Can a pokemon only have Pokerus once?

I got a Lugia with Pokerus, and it's not spreading.

All my other pokemon in my team have had Pokerus once before, so I'm wondering (insert thread title).

No they can't! It is like a real virus, one you get it, you can't get it again. Kinda!

To elaborate, when a Pokémon loses its Pokérus, it gains immunity. The effects of it, however, meaning the accelerated EV-growth, still remain. It just means that it can't be spread to or from that Pokémon anymore.
