The Elite Four
Ok, im about to enter the new Victory Road. I just recently caught a Mantyke in the oceans below the waterfall. I love my Mantyke, and I may even want to evolve him sometime. I was wondering if I should evolve him, and if - or if not - should I take him to the E4 with me? Thanks~
This is my party- -Empoleon Lvl 42 -Dialga Lvl 48 -Luxray Lvl 40 -Staraptor Lvl 39 (Maybe 40) -Clefable Lvl 38 -Mantyke Lvl 40 (I think) |
ditch the luxray for a gallade

Thanks Jirachi, but that wasn't the question. What about my mantyke? |
probably evolve him with a water stone or by training, then take him in- he, or she, will help with flint.(Fire-3rd Elite)
|
lol well mantyke's att and sp. atk are WAYYYYY low so i wouldnt recommend using it
EDIT: iPanda it evolves with remoraid on team not with water stone... |
Thanks

But I love my Mantyke...Oh well lol I havnt made my decision yet. |
Evolve him. Definately train your party some more. Not strong enough yet.

EDIT: I only use two Pokemon and take out the whole Elite Four. Dragonite and Salamence. Dragonite can take out all of Aaron because he has Thunderpunch, and most of his have low defense. Then it's Bertha, who is Ground. Dragonite also has Aqua Tail. To take care of everything that Aqua Tail and Thunderpunch can't, he has Dragon Dance and Dragon Rush. Salamence knows Dragon Claw, Aerial Ace, Crunch and Earthquake. They both have a big mix of moves, and that's basically the trick to take out the Elite Four, get a big mix of moves. |

Either way, Dialga can pwn the Elite 4 by itself, so the other members are pretty much fillers. |
Thanks Everyone!
Thanks everyone for your input on how I should go about this. Blazed, nice Dragonite and Salamence!
Thanks~ |
incase you need to know, you can only evolve a mantyke by having a remoraid in you're party...after 1 level up it evolves into mantine
|
Yeah

Yeah, I know. Thanks. I really love my Mantyke, he is so cute. |

Oh, and train your team, like, 10 more levels each. |
When I was battling the Elite Four, I never used my Empoleon (water type like Mantyke) so I don't think it'd be needed. You can bring it along just in case, or use it in Battle Tower later (should be level 50 by then, though, because that's all it accepts I believe).
Also, train up your team more.. All my Pokemon were level 55 when I beat it, and I had a few issues. |
This belongs to Pokémon Strategies & Movesets, so I'll just move it to over there for ya.
Moved~ |
Thanks

Thanks wakachamo. Appreciate it. |
Mantine has insane Sp def but the fact that he has a 4x weakness makes him useless immediately. Use empoleon and get a garchomp/hipowdon =/ Cynthia's lucario was hell for me..

Thanks Cakekun. Garchomp did sound like a really good Pokemon. |
Mantyke/Mantine may not be the best water types, but if you want to use it in game you should. Even if he has low attacks and a big weakness you shouldn't have much trouble with in game trainers, so use a Pokemon you like. =P Just switch him out when you battle competitively.
Anyways for the elite four... On Aaron you should be able to blow through him with your Staraptor if you level it up some more. Bertha will go down with your Empoleon, but you'll need something with a grass move for Quagsire and Whiscash Flint's Pokemon will go down with Empoleon too, Drifblim to Luxray and sombody else for Lopunny. Against Lucian There isn't too much you can do except beat him with your strongest attacks (since you don't have a dark type). Crunch, if you have it on Luxray, is good. For Medicham use Staraptor. For Cynthia- Milotic goes down to your Luxray, Roserade to Staraptor, Dialga can take out Garchomp. As for her other 3 I don't know what to tell you. Gastrodon, again, you need a grass type. Spiritomb has no weakness. Lucario has a lot of weaknesses (fire, psychic, ground) but I don't know if any of your Pokemon have those moves. I suppose Dialga could cover those though. Lots of people say they get throught the elite four using him =) Just level up a bit more and maybe get a temporary grass or psychic type to use. Hope That helps. |

Thanks Espeon, that helps a LOT. |
The only reason I'm not using Mantine is the time you get him (I like my team before the 5th badge). Mantine is a terrific pokemon who makes up for his electric weakness with extremly high sp.def. What brings him down is a limited movepool.
Espeon Master gave good advice, but I have to say, the best way to beat the Elite Four is to look up what pokemon they have. I know you're smart enough to figure out how to best them from there. |
