The general competitive standard: Rules
There seem to have been an issue of what some rules mean and what some people on the forums play by so i decided to make this thread explaining what somethings actually mean.
Sleep clause: This means that you can ONLY put one pokemon of your opponents to sleep at a time. If the opponent rests' then that is a completely different story. That DOES NOT count toward the sleep count Double Team/Evasion clause: This is a commonly known rule because of the abilities such as Double Team and minimize. This means that the ability is NOT allowed in competitive pokemon gameplay. Item clause: This isnt standard in most cases but I shall add it anyway. This Clause means that only one type of item can be used per pokemon. Examples would mean that 2 pokemon cannot have 2 leftovers on them on the same team. This normally pretains to battle tower rules but some people follow them anyway. One hit KO clause: This means that anymove that forces a one hit KO are NOT allowed. Most people tend to follow this rule anyway but its always good to point it out. Hax Item clause: This means items such as quick claw/Brightpowder. Any Item with an ability similar to those 2 arent allowed in standard play Items: Quick Claw Brightpowder Scope Lens Razor Claw Razor Fang No ubers: This normally is already generally known but so that people dont say they do not know I shall post the official list that the japanese AND american competitive communities follow. Ubers - Pokemon that are too powerful in a competitive setting, and are thus banned under most conditions. Uber: Mewtwo Mew Wobbuffet Lugia Ho-Oh Latias Latios Kyogre Groudon Rayquaza Deoxys (all forms) Dialga Palkia Giratina Manaphy Darkrai Arceus Any of the pokemon on this list are considered"Uber" Pokemon. They have outstanding base stats compared to the rest of the pokemon with in the game. So its only natural to get rid of these pokemon so that people will not have to play against them in a competitive nature. No legendaries: This commonly gets mixed up with *ubers* Because of the fact that most legendaries have outstanding pokemon stats as well. But not all legendaries are considered uber. However if someone pulls out this rule generally it means non-uber legendaries as well. Which in some cases is pretty silly. But what can you do =P. No hacked stats/hacked ability pokemon: This is pretty simple and straight forward, but i will break it down anyway. NOT EVERYONE hacks pokemon with hacked stats, perfect IV''s or the like. Some people just DO NOT want to trade for some pokemon that people arent willing to trade away in the first place. Some are also commonly lazy and DO not feel like going through the trouble of waiting for somethings to happen(nintendo events cough) Hacked pokemon themselves are fine in a general state anyway. Hacked stat/abilities on pokemon tend to make the game less fun for alot of players so generally it isnt allowed. Some people care, some others dont. Either way it is frowned upon in general gameplay standards. If i come up with anything else, I will repost in this thread. (Can i get this stickied please? <3) A special note about the [email protected]: Due to general consensus, The [email protected] ARE considered uber with or with out souldew. They are only usable in nintendo sactioned events. Banned moves: Minimize Double Team Horn Drill Sheer Cold Fissure Guillotine |

Good write up. Include Item Clause, Hax Item Clause, and OHKO Clause. Also, your sig is too big. =\ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* |
As far as I know, item clause isn't standard. I think OHKO is though.
|
Lol alright i fixed the sig issue lol
Added The Item clause(i never really heard of a hacked item clause that didnt pretain to the event Items unless i missed something) |
Good layout.
I think another one should be made up. Stat Clause as in using moves that increase or decrease peoples stats. Moves that make your stats increase, decrease and vice versa for the opponent are NOT included. (Focus Blast, Charge Beam, Overheat, ETC.) |
I've never heard of someone using a Stat Clause before; that's just ridiculous.

Think you should add "Soul Dew" to your uber item or something
|
Soul Dew only functions with [email protected] Seeing as how the two are already banned from non-uber play, it seems like a moot point.

but seriously i am still going to consider evry single legend an uber (idc what you people say) |

What the rule gonna be here then? |
Actually, yes. [email protected] are only considered uber when they are holding the Soul Dew.
Also, not all legendaries are uber, that's dumb to think that way. For example, the 3 dogs don't have suberb stats, they are just decent, and infact pokemon like Jolteon are better than Raikou for the sole purpose that you can actually breed them to get good IVs. Legendaries like the dogs, birds, 3 psychics and such usually come with sucky IVs, unless they are hacked, but then that means you'd be falling back on the "Hack" rule. There is not reason at all to call all legendaries uber(Unless you like to use excuses as to why you are losing, I guess..). Seriously, some people need to learn. Tsk tsk. |
[email protected] are BOTH useable if they arent holding souldew. If they are they are considered uber. I have seen this very many and very credible sourses
|
So, in conclusion, it should be noted that [email protected] is banned when holding Soul Dew. Imo, just change the rules to allow [email protected], but forbid Soul Dew.
|
Soul Dew's not forbidden though. It's only forbidden when it's used on a [email protected] Yes, I realise it does nothing unless it's on a [email protected], but still, you can use it on a different Pokémon if you want (it could be helpful when using Trick, so the opponent would end up with a useless item).
"[email protected]" should be filed under Legendary. "[email protected] (holding Soul Dew)" should be filed under Uber. |
There are better things to trick, such as Macho Brace, black slude, fire orb, choice band, etc. But sure, your definitions works fine.
|
I know; was just making an example.
|
I updated it... There ya go
|
I think that [email protected] is uber regardless of its item. It's a superior Draco Meteor Pokemon to Salamence in so many ways it isn't funny:
Faster No 4x ice weak Calm Mind Recover And a better movepool. I thought it was consensus that they're banned regardless. |
Same here. With or without Soul Dew [email protected] is uber.
|
No according to COMPETITIVE gameplay standards. The [email protected] are NOT uber if they are not holding the soul dew item. It isnt changing because that is the general rule given out.
Apperently, For nintendo specific events. The [email protected] are allowed with out the item known as soul dew. However for competitive standards its completely debatable. So for right now I will leave the general statement up until something is completely set in stone about the [email protected] |

Also, the aspect of a better movepool holds no water whatsoever. [email protected] suffers from the 4 move syndrome, where basically every set is the same. Dragon Pulse/Psychic/Calm Mind/Recover is pretty much the standard, and I suspect a Choice Specs variant will have something similar to Draco Meteor/Psychic/Thunderbolt/Surf, possibly with Dragon Pulse, Shadow Ball or Energy Ball thrown in there. It's no more frightenting than some other special sweepers, and gets beaten by the same walls and prediction. Another thing to take note of is that Salamence can be bred. It is very difficult to catch a good IV'd [email protected], especially as often they are runners, and you only have one opportunity. With Salamence, you can be assured of good IVs with breeding. |

Its movepool isn't a huge advantage; all I'm saying is that it has a better once than Salamence. Mostly Thunderbolt. What about Eon Ticket [email protected]? Are they generated at the start of the game or when you talk to them? It's just as reasonable to get a good [email protected] that way as it is to breed a Salamence, bar the advantage of Everstone Traiting. But even then, you could Synchronize [email protected] |
Blehh, I'm really impartial to Mew being on the uber list...
