Need Moveset and EV opinions

Out of boredom of constantly hatching Clamperl eggs to find a plane old one, I want to stay hyped about the shiny huntail I want. So I would like people to give me some ideas on a suggested moveset for Huntail and EV training that should be done.

I was thinking for moves to be:
Hydro Pump
Crunch
???
???

Be open to any nature because I just want a shiny, and if I don't get a good nature, I'm not gonna breed a billion more clamperls to find the perfect nature.

Thanks in advance.

Hydro Pump's accuracy makes user cry.

Ya I was kinda expecting someone to get rid of Hydro Pump. :p
I'll choose Surf because it's has 90 base power. + STAB so...90 x 1.5 = 135 base attack power. That works. So now I need suggest EVs and Two more moves. It wouldn't be bad if someone gave a good nature and item too. Nature just in case I do get that nature, I'll know my Huntail will ROCK!

Thanks. :)

Go For Icefang as another move then for the last one maybe Return?

.Aero June 30th, 2007 6:37 PM

I was thinking Ice Fang for grass type weakness, but stayed away from it because lack of power and stab. But I don't want to use Return. I know it would be strong but I don't like using that move. I'm sorta leaning towards rain dance because of his swift swim ability, that way I won't have to spend any EV points on speed. It will also increase the power of Surf, most likely to be the most common move I'm going to use. As far as EV's go, I was thinking of spending 124 (+31) on both attack and defense and 128 (+32) on special attack and defense, swift swim will make my speed double so I won't need to work on that, HP I won't have to worry about if my defenses are high enough. I really hope this set-up would work, because I like to take advantage of pokemon's abilities.

EDIT: Oops, made a mistake, I thought you could only get 504 EV points, but it's 510. So I'll give the remaining 6 to speed.

If you want honesty, complete failure as most other Pokemon will have a counter to this move, and you wil most likely be wiped out anyway.

The nature should be either adamant or jolly. The attacks should be Crunch, waterfall or aqua tail, ice fang, and rain dance.

Ok so one of you says use and the other says not to. I don't understand though Nutri, how could others counter it? By having another weather changing ability or move? And how come you said I would most likely be wiped out anyway? Are you saying that Huntail just isn't good?

Water, I don't see why I should use Waterfall over Surf, I realize it has the possibility of flinching, but I just want to kill them quickly, not something else.

In other words, I just need one more opinion on rain dance cuz it's tied on yes and no. I need a tie breaker. :p

Thunder

Waterfall is Physical

Rain Dance is more useful on Bulky Waters.

.Aero July 2nd, 2007 2:47 PM

Oh, ok so rain dance doesn't matter anymore, and waterfall it is.
so I should have

Waterfall
Aqua tail
Crunch
Ice Fang

If not just tell me.
Never though about Thunder. Man, I used to use thunder with my Kyogre all the time, how could I forget. :p

Huntail can't really do much.
Besides the sucky Waterfall, Ice Fang, Crunch combo, it can't do much. The other best move is Snatch to prevent your oponnent (yes, it's spelled wrong) from setting up on you. I guess you can even take ou Crunch and put Baton Pass to use together with Snatch.

Baton Pass is only useful for Pokemon with Stat boosting moves. You can't rely on what the enemy will use if you don't even know what the enemy can use.

.Aero July 2nd, 2007 3:35 PM

Ok, I'm gonna stick with what NutriSweet said, I didn't ask people to tell me stuff about huntail, i wanted opinions for him, not wheather or not I should use him.

You can't rely in Huntail. At least using Snatch is extremely satisfatory.

I already said, I'm gonna use Huntail and I'm goin with NutriSweet's plan. I like it and he makes a great point. I don't use moves like snatch or baton pass. So I just want this thread to die. I chose what I want now.
