A Shiny Pokemon is a different colored Pokemon. You can get a Pokerader right after obtaining the National Pokedex.

Pkmn Trainer Alex July 9th, 2007 10:35 PM

A shiny Pokémon is one that has a different color scheme from the normal of that particular species. Each Pokémon has a shiny version, although some have more distinct differences than others. A shiny also, at the beginning of the battle, will have a special entrance where a swirl of stars/light appears, further indicating its shiny status.

Shinies are valueable to people because of the rarity of finding one, but other than rarity and appearances, they are no different from the regular versions.

As far as Poké Radar, Professor Oak gives it to you at the Pal Park the first time you enter it.

o how might i obtain a shinie poke mon like what known pokemon have shinie versions and is it random where u find them or what?

There's a 1/8192 of possibilities to run into a wild shiny pkmn or hatching one from an egg. Also, if you make a chain of 40 pkmn using the pokeradar a shiny spot will apear, that means there's a wild shiny in there.

how do i make a chain (im new to all of this if u cant tell and thanks 2 the ppl who are kind enough to help me)

all pokemon have a shiny version. They are found randomly throughout the game. the chance of getting one, is 1/8192 (i think). There are some pokemon with the male and female pokemon coloured differently though, like Hippowdon.
The chain is made after you get the Pokeradar. you have to chain pokemon with it.

1: Buy repels.
2: go into a grassy area. use the pokeradar, and repel
3: go into the bit of grass that moves, or sparkles etc.
3: if you encounter the same pokemon more than twice, it is a chain.l

Just keep in mind, a high chain with Poké Radar doesn't guarantee a shiny. People have found the shiny patches in single-digit chains (or no chain at all). And I still have a hard time fully believing that the larger chains actually increase the chances of finding a shiny. I think it is just one of those cases where people do something long and tiring, hoping to get something out of it and end up succeeding, so they put the two together and made it a "fact". XD If someone can confirm that high-chain shiny-hunting is actually programmed in, then nevermind what I said.

uh so how might i make a chain

Using the pokeradar will make some grass spots to move in 3 different ways: a)a slow way(this means there's a normal pkmn), b)a fast way(this means there's an uncommon/nat dex pkmn) and c) the spot will glow 2 times(this means there's a shiny pkmn).
The chain must be of the same pkmn and you'll need to either kill it or capture it. The chain will stop if you run from the battle or a different pkmn appears.
