Apache

Hey, I saw in a thread someone said something about Apache for your computer and you can work with PHP without uploading it. How is this possible. I tried to install it from apache.org and it just wouldn't work. The mirrors were uber confuzzling. Please help me. I believe it was lightning who said it.

Thanks
*Wow I typed this really fast* Well I just wanna keep typing. Typeing.

Install apache, then install php... just follow the tutorials on the sites. :/

And you could search around and see if there are any of those combo packs that work for Windows. Then you'd have Apache, php, and mySQL simply, with a few clicks. The best bet is to just search...

...and I'd suggest switching to Linux.

If your using a server, switch to Linux. But if your running apache, your best option is to stick with something you know. AKA Windows. Linux is only good for servers, and at that, only feora.

Redhat works just fine. >.o

And Linux is a better OS overall IMO.

do a search at sourceforge (or on google) for AppServ
It's a complete installer for apache, php, and mysql (plus other stuff) and works great on windows machines.
minimal setup once installed too

What is Apache for? Sounds new to me =P

aRedMoon May 15th, 2004 9:24 PM

It's the basis for a webserver basically. ^^;

I see an icon called "Apache" on the Cpanel of the server of a previous host for my website...is it for that?

aRedMoon May 16th, 2004 8:52 AM

Purin, it most likely links you to a page with information on the server's Apache. Like version... and other stuff that i can't think up off the top of my head. XP

@[email protected] Yeah, that was me... I stumbled around Apache website and somehow found a place to download it. I've no idea how I got through it (or got it working, for that matter). o_o;
