Thought I'd point this out, since you had none listed under VS SEEKER DEFENSE
On Route 225 there is a trainer that uses 2 Slowbros which give 2 Defense EVs each |
ok can someone tell me all the places u can get the best attack defence and special attack?
|
Best place to get special attack is in the Old Chateau, where Gastlys give +1, and if you have a GBA game in the other cartridge spot, you may get Haunter which give + 2 and even Gengar, +3

But at least I explained myself eloquently... Thanks for clearing me up. |
Quick question (sorry if this is a repeated question, I'm pretty sure it's not)
Ok... You get the effort Ribbon for getting 510 EV points?? Because I just took my Politoed to the chick in the town, and she said that the Effort Ribbon looks great on him... When showing her my Dusknoir, she commented on how he has been working stupendously hard and gave me another. Does that mean that I've done good in raising their EVs? And now will they not get very good stat boosts?? I'm a little confused because I didn't ever worry about EVs or anything like that, but the two Pokemon in question were transferred over through Pal Park... EDIT:: I'm part of the people who only battle for fun, and never thought of really having a competitive team. |
I'd assuime that they'd already gotten all of their EVs, if you're getting ribbons.
It's not like you only get EVs if you EV train. |
hey how many evs does a pelipper give and can u tell me in what stat

which is the best way to EV train a metagross?
|
im trying to ev train a pokemon but wen i get like 56 evs i use my counter app he only goes up buy 3 anyone help ??
|
Easier way of getting Speed EV is to Surf in a cave, since Zubat and occasionally Golbat appear in the water, without getting the usual selection of other cave dwellers (Machop/Geodude/Chingling etc). The levels on those are usually quite high though
|
once ive used up all my ev points can i just verse any pokemon to raise its level?
|
Yes, is the simple answer. Just make sure you've worked out the first 510 EV, because they can't be changed afterwards except with berries like Pomegs. Any battles after that don't affect the EVs, so you can level up to L100 with no other affect to your stats apart from your EV/IVs and nature.
|
Sandeep, the stats raise slowly at the beginning, but as you get into the higher levels you should start to see a different.

You can still EV train Lv.100. If you put a Pokemon in the box the EVs it has will raise its stats. It's called the Box Trick.
And in the games before GBA there was no 510 limit. You don't need to care so much for EV training then. |

So its not too late to EV train around lvl 90-100? :nervous:
|
You should mean 90-99. In Lv100, it's useless.
Anyway, if you reduce all the EVs your Pokémon must already have, you should still be able to train (with low level Pokémon) considering all the experience you need in the last levels. |
Alright, let me see if I got most of this correct..
1)Lets say i have a level 92 Monferno, and i never knew about EV training till now, I wouldnt be able to get a STRONG Monferno right? Since the EV points are scattered all over the place? 2)Lets say i caught a lvl 5 Mukrow, and i wanted all the EV points to go into Attack and HP, Id have to fight the monsters that give EV points in those areas Over and over again ? and if i see other types of Pokemon, run away? Cause if I fight 4 Pokemon that give (Lets say Defense).. Id have 1 EV point put into Defense and id be screwed right? 3)Do you recommend beating through the whole game before EV training? Thanks for answering all my questions :p |
1) It would be a more round and even one, since the EVs are spread out.
Why do you have a lv. 92 Monferno? 2) Yes, yes, and no. If you fight one Pokémon for a defense EV, it gives you a defense EV. It can be erased by a happiness berry (the specific one slips my mind). 3) Yes. You can't really EV train in-game, because you follow a set path. Do you understand? you can hang out around Route 201 killing Bidoof forever, but that's boring. And: I did get the box trick to work once in D/P, my Blissey was in the middle of a level and I put it in and its HP rose one. |
hey i wanted to ask this question
soemone somewhere in the fisrt page(i think)posted that if you battled a trainier's pokes then it will give it 2x the evs...is he right? |
It depends how you levelled your Pokemon to such a high level. If you just used Rare Candy (and only RCs), then you can still EV train BEFORE L100. Once you reach L100 you can't EV train since you can't gain EV if you can't gain Exp. Using the Day-Care Centre to level up works like this too, since you're not battling.
If you levelled up by battling, then you've already eaten into your EV limit, and it's advisable to use some EV reducing berries like Pomegs to reduce them before starting training. |

