shuckle moveset
seeing as it has 230 in both defense and sp. defense
and it's really cute i thought it'd be good to have shuckle here's what i'm thinking: shuckle w/ leftovers timid/calm nature (252 def / 252 sp.def / 4 hp) moves: toxic double team rest bide what do you think? |
Shuckle's HP is very low, and as a general rule, HP must balance with your Defenses to have a truly good defensive tank. Also, his speed is absolutely dismal, so I wouldn't suggest trying to salvage it :)
How about Impish to boost his Defense through the roof? EV stuff: 252 HP, 96 def, 160 Sp. Def sounds about right. This lets him take special hits, too. Leftovers would boost his "tankingityness," as would Rest... If you wanna breed him, he can really support you with Knock Off, which takes out the Choice thingee Pokemon very surprisingly. Toxic is good for SLOW dealing with foes. |
is using choice bands really popular?
where can you get them in d/p anyway? and thanks for your input on shuckle i'm off to find a breeding chain w00t! XD |
Shuckle:
Attacks: Rest, Toxic, Double Team, & Earthquake Item: Bright Powder Nature: Sassy (Special Def + / Speed -) Strategy: Toxic, then Double Team w/Bright Powder, Rest if HP gets low, & Earthquake to attk. (helps take care of poison-type and steel-type Pokemon that can block toxic) D/P Choice Band can be found in Battle Park for 48bp. Hope that helped ya! |
i'd love to use earthquake
but i couldn't find any breeding chains that can pass it on to a shuckle =( i already used my tm before i found out about the item cloning glitch so that's out |
Heheh, of course, if you wanted to be...original, I guess, you could give him Power Trick, letting him have 600+ Attack...
Then Stone Edge, Return, or Earthquake if you ever buy an extra TM26 at the Battle Tower...all start looking appealing against special sweepers. ...Assuming they don't switch to a physical one...ouch. Maybe a few (like 2 or 3) Rock Polishes using a Jolly nature after all would--maybe--give him some speed? |
there's tm26 at the battle tower? @[email protected] oooooh lol
using power trick would be really really risky i'm thinking original but risky i think i'll stick with the original moveset you suggested.. though katana raised a good point: what about poison and steel pokémon that don't take toxic? @[email protected] so maybe: shuckle w/ leftovers impish nature (252hp, 96def, 160sp.def) - toxic - double team - rest - earthquake it would take a couple of earthquakes to ko opponents but after some double teams and rest i think it'd be good oh, and is it wise to use both shuckle and blissey on a team? |
Blissey is usually used as the special defense wall on a team. If that's the purpose she's serving for you (and not Heal Belling, special attacking, serene gracing, etc), then I'd say sure, think about a switch. :)
I mean, your team looks cut out for Sandstorm! Tyranitar's automatic sand stream, metagross, flygon, and shuckle all take it (or actually benefit from it), but Blissey is hurt by it (completely negates leftovers or causes mucho damage to Blissey's large HP). Shuckle should be a particularly good tanking substitute for Blissey here because during a sandstorm in D/P, his amazing special defense is raised by another 50% due to his Rock typing! Plus, he gets Sturdy which prevents 1-hit-KO moves people nowadays are using against my Blissbliss to get around its tankiness. So for sheer tankiness, an equal if not better special tanking ability (unless they use tons of hydro pumps), plus a much better physical walling ability, plus immunity to OHKOs, plus an asset to a sandstorm team, really means you might consider switching Blissey for a super special attacker or something. Maybe something that could turn you into an even more heavy-duty sandstorm team :) PS: Quote:
1. Choice Band--gives anybody who wears it an extra 50% Attack at the expense of sticking to the move you used over and over until a switch. Yes, actual Attack is boosted, so the wearer's special attacks aren't. Snag this thing at the...dumdumdum...BATTLE TOWER! For, like, 48BP (it ain't cheap). 2. Choice Specs--gives anybody who wears it an extra 50% SPECIAL Attack at the expense of sticking to the move you used over and over until a switch. Yes, actual SPECIAL Attack is boosted, so the wearer's physical attacks aren't. This thing you can pick up in Celestic town in that Fake pokemart (you know, the one in the house instead of the blue MART). There's some glasses guy who gives it to you really, really early in the morning. 3. Choice Scarf--the KILLER ITEM OF DEATH. Woo, this thing boosts speed 50%. That's...a tremendous advantage. A Garchomp with one of these on gets up to ~500 speed. That really sucks...especially if you counted on some speedy pokemon to finish it off in a jiffy. You could give one of these hot things to your Flygon and his speed would skyrocket, making it faster than any respectable Crobat or even electrode or ninjask. That can really mess up your opponents, especially since the fastest Pokemon on your team is Flygon (unless your metagross knows agility or your Dragonite really Dances). Battle tower for this one, too, I believe. PPS: That's a long PS... ;) |
ooooooh something choice not at the battle tower //goes//
by really early do u mean when the sun comes up in the game 4 am early? lol and actually the 6 in my trainer card aren't really my team they're just my faves that i own currently XD though you did bring up a good point, maybe a sandstorm team.. edit/ what about switching armaldo for dragonite (both physical sweepers) even though armaldo has the same types as shuckle |
I got mine at around 9:30AM, so you should be fine. :)
Since Armaldo serves a totally different purpose than Shuckle, I like the sound of it :) A very unexpected addition (slow sweeper) would be Cacturn. This thing isn't ground/rock/steel (it's plant) but it doesn't get hurt--in fact, it basically gets double-team status in sandstorm. Like Garchomp. But unlike Garchomp, it actually looks good. Especially the golden one, yeah. Though you might want to watch out for starmie-type things. Powerful water and ice moves could hurt (unless you're a really defensive Shuckle/Metagross), especially if none of your Pokemon actually resist surf (and 50% are weak to it). And watch out for Iron Tail/Iron Head/Meteor Mash/Steel Wing/ steel moves, yeah... Unless you're sure a 600 Def shuckle, 250 Def Tyranitar, or 300 Def Armaldo need it, really. Who's your special sweeper right now? |
my special sweeper would be flygon i guess, but i haven't really trained one for competitive battles yet
i'm just starting to get a team together the one i have has terrible ivs but i still love him, he's my fave he has fire blast, dragon pulse, crunch and earthquake i'd breed him to get a better one but i have a thing about having certain pokemon in specific pokeballs lol ^^;;; and it's such a b~ to use the pokeradar in a SANDSTORM to try and find a trapinch does it make a difference at what level you start to raise a pokemon? coz if not i might as well just catch vibravas this is what i'm thinking now for a team: flygon (special sweep) tyranitar (???) shuckle (tank) armaldo (physical sweep) claydol (tank) metagross (???) or maybe switch in cradily for something oh and thanks for helping out so much 'u' |

specifically targeted for those like synchronize (a lot of pshycs) and immunity and if i'm gonna be double teaming, bide is only gonna work a couple of times |
