How come they wouldn't allow this?
In Red/blue version, they allowed Gold/Silver to trade through. How come they didn't allow Gold/Silver to trade with Ruby/Sapphire? I remember when I tried, I cried because I couldn't transfer over my Mew... ;_;

Most likely it was because of hardware and software limitations....The GBA is completely different from the GBC and GB
Epecially when it comes to the software inside of it... Besides to move a pokemon to R/S/E from G/S/C or R/B/Y it would have to convert all of the pokemon data to the current version....which means mapping IVs to EVs and it would just be a terribly and most likely horrendously imposible to code much less debug.... |
But I mean like...Only certain pokemon are transferrable from G/S to R/S? I mean come on...Common Pokemon (Pikachu, Meowth, Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Mew, Mewtwo) That shouldn't be such a problem right?
It would of been nice if they included in R/S some type of quest to allow a once-in-a-game-time chance to transfer any of your pokemon from older versions to the new ones... right? - MegamanC |
The GBA doesn't allow any connectivity to older systems. IVs, EVs or anything else game related has nothing to do with it.
Unlike the GBC to GBC transfers, GBC to GBA transfers are not possible from the side of the hardware, as there are some major differences between those systems. As much as you wish it, it's simply not possible, neither are the changes very high of anything like that happening anytime in the future. |
There is a way to get one of the G/S/C starters.
If you complete the entire Hoenn dex (no easy task), the professor will call you on your PokeNav, and tell you he has a surprise for you. You go to his lab, and you can pick one of the G/S/C starters. Now for all those other pokemon..... You're on your own there, pal. |

But yes, It would be nice if we were able to transfer our Pokémon from G/S/C to R/S/E... :P Except my PKMN Crystal Version was stolen, so I couldn't even ifit were possible :( |
Technically they COULD have designed a special cable to convert voltages from one to the other, but it would have been prohibitively expensive.

but they didn't... :( |
