Gardevior or Gallade? also, one other question.

I was wondering if it would be better to have Gallade or Gardevior on my team. Also, my friend gave me a hacked level 3 Gardevoir. I was wondering, should I train my own from a Raltz or should I train the Gardevior?

Shiny Hunter Rex June 25th, 2007 5:50 PM

you should start from a ralts and train it

Oddball June 25th, 2007 5:53 PM

Will it result in better stats, or are you saying that because it's hacked? It doesn't have perfect IV's or anything.

PattySweets4 June 25th, 2007 5:57 PM

I would choose gallade over gardevoir because hes psychic AND fighting, not only that but also has really good beggining stats, yeah start from ralts and work your way up, what I would do (which i did) is stall the evolution of ralts a few lvls until he learns psychic, then evolve him to gallade.

Pkmn Trainer Alex June 25th, 2007 6:02 PM

I thought Gallade's stats are equal to Gardevoir's, just that the special attack and attack are switched.

Gardevoir serves more as a special wall/sweeper, while Gallade is more of a physical sweeper. So it depends on the purpose you have for it. Gallade also doesn't really have a good ability under its belt, while Gardevoir with Trace can be really useful. Wouldn't hurt to get both eventually and see what you like/need.

PattySweets4 June 25th, 2007 6:05 PM

Well with Gallade you cover more weaknesses that you do with Gardevoir. Gallade get STUB from psychis as well as fighting moves, get a bashful or quirky male ralts and just balance things out, i garantee you'll wreck with him.

Oddball June 25th, 2007 6:08 PM

hmm.. thanks. Any moveset/EV recommendations?

PattySweets4 June 25th, 2007 6:10 PM

well mine has protect, focus punch (because hes so fast!) leaf blade, and psychic. but you could probably replace protect with something more useful.

Oddball June 25th, 2007 6:12 PM

Why Psychic, may I ask? He has an incredibly low sp. atk.

Naru_kun June 25th, 2007 6:14 PM

I learned that the hard way >>;
<--- Trained Ralts in Attack and Sp.Attack.
When I got Gallade, and checked its summary, I nearly died.

Mmmm. Serebii saved meh though D:

fearow23 June 25th, 2007 6:14 PM

Go with psycho cut if you're training gallade, he'll use it more nicely than psychic.

Pkmn Trainer Alex June 25th, 2007 6:14 PM

Yea, Psycho Cut probably woulda been better, if anything. And Close Combat instead of Focus Punch. And Gallade isn't fast. o.o

Oddball June 25th, 2007 6:17 PM

So far I've gotten Protect, Psycho Cut, Close Combat, and Leaf Blade for my Gallade?

PattySweets4 June 25th, 2007 6:17 PM

alright, psycho cut would be better but believe me focus punch is a whole lot better than close combat, you have way too little def and sp. def to be lowering it more than it already is.

Pkmn Trainer Alex June 25th, 2007 6:18 PM

It's my belief that with a Pokémon with bad defenses, you would want to kill the opponent (or damage it heavily) quickly and reliably, and Focus Punch isn't reliable enough without Substitute.

Edit: The case is similar in Infernape's case, but if Focus Punch works well enough with you, I can't disagree with its power.

PattySweets4 June 25th, 2007 6:20 PM

that why i said you want a bashful gallade so you can work on all his stats specially def, sp. def and somewhat speed.

Live in Color June 25th, 2007 8:12 PM

A great moveset would be:

Psycho Cut
Night Slash/Swords Dance
Leaf Blade
Close Combat

Holding the item Razor Claw or something, boosts critical hit ratios, while 3 out of those 4 moves have high critical hit ratio, giving you a great chance to critical hit.

hotrod192 June 26th, 2007 7:29 AM

I think that you should start with Ralts and get a Gallade. I personnaly don't like using hacked pokemon.

linkinpark187 June 26th, 2007 8:46 AM

i would go with Gallade. though Gardevoir is Psychic, Gallade learns a Physical Attack called Psycho Cut, which is a Psychic Type Attack that does 70 Damage and has a high critical-hit ratio, which elminates the need for Psychic altogether. :D

Eos Aduro June 26th, 2007 12:00 PM

Well, yeknow, I just totally love gardevoir, but its your choice, and Gardevoir has less weaknesses.

Ichida June 26th, 2007 3:25 PM

Consider giving it Stone Edge and Night Slash along CC and Psycho, if you want it to cover its weaknesses to Flying and Psychics.
