Yeah, the green version is the Japanese version of blue, so they had Red/Green, which were released before the US versions, so they decided just to change the colour from red to blue and have identical games (in terms of graphics) instead of releasing the 'bad graphics' green version I guess...

Hahahahahaha

Look at mew in Green Version! :P

Hahaha, that thing doesn't look like it can stand on it's two legs if it were to follow natures laws...

Anyways, I like the starter sprites of G/S/C best, though the Advanced generation ones look awesome. But there's a feeling to the Metal generation ones that nothing beats ^^

XD Yeah, you're right!

I like the metal gen sprites too! They bring back lots of memories................*sigh*

moon January 19th, 2008 6:35 AM

Speaking of Metal gen.... is there a way to get your hands on a Kanto starter in G/S/C without trading?
(this is starter-related)

I'm sorry there isn't any way to get a starter from Kanto in those games.

moon January 19th, 2008 6:55 AM

That's not great. Hm.

But still, you have a Johto starter, and those are real coolness ^^
This is why the 3:rd gen and 4:th gen can never be as good as Metal gen.:

Great picture fabledawn; I too think that the 2nd gen starters are the coolest.

I wish you could....my Charizard on Crystal that I traded for Yellow didn't listen to a word I said! :P

Hey, thats kinda like Ash's charizard huh?

EDIT: That pic is pretty neat...the totodile family was by far my favourite in the metal gen! (apart from crocanaw...it looks like a caveman)

moon January 19th, 2008 9:47 AM

Haha, Croconaw does look ugly yeah. But still, Chikorita and Bayleef are the best! (not the best, no, but the cutest... ^^)
And heah, apart from the fact that Charizard did obey Ash in Johto :P

Check out this, it's a page from the GoldenBoys manga featuring the Johto starters, translated by Maxim here at PC.

Quidoo January 19th, 2008 10:18 AM

Ahhh! The order is all backwards! :S I don't usually read manga though

Totodile is awesome...and is it just me that things cyndaquil looks really dumb? (I like its evo's though)

moon January 19th, 2008 11:24 AM

No, I've never liked Cyndaquil's looks either. And in that manga, it looks unusually fat.

Chikorita(/Totodile) wins. Easily. But Bulbasaur/Squirtle/Charmander... I really can't decide on those!

Yeah, I think its looooong nose makes it look really...odd
I prefer bulbasaur from the pre-evod kanto ones, then wartortle from the mid-evos and then, of course, charizard from the final evo's :) Yeah...a bit of each

GastlyGuy January 19th, 2008 1:29 PM

I <3 Blastoise, Charizard and Blaziken.Can I join?

Yeah, I agree with Jason. Totodile is the starter pokemon I like the most and Charmander is just as awesome and it's evo. :)

Well, you do get the Johto starters in Emerald~ one of them anyway if you finish the Pokedex. So I guess that's a little compensation for the lack of them.

moon January 19th, 2008 3:04 PM

Gastlyguy, I'm sure you can join. Feel free to start posting in our club!

There aren't many Johto Pokémon in Hoenn anyway....

Ayano Katagiri January 19th, 2008 3:06 PM

Yeah, there's some in the Safari zone, but not many. D:

moon January 19th, 2008 3:14 PM

But to take us back onto the topic of starters...... this might be a silly topic, cause I'm in a silly mood >(

Which of the starter evolutions would you rather bring on a hike in the wilderness? If there weren't wild pokémon.
This is NOT which would you rather have fighting off wild pokémon.

I'd love to go hiking with Venusaur. He could give me a ride, and lift me up to places with vines. But Charizard wouldn't be bad either, we could fly when it got too rough to walk. But he couldn't take a nice dip in a river or lake...

GastlyGuy January 19th, 2008 3:19 PM

Hmm..thats a tough choice but I would take Blaziken as he could create caves by kicking the rocks and you would have shelter for the night. But Charizard is a good choice and Venasaur could come in handy and some points.

Quidoo January 19th, 2008 3:46 PM

Charizard I guess, but that wouldn't involve much 'hiking'
It would be fun to use blastoise, when you get to the top of the mountain or something, you could slide all the way back to the bottom on its shell! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! :P

Fiver January 19th, 2008 3:54 PM

I guess I would take Croconaw with me on a hike. That and Charmeleon, both who could clear a path through the grass with Slash and any other obstacles.

Hm... let me answer that again. I would bring Meganium, of course. It can give me a better lift than Venusaur, and do the same things anyway. And it's cute.
