Questions about EVs

How do I keep track of my Pokemon's EVs? And what's the best way to do it?

Angelic Diablo June 28th, 2007 1:20 AM

There is an application on the Poketch that allows you to count, it is called a Counter App. lol

Short Range June 28th, 2007 1:45 AM

But it doesn't save and it only counts 1 stat.

pilotwings June 28th, 2007 4:47 AM

I just build one EV at a time. Use the counting app. It only resets when you switch apps.

SILENT_NIGHT June 28th, 2007 6:39 AM

So then you don't have to switch apps unless necessary.
So, yeah use the counter app.

Shiny Umbreon June 28th, 2007 4:41 PM

The best is to get a paper and pencil. The counter thing disappears if you change app, dosen't save, and doesn't even let you substract, so if you make an error, you must remember.

Oh, almost forgot.

When using the counter app, you can also double check by checking your PP useage. Let's say you're fighting Gyarados for attack EVs and you're wearing the macho brace. If you've been one-hit KOing them, and the moves you've been using are at 10/30 PP and 5/15 PP, then you've gained 60 attack EVs. Of course, this only really works if you can one-hit KO, if not it gets confusing.

SILENT_NIGHT June 29th, 2007 7:07 AM

What if you hit all KO'S?

pilotwings June 29th, 2007 7:30 AM

Well, thats the point. To knock them out in one hit. If not, the method of checking your PP useage doesn't really work.

Personally, I just found a small notepad, made two columns, labeled them, and started tracking the EVs. I think it's a lot easier than using the Counter App.

Extric June 29th, 2007 9:11 AM

Yeah, same with me. I just picked up a notebook or a notepad and created a table and just wrote down the EVs earned. I think it's eaiser than the Counter App. on the Pokétch.

SILENT_NIGHT July 1st, 2007 4:13 AM

Still you keep having to go back and back to the pp usage. It's gets a little hassle over awhile so now I just don't care about that sort of thing.

Ichida July 1st, 2007 7:12 AM

You need to count them off manually, the game won't tell you how much you have. It might be a pain, but trust me, the entire EV training process is worth whatever you go through for it. However, if your EVs are full, the woman in the Sunyshore Market will give your Pokemon an Effort Ribbon.
