Shuckle Lover June 26th, 2007 7:11 PM

I love shuckle!

Okay...

I have a shuckle and i want to teach him a couple moves... and ive got a questions!

If he uses withdraw to the max, and then uses powertrick... will the attack or the defence get boosted after the powertrick???

Ayano Katagiri June 26th, 2007 9:14 PM

I've never tried this before but... I'm pretty sure the defence would continue to be upped. As Power Trick switches the Attack stat with the Defence stat, the defence stat would drop, thus allowing it to be increased again but your Attack stat will be maxed out.

furix June 26th, 2007 9:24 PM

trick room-Power Trick shuckle is screwed either way.

Turn one use Trick Room(you go last)

Turn two you use Power Trick(you go first)

You die that same turn ;(

Turn one you use Power Trick(You go last)

turn two you die before using trick room ;(

It's a really hard pokemon to use, and requires you to forsee what your opponent will do, but hey.. if you use withdraw a few times, maybe you can do something about that lawsy drop in defense. I am not sure, though.

It is to risky. You would die before you could kill them with that move!

Paranoia June 27th, 2007 4:36 AM

Shuckle = Fail

It may have that great def, but defense goes so far as how much HP it has, Because 244 HP isn't great. If only he could get a sub from blissey, But what's the point when blissey is a good special sponge already!

Vainz June 27th, 2007 8:05 AM

I agree with Paranoia. If Shuckle only had some more HP, then he would be a God. Unfortunatly, his low HP doesnt even make him worth anything.

Punishment June 27th, 2007 8:11 AM

Well with Baton Pass support from other Pokemon Shuckle might be able to pull something like that off.

Crimson Arcanine June 27th, 2007 8:36 AM

I think a Shuckle thats strong in the Defense stat with Sandstorm might make a okay defensive pokemon.

But its HP is just far too low to absorb enough damage. And any opponent worth thier salt would take out Shuckle before it can do any damage that way anyway. The only way you could survive it is via Focus Band but why use a method thats really unreliable? Or you can try a lot of switching as well.

If you really want to use Power Trick on Shuckle on 2 vs 2 battles, the only way to do it effectively (IMO) Is to use a Baton Pass pokemon to bring either Shuckle or a pokemon with Follow Me, while the effects of Trick Room are in play WHILE the other one is out. But you are still going to be screwed by some tactics, and its still rather difficult to prepare, plus to at least have room for other tactics on the team you would need to use the only pokemon that can learn both Baton Pass and Trick Room. Anyway theres far easier ways to skin a cat.

Shuckle can actually be somewhat formiddable when given a decent moveset. His HP isn't something to write home about, but he isn't useless like most people (n00bs) think he is.

Crimson Arcanine June 27th, 2007 9:43 AM

Also Shuckle is a pain to train up. It requires patience that I don't even have. But i guess if one is diligent they can have a rather nasty shuckle eventually.

Faceless* June 27th, 2007 12:55 PM

Shuckle is a failure, not even worth training.. an umbreon would be much better

BTW good explanation furix :\
