Having trouble with Team Galactic

I'm having trouble with Commander Mars/Jupiter, her Skuntank is way to strong for my Grotle, He's level 30 and he still can't beat her stinky meadly no good Skuntank, here's his MOVEset:

Stealth Rock
Mega Drain
Bite
Grass Knot

And what is bad about it that there are hardly NEW TMS at the begginning of the game and all my Grotle's TMS are weak against the stupid Skuntank, what shall I do? I am running out of money, I've lost 6 times and even with super potions I still can't win it. It's too strong, and all I have left of my team is a Bidoof, level 6, HM Slave, and only those two and I keep on getting owned. Help needed, thanks!

Plz don't tell me your only training your starter. If you trained other pokemon, namely 6 for a complete in-game team, like most you shouldn't have this problem. My advice is go train another pokemon to beat her Skuntank.

Another thing you can do is simply level up your Grotle twice and evolve it into Torterra. Not only would it lose its weakness to poison-type attacks (thanks to it becoming Grass/Ground), but you'd also learn Earthquake, which is strong and super-effective against the Poison/Dark Skuntank. Not entirely sure what level Pokémon you're fighting against though, and yea, you really should focus less on your starter for a while and get an actual team together. But if you want to get Team Galactic out of the way first, evolving may help.

Evolve it in 2 levels and teach it earthquake, no other way you'll beat it, Skuntank has the advantage over a Grotle, especially with that moveset ^^;

Ya evolving it is also a good way to get her Skuntank out the way faster, but I just thought him having an actaul team would be better advice for the long run. Also I wasn't 100% sure what level Grotle evolved at and didn't know it learned EQ As soon as it evolves. (I knew it learned eventually)

i can trade you a decent pokemon that's at level 40/50

You should really have a team of 6 ranging between level 30 - 40 by now =/

Evolve Grottle, get yourself a few good pokemon, all different types, go back and train again. Use the VS seeker if you have it.

SilverDragon June 3rd, 2007 9:14 PM

Evolve ur Grotle and train a psychic poke in there..maybe a Kadabra or Alakazam can help.. =/

Pkmn Trainer Alex June 3rd, 2007 9:57 PM

A Psychic-type would be nice on a team, if that's what you meant, but it wouldn't help much with the Skuntank problem, as Dark-type Pokémon are immune to Psychic attacks, and Psychic-types are weak to Dark attacks (though I can't really recall the moveset the Skuntank used). x_x

Edit in response to below: Ah, yea, forgot about Miracle Eye. Guess that would work out well enough, thanks for reminding me of that. And Focus Blast wouldn't be super-effective on Skuntank either, but I guess you really don't necessarily need super-effective attacks in-game. Yay for overpowering bad AI. XD

Angelic Diablo June 4th, 2007 2:07 AM

Most Alakazams I've come across have Focus Blast in order to take out the predicted Dark type switching in on them, on in the case of AI just blast it anyway, they won't switch regardless

Myzou June 4th, 2007 2:18 AM

I took him out with my alakazam actually, it's amazing how useful Miracle Eye is =D Removes Dark's immunity to Psychic, (Not said in game, but it does =P) And with Skuntanks Poison subtype, it becomes Super Effective ^.~
