should rare pokemon be less valuable?

i was just wondering if anyone else is thinking that rare pokemon just aren't quite as special now with cloning. it seems like cloning is really taking value away from what are supposed to be rare and special pokemon.

Ichida July 4th, 2007 6:24 PM

Would you rather trade for a Feebas, or spend days fishing in every water tile in the route looking for it? Lucky for me I found my Feebas by accident, XDD.

wolfie1177 July 4th, 2007 6:39 PM

yeah, but feebas is different, because you can breed that. i'm talking more about shinies and legends

peachesncream July 4th, 2007 6:41 PM

I don't know, I don't clone or ask anyone to clone for me, I only have one cloned pokemon and that is because someone just offered it to me and I didn't want to refuse, it is a legit celebi. I kinda think that rare pokemon are becoming less special because when cloners trade it isn't even like they are giving anything special away, because all they are giving away is a copy of their pokemon. Thats why I don't like to trade with cloners because when I trade a legendary pokemon away it is my only one, and if I was trading with a cloner they can have as many of a legendary pokemon as they want to. so yea... I guess I'm kinda opposed to cloning, but thats just me

Ichida July 4th, 2007 6:45 PM

I have one of every legendary, that's all I need. If people want to get cloned copies from someone else rather than catch them themselves, it's their loss.

yea, i agree with that, i don't have one of every legend but I have quite a few

<Nico> July 4th, 2007 7:11 PM

I just hope that all the "safety" measurments that Nintendo is taking legends might get something more valuable.. But I'm not getting my hopes high..

yea, I hope so too, I have a question, did nintendo intentionally make it possible to clone pokemon? or is that just a big mistake on their part?

Ichida July 4th, 2007 7:19 PM

It's a glitch in the programming.

<Nico> July 4th, 2007 7:22 PM

yup.. it seems they always get one each generation.. and it's always a cloning bug XD

they seriously need to look over these games before they release them to the public, I mean, who even figures out how to clone pokemon using the GTS? someone had to have figured it out to begin with and then they told everyone and news spread. I seriously think sometimes that nintendo intentionally puts these glitches in the games to make them more exciting or something

Hacking is worse than cloning, and you obviously hacked to get acreus even if your darkrai and shaymin are legit. So I wouldn't be talking if I were you.

Ichida July 4th, 2007 7:47 PM

My Arceus came right from Hall of Origin, so it's as legit as it's gonna get.

Craig² July 4th, 2007 8:43 PM

The possibility of cloning doesn't stop me from getting excited whenever I catch a rare pokemon. And cloning doesn't really make shinies seem less special, because the chances of even coming across one are low enough to begin with.

I don't see why hacking events is bad. And, really, who cares about legitimacy? You've got the pokemon, and even if you went to the event, you'd get the same pokemon as you would with AR.

THANK YOU. SOMEONE WHO FINALLY UNDERSTANDS THE LOOPHOLE. It's when people ENCOUNTER-HACK Pokemon that I draw the line.

I agree with you on that, sadly there's not many SANE and somewhat HONEST action replay users as yourself..

Ichida July 4th, 2007 9:08 PM

The funny thing is that I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. Either way, XDD.

Myoko-chan July 4th, 2007 9:16 PM

I don't care about the people who clone pokemon and the stuff they have, I only care about the rares that I have. I used to clone stuff on my emerald a year ago.I'm sure that everyone sometimes has the kind of feeling like "I don't want that person to have all those good pokemon" when they trade and stuff.

If you're not being sarcastic, then...

There are some people who abuse the privlage of AR. Like Ichida said, encounter-hacking isn't quite justified, at least in my mind.

(BTW: I love Bleach, Ichida. xD *is uber Ichigo fangirl* I even named my cat Renji xD)

no sarcasm intended, I was really saying that you are one of the few people that I would actually trust as an AR user because of your strong ideas (that I agree with). :)

Indeed. I dont use encounter codes because it's not a legit way to get a pokemon.
I only use them as a last resort when all other codes fail.

Ye Olde Smoo July 4th, 2007 9:50 PM

yeah i agree

But with the added part of hackers sending them over gts just makes the problem even worse.

Without hackers they would be worth a great deal more than they currently are!

Lightmanaphy July 4th, 2007 11:59 PM

I very much agree with Ye Olde Smoo he makes agood point when he says about the hackers sending the hacked pokemon either shiny or very rare legendarie!without the hackers we would have much rarer pokemon then we do now!

sims796 July 5th, 2007 12:04 AM

Well, whether you hacked or not won't ruin my fun. Do as you like. I hate searching for rare pokes, but I love when I unintentionally find them (like my first shiny Wobbufet, which I didn't get to catch. I caught my Oddish, though). If you feel like cheating for it, fine by me.

I hate searching for rare pokemon, too, but PokeRadar makes it much easier for me. It's gratifying, though, when you've been intentionally searching and you finally get payed with a shiny or some other rarity. Unintentional findings, however, are the awesome-est of all. You just feel so lucky, until you accidently kill it. xD

I just think that cheating makes it easier, working for it makes it more satisfying. Either way, I'm happy, I guess.
