How do you Visualize the Future?

How do you see the future, no not your future, the Future of Earth? I see it in two different ways, and they all have to do with Politics, Religion, and the way things go by the people of the future.

The Good, Vision of the Future, Esthar[FF8]

First of all, Streets made of Glass of a transparent Material will replace Tarred Roads. Hypersonic tunnels will transport you do your destination faster than trains, they will be built under water or above and around Cities. The Attire of the Future will be Sophisticated and Classy, worn by everyone. Artificial Beaches will be Created and Cities will be Encased in a Dome of Glass. Many Things can be seen in the Future, even the Flying Cars ^^

The Horrid, Vision of the Future, Earth[2073AD--Cowboy Bebop]

Earth will be a barren, desolate wasteland that will be lowly populated, people will seek the stars for advice, colonizing other planets as they go along. Nations wont exist, and if they do, they'll be categorized by Planet. Lots of Accidents involving Air and Food will come to be and only Wealthy people would be saved, for a little while if any time. People will die, and will Polute the streets, but a method of killing off Waste, Ships Programmed to Enter the Sun will send Trash there.

What Are your Ideas on the Future?

^^NICK^^ v.2.0 May 13th, 2004 3:40 PM

I think the future will be like the present, just with new ways to brush your teeth.

Castrainer May 13th, 2004 3:44 PM

Maybe Nick are right, hehe... Or they may create some type of alrm-clock that the ring is better than 'pipi-pipi-pipi' or a 50000 blocks memory card... or the world will be turned into a selvage jungle with killer dinosaurs and meteor showers every day :)

John Denver May 13th, 2004 4:08 PM

completely the same, except with slight advances in medicine and agriculture...

yep...BOO ya!

Latios Master May 13th, 2004 4:13 PM

I think the Earth will be kinda like the present, but with newer technology, more politics, more wars, more natural disasters (hurricanes, forest fires, ect.), and of course we can't forget those flying cars. ;)

Flying Cars? I dont think so... maybe the cars will make us FLY, hitting us hehe...

More wars? Great! Err..... i mean, nooooo! I want just pillow wars!

^^NICK^^ v.2.0 May 13th, 2004 4:22 PM

Ha! I doubt there will ever be a flying car. Then what would we need airplanes for? People might try flying out of the country, without a passport!!!

I agree! They must create teleports! I want one! But... you will have to pay U$ 2.000.000.000.000 per month to use

Simon May 13th, 2004 4:51 PM

I'm expecting human waste to pollute Earth, kill off every animal. All the oil will be used up, so people have to walk or use bikes. Half of America's population will die because they are too fat to walk to the nearest food store. Carbon from fossil fuels and gasoline will create a crazy greenhouse effect, raising the temperature and melting the Polar Ice Caps. Drinking polluted water will cause human infants to be mutants. The only source of food is freakishly mutated crops. The enxt stage of human evolution has been jump started, and like many animals that are now dead, it will branch off into different forms of humans due to mutation. Oh, and another source of food for those desperate enough will be cannibalizm. Civilization has ended.

Eventually, the greenhouse effect will be so serious of a problem that humans will now have to literally learn to live in water, forcing them to evolve further into mermish people, who have grown immune to the pollutants in water. They will restart civillization under water, only to be wiped off the face of the Earth when the greenhouse effect gets even worse making the water superheated. So basically Earth becomes a death zone like Mercury and Venus.

If you think about, that may become a possibility. Might even start tomorrow if enough nukes are denoted. Those who aren't killed by the nukes will just die in about 1 month to nuclear winter. There is no such thing as a good future.

ryan May 13th, 2004 5:03 PM

optomistic aren't we? i think the world'll stick around, with slight developments here and there, hopefully we'll evolve a little and realize that war (except pillow war) it totaly stupid. and in the future... i'll be dead, and my kids won't be.

Simon May 13th, 2004 5:06 PM

I don't really care if Earth goes out in nuclear war, long as it happens after I die.

Flaming Torchic May 13th, 2004 5:15 PM

Hmm, I have had a lot of thoughts on what the future holds for our planet earth, and sometimes I think that it will be bad, and sometimes I think that it will be good, but either way, I sense a change. Anyways, since I have two different visions of what the future might hold, I will do it the way you did it Dizzy.

Good Vision

There will be an extreme advance in technology, there will be easier ways of transporting large technological things by either somehow learning how to shrink objects, or to learn how to teleport things. To reduce pollution, our future will design a car that will in no way harm out planet, and will make our vehicles more efficient and longer lasting. World peace will happen, and the people of our planet will learn how to work together (as us humans will evolve, and eventually mature even more).

Bad Vision

The world will continue to be full of hate and death, the people of our world will drift even further away from world peace, and will nearly cause our planet to be destroyed by their actions. There will be no mroe freedon, and there will be no more luxuries such as T.V's, consoles, and even computers (yes, and that includes forums. =p). The percentage in homeless people will gradually increase, and all of our crops will wither away and die, causing us to find other things to eat such as bugs.

The dytopia is coming and it isn't that far away, and CERTAINLY in our life time. If USA is so lack of water that they reversed the flow of a river near the Great Lakes to drain water from Canada, well I can't imagine how's the water shortage situation like in other places like India or African countries. The estimated time for USA to run out of water is just 30 years... not far. So in our future, we'll be seeing water station, not gas station. Fossil Fuel I'm not as worried in comparison to water.

