2. What are 'chains' and do they work on ruby.

3. wheres the best place to catch voltorb, Gastly, Glacie (or its pre evolvement)

4.which ones most common

5. If i catch a shiny voltorb will it evolve to a shiny electrode.

1. Snorunt
2. no clue..need to know this one as well
3. I think Voltorb is in New Mauville, Gastly is in FR/LG, and Snorunt can be caught in Shoal Cave Ice room
4. Voltorb then Snorunt and Gastly isn't caught in R/S/E
5. I believe so (someone correct me please if I'm wrong)

Just to let you know, their are NO such things as chains in Ruby/Saphirre/Emerald, well that I know of.

xxArMaGeDdOn June 20th, 2007 8:36 AM

what are chains?

ty for your help

nguyende June 20th, 2007 9:24 AM

Huh? You made a new thread for your question... lol... and I just answered it in the thread Shiny Pokemon Discussion... Oh well, I just basically said everything Matty101 said. I'm curious to what chains are as well, even if they don't exist in the R/S/E games.

i didnt make a new thread:cool:
i made this one then noticed the shiny disscusion thread, ty fir answering.

Chains are when you use the pokeradar to encounter a pokemon, then catch or beat it, then see another one when the grass shakes again. (that's a chain of 2. If you catch or beat that one, and encounter another one, it's a chain of 3.) If you get a chain of around 40, it's shiny. The pokeradar doesn't exist in 3rd gen games, so chaining doesn't either.

Ah, I see! Well, at least now I know why I didn't know what chains were... I haven't played PKMN Diamond/Pearl Versions yet, don't even have a DS. I'm still playing PKMN Emerald Version on my GBA. :P

Actually, a chain of 40 doesn't guarantee a shiny patch, most people just like to start resetting at 40 because they don't want to risk losing their chain. Though it's still unconfirmed, a higher chain is rumored to increase the chances of finding a shiny patch, but either way, there is no magical number that makes a shiny patch appear.

Yea Shiny Pokemon Evolve, keep this in mind. I think of a Shiny pokemon as an "Albino Pokemon" Like in real life, Albinos dont become un-albinod (sorry about wordage) as they grow up.

ty all for answering my questions :classic: i have one more:surprised:

If i kill 20 geodudes in a row does tht increase chances of getting a shiny on Ruby?

Everly84 June 21st, 2007 8:49 AM

No, that will, just increase the pkmn you used defence by 5 when it levels up. EV training hard to explain. But worth the time to read about.
