Name of this forum = ruby/sapphire! =D;;

as for all other attacks that aren't OHKO, it all depends... against skarmory even explosion maybe a bit useless, but a flamethrower will be superior. Against Blissey, it's the other way around.

Don't other Ice types resist Sheer Cold?

Best dark attack in terms of base power is crunch, not faint attack.

Volt tackle should be listed in the electric section as well if crappy zap cannon with just 100 pwr is on the list (bolt is only 5 off from cannon)

i didnt c crunch. ill fix it.

and wat does volt tackle do?

Frostweaver May 24th, 2004 12:01 PM

Double-edge like attack electric version... it's quite a powerful attack on Raikou and Zapdos I'll imagine. Currently there's no legal way to get the move yet o.o;

(Nintendo is probably hogging the attack for themselves in special promotions)

Ice beam hits ice type right? ^_^;
As long as it's not total resistance like Shedinja, Sheer Cold will hit (just like how horn drill can hit a Steelix without Sturdy)

Xilion_Sword90 May 24th, 2004 1:33 PM

Well, if you want to be evil with Smeargle, try:

Spore
Lock-On/Mind Reader
Sheer Cold
Recover

awkwardsilencer May 24th, 2004 4:05 PM

does it matter whether its fissue, sheercold, or what 1 hit ko move it is?

Frostweaver May 24th, 2004 4:57 PM

yes it does. It MUST be sheer cold or else Gengar will mess up your Smeragle. Gengar is resistant to all OHKO moves except Sheer Cold. Anything with sturdy will mess it up as well (and metal chicken roams the earth)

Timbjerr May 24th, 2004 7:57 PM

If this is a Ruby/Sapphire forum, how can we legally be talking about Articunos and Smeargles XD

anyways...my ideal moveset for Smeargle:
Lock-on, Mind Reader, Fissure, Sheer Cold

it covers all bases

Frostweaver May 24th, 2004 8:00 PM

fissure is completely unnecessary... put in spore there to help out smeragle's poor stats (if you can pull off spore first, then... you have a *better* chance) Then again, the name of the game is MC (Metal Chicken)

awkwardsilencer June 4th, 2004 1:40 PM

umm dude, smeargle is in coliseum and i traded him to ruby .

Frostweaver June 4th, 2004 2:11 PM

well in a way tmbjr is right... since ruby/sapphire is more for stuff dedicated to ONLY ruby/sapphire, this should be part of a strategy thing then? *moves*

O.o;

awkwardsilencer June 4th, 2004 3:21 PM

i dont see why it matters but ok.

Marco June 4th, 2004 5:02 PM

I don't think any move is the best. Every one is different and STAB really makes a difference. I guess Earthquake on a ground pokemon or Shadow Ball on Shedinja...

Mew9 June 4th, 2004 6:59 PM

Shadow Ball never works good for me. I dunno y. I like Earthquake and Hyper Beam.

Lucifer. June 5th, 2004 1:29 AM

Maybe you're using it on a Pokemon with a poor Attack rating. Stick it on Metagross, Absol, Banette etc and watch it work its stuff. XD

Frostweaver June 5th, 2004 12:19 PM

Keep in mind that shadow ball is a ghost attack which is PHYSICAL. Doesn't make sense but that's how ghost type attack works. (It looks so "special" to me... attacks like crunch on the other hand... err... *thinks of Tyranitar if dark attacks are physical* nevermind)

Mew9 June 10th, 2004 8:28 AM

Hmmmmm...................... That makes a difference. ("Physical, y didn't i think of dat?")

omega17 June 11th, 2004 6:23 AM

I believe the best move in the game is Toxic.

Iveechan June 11th, 2004 6:54 AM

The best move is Rest. Clears up bad stat ailments and heals all HP. If you have chesto/mint berry (GSC) or double team or natural cure/early bird ability, usefulness is amazing. Then again, most Pokemon with early bird, people tend to prefer the other ability it can get. Or don't want to abuse Rest. And I forget if Natural Cure heals Sleep.

awkwardsilencer June 11th, 2004 4:47 PM

rest sucks...such a waste

Frostweaver June 11th, 2004 9:32 PM

But all natural curers have recover or softboil anyway... recover and softboil is a lot better than rest if there's natural cure.

Rest will be your bane awkwardsilencer... You only need to battle for a day and you'll start to hate resting Skarms so much. Just after 6 turns of brick break that Skarmory is finally red, but then oh dear back to full hp in green! So fun... -_-;

Iveechan June 12th, 2004 12:59 AM

Why even use Brick Break against a Skarmory? What happened to special attacking it to death?

If my natural cure Pokemon were paralyzed, I'd rather rest it up than use Recover. But that's just me. I hate paralysis. It's bad enough you can't move sometimes, it also reduces your speed.

Blitz~2005 June 12th, 2004 1:02 AM

i think tackle is the most powerfull move :P j/k

Frostweaver June 12th, 2004 10:44 AM

well not all the time are you always in a favorable position that you have a special attacker out, or maybe you lost all of them already so all you got are brick breakers... it happens x_x;

Tackle isn't that bad. It's better than splash =p