Hey I just read about Breeding and such..Ok so now.. if i wanted a really strong Pokemon, if i Get 2 Newborn Pokemons, and EV train them both, breed em, then would the baby of THOSE TWO have Good IV?
|
IV != EV
It's one IV from the mother, one from the father, one from a random parent, and the other 3 are random. |

Sure, no problem.
Route 222 (Outside Sunnyshore) Name:Alec Occupation:Fisherman Location:Along the coast-last Fisherman to the far left Says: "Welcome traveler! I forgotten your name, but we've battled before, haven't we?" Pokemon 2 Gyarados (2 ATK EV each) |

wait.... what?
ok so after i ev trained my electivire, when it leveled ^ it gained 24 attack, but then the next level only gained 3 attack, then i evd it in speed then it gained 22 speed, and the same thing happened... what's wrong? i think its to make up for the lost stats because it was the PBR electivire got at lv 50... and i didn't know where to put this, so i put it here...
|
hmm
You know it might be a glitch, if it's not I don't know what it is
|
It may have gained all the EVs possible.
If not, then it's just scaling properly. Have you noticed that you still get stat bonuses every level, even if EV training is finished? It isn't going to dump (example) 714 HP on your Blissey when you're done with EV training, it will give you enough that you will have that much at lv. 100. |
You made a minor error, that REALLY threw me off EV training. On the vs seeker section, under SP.DEF, you said Pelliper gives two sp.def ev's. They really give two DEFENCE. That really threw me off, but nothing I couldn't fix with berries. You might wanna change that.
The trainer that has it is Sailor Marc, Route 222, that you put up. You put up that it has Mantine and Pelliper. Mantine gives 2 sp.def, but Pelliper has 2 DEF. No problem, I realized that my Vileplume is better with the extra defence. So, in a way, you really helped. Thanks. |
this is great, after Ev training my weavile, i'm sweeping teams now XD. Thanks!
|
hey sorry if it has been asked before but i was curious was to what would happen with EV's/IV's still a tad unclear so i will reread the first page, if the pokemon leveled a few times in one go?? thanks
|
im going to start ev training my pokemon when there at level 10 is that the right level to start training or should i wait till im like level 20?

If I battle Pokemon trainers in-game, wont their various pokemon be giving me EV points I don't want?
Edit: So if I catch a lvl 5 or a lvl 20 the lvl 5 will be just as strong as the lvl 20? I heard they get random stats from within 1-32.. which makes no sense. Seems to me as if the lvl 20 would have already had some of his points spent, making it less weak. |
Question one: Yes. Which is why it's easier to EV train after the Elite Four, so you don't have to go through a specific place and battle trainers.
As for random 1-32: No. That 1-32 is actually 0-31 IVs, and is something completely different. If you were to catch two Geodude at the same level, they might have different stats due to IVs. That's a pretty rough explanation, Serebii's is better. Question two: No. There's a minimum a Pokémon can have. If you were to catch, say, a Geodude at level 99, it would have specific stats. If you used a Rare Candy (giving 0 EVs), it would level up and gain stats (let's say we didn't evolve it). However, it would have gained many more if you were EV training, instead of using the Rare Candy. Finally: No. Pokémon caught in the wild have not gained any EVs. It makes no sense, but it's true. The reason its stats are higher is what I mentioned answering your second question. |
sorry for being persistant but what if a pokemon leveled up lets say about three times, eg when a lvl 5 pkmn has exp share and you verse the elite for and they lvl up quiet a bit, what would happen then?

There isa problem with this guide.
You need to double check what you wrote which pokemon gives what stat because i just screwd up my ev training following your guide. Easily fixed with a berry but thats not the point. You said Bibarel's give +2 HP points your wrong, after i killed like 20 of them and leveld my pokemon i gained +13 attack points not HP. I checked with serubii and its attack +2 not HP. I dunno if other pokemon you listed are wrong but you need to double check this guide plz. I noticed you have bibarel writing twice in this guide once for HP and once for attack, the HP one is wrong. You should put up chansy, or Bidoof's or something chansy are very common and they give +2 HP |
Okay, this guide is being closed. Lemonade's part fits better in Strategies & Movesets and mine belongs here in the FAQ. It's better this way. Questions about EVs still go in Strategies & Movesets.
