What are IVs and EVs?
It says it all in the title.
Can anyone tell me what they stand for? I wish people wouldn't use abbriviations all the time, it bothers me. ~!~Miss Cow~!~ PS Sorry I put this in the wrong thread. |
IVs are Individual Values. They are the set value of each stat that a Pokémon has. Pokémon with high IVs in a stat will have that stat higher than one with lower IVs with that stat. As such, IVs are what make each Pokémon unique from another.
EVs are Effort Values. These are points received when fighting Pokémon. Certain Pokémon give a certain amount of certain types of EVs in each of the 6 stats. EV-training is making sure you send out a Pokémon to fight against an opposing Pokémon that gives the correct EVs for raising a stat it may need. Edit: Forgot to add that every 4 EVs in a stat is 1 point into that stat. Pokémon can only get 510 max EVs, with 255 max in a single stat, so a properly-trained Pokémon would get an extra 63 points in two stats. More information on IVs, EVs, and other competitive terms can be found here. (I typed that up in a rush, so best to look at that thread) |