Fishing won't exist, because the sea surface will be covered in corpses anyway. In this rate, pollution will wipe out the earth pretty quickly unless we do some hard work in recycling and reducing greenhouse gas. Unfortunately some countries are certainly not corporating too well by refusing Kyoto (and they're the biggest energy waster too... but then again Canada is 2nd place for energy wasting o.o; )

There is one way to save the earth: 3rd world war. Wipe 1/2 of the world out, and I promise you that there won't be any shortage of any resources. By then weapons of mass destruction will be a kitchen knife, because we won't have anything better after WW3.

Now on to the positive side

Advanced miraculous technology solves the problem above, such as spaceship taking tons of garbage and just toss it out in space (and hope that it won't float back to crush us). Something like that can help too. As for water, if the governemnt is less greedy and decides to dump some money into those plants that 'transform' salt water into fresh water, then we can live on longer too.

And of course when we visualize the future, we visualize part of our own lives as well... I see an elegant, truly beautiful lady all the way from Kansas waiting for me... someday this dream shall become reality... ^-^

Simon May 13th, 2004 5:56 PM

Usually...it's the bad things that happen. Best way I can think of to reduce the greenhouse effect is to plant more trees so they can go through photosytheis and recycle the carbon. Hmmm...any chance the Sahara Desert can be renamed Sahara Forest?

Frostweaver May 13th, 2004 5:59 PM

there are special plants that grow in the desert (those little shrub thingies). Plant them all over along with trees that grow in a semi-desert area. Use them to hold down the little soil that's left (and trees acting as windshield to reduce erosion). Then when there's enough of those and watering, can slowly introduce grass and other plants and work your way like this (small part of China is trying this)

As for CO2 and O2, actually trees barely help... it's actually algaes that does all the work o.o; So stopping water pollution is more of a priority to most people's surprises (of course we should try to save both algaes and trees, as trees help against erosion and animal habitat and what not).

Simon May 13th, 2004 6:02 PM

Oh yeah..I forgot about the algae. I never even heard of them until I saw this one movie on Sci-Fi about Earth getting screwed and having to go to Mars to try to find a way to save Earth and they find algae on Mars.

BTW...is my 'Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups' appropriate?

Frostweaver May 13th, 2004 6:05 PM

Completely appropriate to my standards... not like you're implying who belongs to the "big group" or anything. I've done much worst stuff than you ;p Anyone in a large group is very influencial and very dangerous, if they're evil, or stupid. And likewise, a group of warm-hearted smart people will change the world for the better in the same way.

ryan May 13th, 2004 6:12 PM

world war three will never happen. the world is made up of idiots, but we're not so dumb to engage in full out war with all the nukes that are in existance. so, the nukes are kind of like an anti-war protection thingy. interesting concept... i mean, i wouldn't mess with a country that had a nuke... and as more and more countries develop them, the number of countries that could get invoved will drop. except the US... we love war because we're kinda weird that way.

Simon May 13th, 2004 6:22 PM

There is still always the possibility of a madman who would take over as dictator of a country who has nukes and just press a button to snuff out Earth in a mushroom cloud.

ryan May 13th, 2004 6:24 PM

there are no countries that have madmen in charge. or could. the UN forbids it. for example, germany and japan are banned from nuke posession, though, india and pakistan are maybe countries to look out for (cuz they've got the big bombs) actually, scratch all of that, george is in charge... i totaly agree with you

illogical... that's like saying:

"we make guns because we need guns to protect ourselves from other people who have guns"

So what's the reasoning behind the creation of the first gun? =/

A missile can be made to be used for anti-missile blowing up other missiles. But that means someone out there has to use the missile for its very original purpose- ultimate destruction.

WW2 happened right after Great Depression. We think that no one can afford a war after years of economic torture and Britain almost going bankrupt and etc, but nope miracle happens as Italy, Germany and Japan magically found some cash to fund such tremendous troops to (try to) destroy everyone else. Likewise, in today's society, someone will magically find ways to destroy someone else first before those defense system goes on.

WW3 is possible? definitely. No such thing exist as "we're only making nuclear weapons for self defense here!" (well maybe except for the US as a report 2 years ago reveal the fact that USA lacks the technology North Korea has to make an up-to-date atomic weapon ;p)

~Cynical part of Frosty

On the other hand, the world will be so close to perfect one day... *dreams about what he wants to see happening in his future as written in his earlier post here*

You mean George as in George W. Bush? He's an idiot. That's my opinion of him. U.S. economy is getting wasted and he goes off spending 3 billion on a war.

ryan May 13th, 2004 6:33 PM

the world won't use nukes, you have to trust that people have some common sense. (except george) he's got his finger on the trigger and we're in his way! *so uncool*

Simon May 13th, 2004 6:36 PM

Little daddy's boy. I'm surprised he hasn't ripped up the Consitution and started his own little dictatorship yet. If he gets relected, I'm flying out of here before the U.S. goes broke/gets nuked/George becomes the next Hitler....hmmm..better start saving up for a ticket.

ryan May 13th, 2004 7:42 PM

here here, i made a sik animation about george bush nuking canada. i'll post it sometime. it's hilarious.
