Another shiny question

I just want to be shure. If I start a new game in Fire Red and go to get my starter, and it isn't shiny, could I restart agin untill I get a shiny??? I know it will take a long time, but what other way can you get shiny charizard in GBA, right!?!?!?

Please help.

Ayano Katagiri June 5th, 2007 10:31 PM

This is the only way to get shiny starters in the game.

Have fun, as this may take a long time. There's a 1 in 8192 chance of a Pokemon being shiny at any time.

and if you give up choice number 2 is to cheat, basically your wasting your time when you do this

There is another way, just keep breeding eggs and an egg has a chance of hatching into a shiny

Oh yeah that is right, but I was thinking more as in the first starter. Either way, it's tedious.

Lapras1016 June 7th, 2007 12:56 AM

Yeah, it's really headachingly annoying. The 1/8192 chance is constant, by the way, so 8191 battles won't do good. That's also the same chance you get for hatching Shiny Pokemon - Shinings are not guaranteed to reproduce Shining babies. I'm currently trying to get a Shiny Rayquaza in my Emerald by soft reseting if it's not shiny. :p

CloneD_Darkrai June 7th, 2007 5:48 AM

I thought about making eggs with a ditto, then having magcargo and 5 eggs and hatch them until I get a shiny, but theres two problems:

1) I want to get it in a GBA game, so I can clone.

2) I don't want 8191 charmanders!

And that's only if you get a shiny charmader, beacuse the stats are reset everytime. :P about the sixth time I started a new game on Sapphire, I got a shiny Torchic (yes, I've played throught the entire game six times).

nguyende June 7th, 2007 1:16 PM

Yeah, I think the only methods of obtaining a shiny starter Pokémon are soft-reseting, breeding, and the alterative... cheating! :O
Both the soft-reseting and breeding methods take quite a bit of time (unless you're luky)... :(
and I don't even know if you CAN get a shiny Pokémon through cheating.
I can't say I've ever had a shiny starter Pokémon before, but I have been pretty lucky on my emerald version. About 30 minutes into gameplay I ran into a shiny Poochyena, and at the Sky Tower I ran into a shiny Rayquaza first time. :)
Now I have a LV. 53 shiny Mightyena and LV. 78 shiny Rayquaza.

LOL.... the chance are reset each time meaning, even if you do have 8192 Charmanders, there is still the chance that there might not even be one shiny.

Not stats, chances.

You can cheat for shinies.

THATS JUST CHEEP!!!!!!

I think it will take way to long to make eggs, hatch them, and make some more. There's gonna be a lot of lose charmanders when I release them all, thats for shure!

PS. If I cheat on a shiny charmander, and clone it, but only use the cloned one, is that still cheating?

Technically, yes. Cloning isn't meant to be in the game, and using the glitch to clone a hacked Pokemon would count as cheating in a number of people's eyes. What's the point though? You've already cheated to get the shiny, there's no point to continue and say you didn't cheat by cloning.

CloneD_Darkrai June 9th, 2007 4:41 AM

I didn't think cloning would be a cheat? Then how do people get all those leftovers? Anyway, I don't have an AR, so I couldn't cheat if I wanted too.

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ June 9th, 2007 4:57 AM

some people get alot of leftovers by trading 2 snorlax's from FR/LG and if you have both than thats 4. Other people pick up Leftovers and some get them from the BF
