons

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ June 1st, 2007 1:58 AM

that is true, dragon type Pokemon appear more on team more offten now. So has an Ice attacker, either I have an ice attacker or an ice tytpe Pokemon on my team because of it

Salamence is weaken by rock also. But it has a more varied movepool. I don't see Flygon getting any attention like this.

AztecSunshine June 1st, 2007 2:07 AM

i saod that to i think flygon is the coolest strongest and he has wings wich gave him a flying another tybe of moves to use he is the best
anyway i say salmence

I wanted to use metegross, but could never find a good move pool. A lot of people also have earthquake or sandstorm teams.

RR☆Oresama June 2nd, 2007 12:58 AM

Garchomps are the only Pokemon I NEED to complete my dex with. So where is the best place for a Garchomp to be?

Dragon Tamer Ed June 2nd, 2007 2:57 AM

The way I see it, they are pretty even. Garchomp's speed & defensive capabilities are slightly higher than Salamence's but Salamence has slightly higher attack. Plus Salamence has Intimidate which can screw over not just Garchomp but any Physical Sweeper. Salamence also has a Ground immunity. But Garchomp has a Sandstorm immunity. (Also an Electric immunity but since Electric types usually carry Ice attacks this isn't really that useful). Garchomp has fewer weaknesses but Salamence has more resistances. And Salamence can also be a good Special/Mixed sweeper. Something Garchomp is not so good at. So each Dragon to his own. They're both sweeping machines. I prefer Salamence but that's only because he looks cooler, and his shiny form actually looks different.

Forget Flygon, Garchomp, and Salamence...Dragonite is the way to go! his base attack is freakishly high! My dragonite is lvl 55, which means it just evolved and its attack is already over 210.

Dragonite may be flying/Dragon but it can learn elec/fire/water/dragon/ice/some ground moves

Dragonite FTW

SilverDragon June 2nd, 2007 11:08 AM

Lol im not sure bout the stats and stuff but i like Salamence better then Garchomp. =/

Breaker June 2nd, 2007 5:52 PM

Dragonite! His move pool is great. He's cute.^^ He has stayin' power. He's the BEST!!
Dragonite rulez!

May I remind you Garchomp has nearly the same attack stat of Dragonite, better speed and better movepool than Dragonite? Also, Dragonite is put to shame by Flygon who has better speed, and Salamence owns Dragonite with it's ability?

You have to like Dragonite to support it like that when it's outbeat so much.

linkinpark187 June 2nd, 2007 6:06 PM

it depends on how you EV train your Dragonite. if you train it right, Dragonite can be a tank, and a very good one at that. sure, Garchomp and Flygon can learn Ground Type attacks, BUT Dragonite can completely miss Ground Type attacks, and most anything else is ineffective agains it (except Dragon and Ice, of course, lol). that's what makes Dragonite so great. my vote for Dragon Pokémon has always gone to Dragonite. :D

AztecSunshine June 2nd, 2007 6:58 PM

flygon well always rule he is the best and with good ev training he's killing machine lol he can learn fire and ice tybe move's i think he well rule the dragon poke's if they post thread with all the dragon poke's flygon wel win for sure

Chaolin June 2nd, 2007 10:23 PM

Flygon dominates Garchomp because of it's Levitate ability. Flygon can learn fly as well which gives it a nice advantage over grass pokemon.
