Help with team (problems with blissey)

Hey all, this is my new team and it usually fares pretty well in netbattle, with one exception. Blissey, when used properly usually ends up making me lose. I can take her out when she is the last pokemon standing and I still have my phyicals, but when shes used in the middle of the battle I can never do enough damage to take her out without succumbing to seismic toss.

Heres my team...

Celebi @ leftovers
Calm, 252 hp, 108 def, 148 sdef
Heal Bell
HP (grass)
Leech Seed
Recover

Starmie @ leftovers
Modest, 252 speed, 252 satk, 4 hp
Ice Beam
Psychic
Surf
Thunderbolt

Heracross @ leftovers
Adamant, 252 atk, 56 def, 200 spd
Earthquake
Focus Punch
Megahorn
Swords Dance

Zapdos @ leftovers
Modest, 156 hp, 100 spd, 252 satk
HP (fire)
Rest
Sleep Talk
Thunderbolt

Suicune @ leftovers
Bold, 252 hp, 220 def, 36 spd
Calm Mind
Rest
Roar
Surf

Metagross @ choice brand
Hardy, 252 atk, 156 def, 100 spd
Earthquake
Explosion
Meteor Mash
Rock Slide

Besides the Blissey problem, any thoughts, comments or suggestions are welcome.

Also keep the pokemon and moves to usable on emerald version.

The only thing you have that can defeat Blissey early on is Focus Punch - a move that's hard to use in general. If you can, grab yourself a Substitute Passer or Hypnosis, although Hypnosis is hard because of Natural Cure.

My sggestion is to drop Focus Punch and go with Brick Break - with Hera's STAB and good Attack, it should be able to OHKO Blissey, taking a small portion of damage itself from the switch; but with Blissey, that's inevitable either way.

Another option is to add the SubPunching Gengar - Seismic Toss has no effect on it, and Ice Beam will put a dent in him, but with a Substitute up and Gengar's insane speed, he'd easily KO Bliss with Focus Punch, possibly even OHKO.

Oh, also, being a Metagross user myself, go with Adamant for him, and move those EVs from Defense into HP - one of the most important things to know is that in the long run, HP will allow you to last longer than Defense will. Thus, the Blissey factor.

The payoff from Focus Punch is way better if you know how to predict. Not to mention that Focus Punch 2KOs Pokemon that are even supposed to be resistant to Fighting.

Not even close. Gengar can only hope for a 2KO at best. Nothing that doesn't get Fighting STAB can OHKO Blissey with Focus Punch without some kind of stat boost. Also, the main reason Blissey has Ice Beam is to stop Gengar from having a Substitute up in the first place. Speed doesn't matter when FP always goes last.

You shouldn't have a problem with Blissey at all when you have both Heracross and Celebi AND Zapdos AND Suicune. In fact, Blissey should be the LEAST of your problems.
Blissey absolutely hates both Heracross and Celebi. Zapdos and Suicune easily stall Blissey out with Pressure + Rest. There's no way it can defeat them with Seismic Toss.

Celebi @ leftovers
Bold, 252 hp, 108 def, 148 sdef
Heal Bell
HP (grass)
Leech Seed
Recover

Bold please. Makes it harder for Dugtrio to kill you.

Starmie @ leftovers
Timid, 252 speed, 252 satk, 4 hp
Ice Beam/Rapid Spin
Recover

Surf
Thunderbolt

Timid always. Psychic is quite useless. No Fighting or Poison types are going to switch in on Starmie. Recover and maybe Rapid Spin if Spikes are bothering you.

Heracross @ leftovers
Adamant, 252 atk, 56 def, 200 spd
Rock Slide
Focus Punch
Megahorn
Swords Dance

For the most part, Earthquake is useless on Fighting types. Fighting is supereffective against most of the same types that Ground is - Rock and Steel. But since Fighting types get STAB from Fighting moves, that means the good Fighting attacks will always be stronger than Earthquake. In the case of Focus Punch, even Electric types will take more damage from it than from Earthquake. A STABed Focus Punch has 225 power. A supereffective Earthquake has only 200 power.

Plus, Earthquake does absolutely NOTHING to help you against Flying types. Flyers will laugh at your Heracross unless you give it Rock Slide.

Zapdos @ leftovers
Modest, 252 hp, 100 spd, 252 satk
HP (Ice/Grass)
Rest
Sleep Talk
Thunderbolt

RestTalk Zapdos should always have Max HP and tons of SDef.
HP Fire is useless. HP Ice or Grass is what you want.

Suicune @ leftovers
Bold, 252 hp, 220 def, 36 spd
Calm Mind
Rest
Roar
Surf

Standard.

Metagross @ choice brand
Adamant, 252 atk, 156 def, 100 spd
Earthquake
Explosion
Meteor Mash
Rock Slide

I'm pretty sure you meant Adamant.

Another idea to OHKO blissey is to give your heracross a choice band.

My two cents.

SomeGuy18 June 6th, 2007 10:56 AM

Alright thanks for the tips everyone

Richard Steel - Thanks for the idea about the subpuching gengar, but in my experiences he's been too fragile, i might just be using him wrong, but he doesn't last long in a fight and its not worth saving him just for when blissey comes in.

aragonbird - I took most of your suggestions, and as far as the hp (ice, grass) over fire goes, I actually had ice on him, but I was having a lot of trouble with grass types so i've been having some success with the fire

GC - Thanks for the idea, but I had choice brand on heracross before and I had trouble using it successfully.

Needs more physical sweeping. May I suggest Garchomp?

Did someone forget that Grass are weak to both Fire AND Ice? =\
