Milotic advice
okay so i got a feebas in a trade last night, out of first batch of eggs i managed to get a modest nature, i was wanting modest or calm really, with this natures in mind, i think due to milotics huge sp.def it'd be good to ev train sp.atk and sp.def..
what kinda of moves would be good in this situation.. |
Milotic can do a few things well, but works best as a tank.
For an ev spread I would suggest 252 hp, 252 defense, 4 special attack (assuming the special attack iv is high...sort of important on a pokemon like Milotic, savvy?). In terms of moves, you also have options. I run mine with Surf/Ice Beam/Hypnosis/Recover while holding a flame orb. Some other good combos would be Rest/Surf/Ice Beam/Sleep Talk (activates Marvel Scale and doesn't burn through your health), Surf/Ice Beam/Mirror Coat/Recover (with the flame orb of course, though this setup works better for taking special hits), or Surf/Ice Beam/Hypnosis/Mirror Coat (personally I advise against this because you lose part of Milotic's tanking skills without recover, but it could work if that gap is filled). |
It all depends on what role Milotic takes. Milotic can be a physical wall with Bold or a special wall with Calm. It can also be a Special Sweeper with Modest.
I advise Hypnosis over Mirror Coat. Sleep Talk milotic should be bold but I find it unreliable. I highly advise against letting Milotic hold Flame Orb. Not only does it lose Leftovers as a mean of recovery but degrades it's ability to tank. |

Without a Flame Orb, Marvel Scale goes to waste.
Lefties are nice, but Milotic falls to your average physical sweeper on the street without some method of using its abilities. |
Mind you my Milotic is a Special Sweeper with no EVs in Defense and she takes one Thunder Fang or Dragon Claw from a Salamence just fine.
Flame Orb as great as it is for activating Marvel Scale makes Milotic less durable. She no longer has Lefties to reciver lost HP but instead is losing HP at a steady but dangerous pace. If this combination was awesome every trainer with a Milotic would use this. Trust me I've tried and it isnt amazing. My current Milotic has an EV spread of 252 Sp. Attack / 200 HP / 58 Special Defense. The HP makes her more durable and the boost in Special Attack destroys anything that doesnt resist a Surf or Ice Beam. Milotic despite the current metagame isnt designed to be used as a physical wall. |

I'll be using milotic for clearing rock/ground and dragon pokes.. |
Max out Defense of Milotic for a good Bulky Water.
Rhyperior isn't ok as a physical wall (only really because Solid Rock). Skarmory and Forretress are better though. |
Well it all depends on the role. If Eureka wanted a bulky water I would have advised her to max out Defense too. But she wants a special sweeper (something Milotic also does well) so I gave her the advice she wanted.
